Great vid, il be practiceing a ton to get that down. Quick question though, when your playing 2 notes on the same string on an arpeggio, are you picking the string as you pull off? Or is there a bit of this im missing?
hey dude i already knew this stuff but its a great lesson for those who dont. if ur havin trouble just practice it for like an hour straight every day for about a week. i can do it perfectly now and alot of bands use these sweeps too especially the new bullet for my valentine album.
Exactly what he said...the whole point is to make is nice and smooth, so multiple notes on 1 string=hammer on/pull offs! Also if you noticed practice in clean first distortion hides any mistakes when you are first learning the sweep technique
i usually practice only in clean. i'll spend a good half hour warming up. first with just alternate picking. sweep warm up is probably the last thing i do but i do it. yeah the hammer on/pull off thing i learned. but when i made this video i was still a bit new at it. you can tell because im not exactly that fast. but thank you for the feedback, i could use some constructive criticism. watch my other videos and critique them haha.
Sweet bro, it sounds good! You didn't do too bad at all in my opinion I was just writing what I think to be the best way to practice sweeps! I am actually not as good at 3 string sweeps....I am way way way faster on 5-6 string sweeps for some reason haha. Anyways keep up the good work!

when u do a pull off do u pick both note or just pull off one?
ElysiaLovesCakes 4 years ago
You should avoid picking at all in a sweep so try to just do hammer on and pull offs when there is more than one note per string
