As far as the puppy goes Michelle, you have to show that you are the "Alpha", we used to have to put our dogs to the floor, (not hurting, but just pushing them over), put your thumb and index finger to the back of the neck, ( to mimic the Alpha "bite"), and growl a little bit in their ear. It sounds crazy, I know, but that is what a trainer that works with movie dogs told me to do. And it WORKS!
