I had NO (!) Idea she became a writer! Omgoodness....Shes the chick who sang those sweet, deep folkie songs right? I have the record. Sang along as a kid...omg is this her for real?? hehe! Great! Didnt know shes Canadian either! Always thought she was from the southern US cuz she sang so deeply and .,,,so real. She IS a very real earthy person huh? Lovely. thanks for sharing this. Peace
She looks absolutely wonderful!!! So glad to see that she's still active and out there and not the recluse I'd heard she'd become. I wish her well. Thanks for this clip.
@Laughandsong yeah, I'd like to compare her to most 70 somethings... she's a firecracker poet. Who is that on the cover of her book?? She definitly looks better than DYLAN! hahahah anyways..get ahold of of your superficial asses and pull your heads out of it. Time to focus on substance..reality..not fantasy island. Tattoo died along time ago kiddies.
Folks - to all you making certain comments ... reach deep inside of yourself and listen for just a moment:
You ...me... Gale Garnett ... none of us can stop the hands of time. Sure, we may slow it down ... but we can't stop it from turning the beautiful and bold into shadows of our former selves.
Sure...it hurts that she's no longer pretty... but look for the value in her; her writing - or the sparkle that remains in those big, brown eyes that still bear that intense gaze from years past.
A very talented lady, and she still looks great. You hear that voice....I'm only sorry that she does not sing anymore. God Bless you, Gale, and I wish you all the best as an author......!!
she was 22 when she recorded "sing in the sunshine".
I just watched again and she looked so confident and at ease with herself (could stare down that camera) and her eyes were so expressive and full of fun... so sexy
Gale's over 60 now; I think she looks great! Her career has been interesting -- at one point she lost the capacity to sing, can't do it any more. But her acting career has been quite steady, good reviews for her one-woman shows a few years back in Toronto. One of the originals in the Toronto version of Hair back in the day. Nice part in My Big Fat Greek Wedding. But it's sad she lost the singing voice.
That's definately her! When she does those wide-eyed expressions you can see the resemblance to her younger image. Sounds like she's trying to distance herself from her former singing career in order to be taken seriously as a writer. That's a shame given her wonderful voice.
@harvey1954 don';t think she's distancing herself from it, just think she knows that her voice doesn't really work so well anymore, and she's trying to focus on her writing. that's cool!
She is still my Favorite Lady singer of all time.

She is not ugly! She is a nice older lady and is about in her 70s and a good writer.

Wow she has changed so much over the years. I remember when I was a kid she visited our grade school before in the early 70's.

she's actually 68, born in Auckland NZ, mid 1942.
I still love "we'll sing in the sunshine" (it's on youtube), with her deep mellow but relaxed sound... yummy voice.
