Unbelievable, this guy is 87!? Super sound, great improvisation, would like to hear him with one of his bands. Listening to him gives me great inspiration to work daily on my tenorsax as well. Jazzfan16
AAubra can you please let me know what backing track you used on I can,t get started , is it an abersold track . your sound and soul in your playing brings me to tears it is so good .I am truly hooked on your playing never give up and lets have plenty more Graham.
I was captivated by this musician. He has an excellent sense of time and a personal approach to the music that assures the soul of its validity. I will buy his CDs whenever available and would love to go to wherever he performs. May he be blessed.
Man. what a beautiful player - and holy cow. 85 yrs old! - I'm 80, & have been lucky enough to have seen & heard in person some of the greatest sax players, including Dexter, Bird, Rollins, Wardell Gray, Sonny Stitt and others, and I say with all confidence, this man could get up on the stand with any one of them. On some other posts it is stated that his name is A.J.Graves? is that right? - whatever, there should be some c.d's out there for us believers. Please keep posting!
It's a pity he hasn't released any CD. But just the same, every time I watch your videos (which means everyday) I want to say, "What a dad you have!" He doesn't look like a very sociable man, but I see an inexhaustible fountain of emotions deep inside. Ask him to play for us Harry Warren's 1942 classic, "There will never be another you" next time.
Yes,I will ask him to play that song next time I shoot the new videos, and he is a working musician. He plays in about 3 or 4 different bands about every other week, not bad for being born in 1924!
Wow... that was my best 5:55 minutes of my life... I do actually like rock but... but hearing that sax and your playing made me enjoy a lot jazz music. I just want to ask, do where playing with a band or you put your sax over a track??
Excelent music! Ill keep in touch with your channel ;)
Hello,I recorded the sax with a sm57 mic and recorded with a fostex digital 8 track, mixed and panned all the tracks( although it sounds as if the youtube player isn't stereo) I then burn a cd with a sony cd recorder, ripped the songs to a wav file on the pc and synchronized the audio and video files with windows movie maker.Glad you like it,it is easy to mix when you have a sax that sounds that good. Thanks for watching,James
Hi,I used the hall reverb on the fostex when I did the final mixdown to cd.The sound of the sax comes from the musician's skill and a 1936 Conn tenor sax,the alto is a 80's USA Selmer sax. Thanks
Fantastic playing! I'd quit my day job if I could play that well. It's possible to get stereo on YouTube by uploading an .FLV with a total bitrate in the low 300K, a tradeoff between video and audio. You can hear the piano in stereo on my channel, Vid - My Foolish Heart. Or go to dieselbodine, vid - until the real thing comes along.

Thank you for your advices about recording setup. How are about the sax setup?
Could you tell us what kind of effect (echo, reverb...) is required to be adjusted in mixing process?
