  • many people in the comments are confused, let me clear it up...

    It's originally a Toyota 4AG 1587cc 4 cylinder 5 valve with individual throttle bodies... the one in this video he has changed the cams and pistons, so now it makes 200ps instead of about 165ps.

    I want that engine it sounds so good on full throttle.

    3 for intake.

    exhaust gas are hot and have enough velocity to find easily the exit of the cylinder.

    most of the time the intake valve is bigger or there are more of them than exhaust valves.

    in few turbo engines the exhaust is bigger than the intake to allow the turbo to pump the exhaust gas when it's creating a vacuum just before the valve close.

    but the more valve you have the more bigger cylinder you have too, and on a so big surface the mixture do not burn quick enough......

  • to the man that says that keichiis engine is a 20v not... the engine on the trueno of keichii is a trd formula atlantic a red top 1990 4age modified it is 16v yet its regulated for some reason but it is not a 20v cuz 20v cant get the same stress as the 16v ;)

  • the purpose of this vid is to summon all the haters on youtube..lol..nah the good ol toyota/yamaha engine came stock with itbs and vvt plus shim UNDER bucket held together with a forged crank and topped withside fed inj and a nice windage tray to boot. and to minamize ring flutter at high rpm they made em a little thinner and to hit high rpms they made em lighter.and thats all you need.go get one they are cheap

  • OKAY so hers some food for thought 4v vs 5v heads is it the added valve or the way the valves are angled to the piston that adds you the power.....like in a small block chevy stock heads are at 23 degrees to the pistonswhenn you start getting into high rpm (8000+)you better think about switching to 18 degree heads,cuz he could just throw bigger valves in a 4v head and get the same kinda flow numbers.....something to ponder

  • flippin thru all these little ae86's with this throttle body setup on em and it's all the same tap the throttle to like 3000 over and over again.....must sound a lot cooler in person sounds stupid on video like keeping a 4barrel carbed car off the secondaries.....found one where the guy hits it once sounds pretty mean.....this car would probably eat me so not talkin bad but hit it once at least, if youre filming it trying to show off then show off already!

  • In this the (the engine in the video) it was 4 cylinders but 5 valves for each one, which still give the 20v configuration altough from a a diferente, and unusual, type of aproach.

  • yeah exactly. 3 intake and 2 exhaust. Its much easier to clear exhaust out of the combustion chamber than to fill it with the air/fuel mix. Also by staggering the opening of the intake valves the mixture is "swirled" in the CC which is a boon for combustion effiency. It also nicely fills the 20v pent-roof combustion chamber, which incidentally is used by several F1 motors to this day....

  • never really understood why 5 valves are any better. 4 valves is still considered the best by most F1 motors including honda AKA best motor in one of the worst cars this year.

  • Mainly it's because of the way the power is delivered, 5 cilininder engines are known to have wider torque bands and

    being smother when you step on the gas.. It RWD cars it's an important feature because if you over-step the gas pedal that power delivery is not so abrut like in a 4 cilinder.

    It's almost like the Turbo-lag... no power... still no power.. BANG we're we go. 20v engines are the exact contrary ;)

  • If it has 4 cylinders, normaly it has 1 ou 2 vavles per each, wich gives 8v ou 16v.. The 20v engine, like Tsuchiya AE86, is a 5 cilinder engine bulit from crosing the 4A-GE engine with the 1.6 litre from the AE111 model ;)

  • ohohoh! now i know what you're talking about, you weren't talking about this particular engine, right!, yes this configuration is rare, i've only seen this in the 1.8T audi/volkswagen engine and this one ;)

  • There is others too... the Fiat 2.0 and 2.4 Turbo engines form the Coupé and the Marea. Sorry for my bad spelling :P

  • no your an idiot too, its a 4 Cylinder with 5 Valvers PER Cylinder, get it right... if your confused as to what im talking about, send me an e-mail, i have 16V head pictures, and 20V head pictures to show you the difference.. there is no "added piston/cylinder" 5 Cylinder means 5 Pistons.. thats fucking impossible.

  • Your an idiot, there is no "5 Cylinder" 4A in Tsuchiya's AE, its called a "20V" basically what he did, was 1 of 2 things, Swapped in the 4A-GE(blacktop/silvertop) 4 Cylinder 1.6L 20 Valve, or took the STOCK 1.6L 16V and added a Silvertop or Blacktop head to the original block (its a cheaper alternative, and since hes turbo the pistons were useless to keep or use from a 20v/16v application)

  • lol read the post! I was replying to sum1 else about 5 cylinder fiat engines (i.e. the 2.0 coupe turbo and 2.4 stilo abarth) these are inline 5 and fwd, couple of vw's have v5 engines too so its not 'impossible'

  • Tsuchiya's engine is not turboed, it is still a naturally aspirated engine. It is a 20 valve Group A engine, detuned to around 190 horsepower these days.

  • The things i would do for an AE86 or AW11 with one of them in it... The only thing better than that would be a 10,000rpm+ TRD group A engine, like the N2 Levin's, even if its only got 200bhp, the revvyness (to coin a phrase) is the stuff dreams are made of
