@mrdude1433 Well the balls kinda in their court on this one. They know I'm interested and I have sent them some ideas for colabs. I think they are just real busy. But the squeaky wheel get the grease. So send them a bunch of emails and or post threads on their forum(tell your friends to do the same) expressing your interest and that might be enough to make it happen.
Hey Will, very cool stuff, I would like to see more diy projects on scratch built FPV fixed and rotary wing and especially quads from start to finish. Oh and use parts that I can find in the kitchen or bathroom. Nice. I also want to build a real light sabre. That would be cool. lol.. Ya I know .. that will happen.
Im really into scratch building. Anything dealing with scratch building foam aircraft would be appreciated. also, if you could touch on the different ways to cover or paint the Dollar Tree foam board I would appreciate it. Ive heard it can be done and have an idea of how, but I havent seen a decent tutorial on it yet. Also, a good step by step set up on how to set up for good AP and then transitioning into FPV on a budget would be nice.
Hi Mikey like your videos and have had a go at building one of your fpv planes . I had bit of a disaster so funny !!!! forgot to tighten the propella nut !!!! on first video, and on second video it was way to tail heavy and I do a perfect upside down landing. keep up the good work. my videos are' on u-tube under ( scusty 1 )
Just got done building your stock yc-14..lots of fun. How about designing a more efficent faster wing for it that still will allow it to fly slow. I was thinking about retracting leading edge slats for it that work with the flaps. Maybe a longer and narrower wing? I have seen people use the "step air foil wing" ? What is the best simple foam air foil? How about a plane body for it that is just the height and width of a GoPro, for efficiency. Keep up the good work. Mikeys& Flitetest=A1!
Hey Will! I'd love to hear your ideas on making a simple flybar lock for my soon-to-arrive Blade 450. I've been reading that a 3mm Allen wrench wedged just right will lock the flybar perfectly, but I was wondering if there was a more elegant solution. Thanks! -H
I would love to see like someone flying fpv from a point A to a point B location and see what kind of distance and payload would be possible with different configurations. I've seen peoples videos on youtube flying fpv for like 20 kms or something crazy like that. How about fly from Park A to Park B down the street and drop off something then fly back to Park A? All in FVP?!??!!?
@IsaacsBlogs Random?....it's a PSE brand with classic wooden riser =). But it's there because I use that room for occasional storage of stuff from some of my MANY other hobbies.
Congrats on getting the attention of FlightTest. You and they are my favorites.
I'd LOVE to see more learning to fly heli videos. Also, how about a take on a flying wing? How would you make one from foamboard? On an instructional side of things, perhaps a video on how you choose what electronics to use? Perhaps a primer on prop to motor to speed controller ratios.
Just a few ideas. Thanks for all your great work!
I tried a back up car cam yesterday on my big lama but my luck it was also on 2.4ghz! I am going to get a 900 I think. It would work for cheap heli fm fpv though via monitor. I would like to see a scratch build Pitts or other biplane with glued in balsa or hard foam struts. Maybe make a vector steering plane with coaxial guts from 3ch.
Hi Will, I think you should do some more scratch building, like maby 1 or 2 nice planes thats super fun to fly and not rerally all about FPV, it would be cool to have a nice fast good looking plane maby that jet you was taking about the Euro Fighter that would be pretty cool...
-nick PS. good vids and thanks a lot for the plans, really like them..!
- Flying wing (i.e. the Divinity). I am having tons of fun with my EPP wing--so tough, fast, and simple.
- I'd like to see a scratchbuilt jet
- More detailed setup/equipment on FPV
Also--a little bit of improvement on the video quality would be nice. Perhaps get a real microphone (sometimes the audio is pretty bad), and consider doing a bit of editing using a simple program such as iMovie.
Overall, your videos are awesome and I've built 2.5 of your planes!
Hi Mike, I'd like to see a highly efficient (glider-like) FPV platform using twin motors. The motors would sit as close as possible to the wing tips so that the wings would shake less. Also, the motors should be well chosen for maximum efficiency (I'm thinking of 2s with larger prop, lower kv). Thank you!
Thanks for your vids Will. I appreciate all you do for us. I hve been asking many rc chanells to build a large scale high wing using the massive turnigy aerodrive motors. Id love to see a 18 inch prop swinging off a scratch build. I am in the long process of building a spad ultrastick, instead of using the 26cc electric would be awesome I think.
@kGCryTeK FYI I do already have a "regular size" Cargo plane with build videos. It's called a YC-14. It can be built several different ways and has plans for a cargo drop mechanism.
Thanks Mikey!!!!! Choices, choices, choices. Park flyers, Helicopter training, and slow flyers interest me. Space to fly and a litigious society makes it necessary for safer slow flying aircraft and those that can be flown in limited space without the risk of damage might be the way to encourage new people to the hobby.
Just a wanted to say thanks for all your great video feeds. I'm new to the hobby and have learnt how to fly a heli through your videos and have just started to build your YC-14.
It would be great to see a video on FPV setups, so an extension to your build videos that explain the best setups and what you need to get into FPV flight.
Hi Mikey I really enjoy watching your videos as well I have built a 450 and 250 heli and at the moment I m doing the fine settings so I can get them to fly.
I should upload one of my video as soon the helis are ready.
i really enjoy the building videos i watched one of where you made the trainer scratch build from your site i really liked that but you didnt have any for some of the more popular builds you have i would really like to see you build the planes and show us how step by step i think thats where you would succeed on youtube the most
I like the experimental builds, but if you know anything about aerospace engineering it would be neat to see that incorporated instead of just educated guessing.
3D heli vids would be cool too since I just used your video series on the EXI to build my own.
Also, I've really wanted to learn about making my own Dremel-CNC machine to make maybe a quadcopter frame or somethin like that.
I'm really enjoying your F-22 single EDF version. I'd like to see more similar to that style of build. Looking forward to seeing whatever it is you come up with next though.
Hello, I have been working on a rc model of the Battlestar Galactica the Cylon Raider. I am combining the old model with the new TV series. I will send you pics.
learning to fly 3d together aswell as just going from hover to forward flight as that where I'm at right now. doing some scale heli stuff like fuselages would be cool.we all want to do that im sure, and maybe doing a home built quad or tri copter would be cool as am flirting with the idea of building one. doing a twin prop plane would also be cool, a cessna 310 or a p-38 or some other variant. some people are saying micro rc I vote for jumbo rc. I want to see large scale foamies 60" wingspan?
How About Filling The Void That RCSuperPowers Left When They Quit Doing The Fun, Zany, Crazy, Experimental Foamies. After Every "Sales" Pitch Video He Does Now, People Are Begging Him To Go Back To The Cool Videos And He Won't Do It. There Is A Huge Vacuum There That Needs Filling. Think About It! Thank You!
Have you thought about getting into micro rc .... I just recently started getting into it and it's a lot of fun ..... I would like to build my own indoor plane one of these days, but I have a lot of questions and theres not much in the way of DIY micro rc. Just a thought. Thank you for all the time you put into your videos. You have really made rc flight fun for me again and I thank you for that! Keep up the good work man!!
Great video's and I am a fan of both stations. I built your fpv plane last year and I loved it. Keep up the good work and I am looking forward to more fpv videos.
You should make a contest where you challenge your subscriber community to build a plane to accomplish a specific task. The challengers upload their aircraft videos (possibly plans as well), then you surprise us with your aircraft to perform the design task and then you rate and compare all the planes or perhaps put it up to a vote by your subscribers :)
Hey Will, we would be excited to dedicate a section of our site to your build plans, videos and any other RC related information you want to share. I collaborate with the flitetest guys and have a dedicated video section for all flitetest videos. Come check out our community and get in touch with me if you want to be featured. My RC Hobby Zone is a community of RC Enthusiasts from around the world sharing knowledge, information, events, photos and videos.
Hmmmm. I'd like to see Mikey's rc get away from the conventional. The eclipse 400 was cool because it is so unique, but still scale.
An FSW (forward swept wing) fighter would be cool! X-29, Rockwell X-31 Saberbat (different than the highly maneuverable delta of the same name) or WF-33 Leviathan!!! Now that would be awesome!!! A stable at all speeds, but very maneuverable jet that flies like the F-22. I think that would be cool.
Would like to see larger scale airplanes. Greater than 70" wingspan. Loved seeing your playing on flite test. You are the first site I came across when I got back into the hobby. Ever since I have been hooked
first i should say that you were the one who inspired me enough with your videos to enter the RC world.
i want to first comment on your delta/bi-plane idea: i think it would fly better if you were to move the upper wing much more forward at least 10inches or so.
i like your FPV v3 plane as well, i havent gotten around to try it out just yet.
in the future you could get into miniature (indoor) airplanes (wood and foil) that interests me (especially electronics for such tiny planes) thx
Awesome to see that they reviewed your plane on flitetest. One thing that I would like see is a very thorough video on an FPV set up, reviews on FPV gear, long range set ups, range test and of course, keep the experimentals coming.
Hey will, great vids! YES, please please do a collab with flitetest, that would be awesome!!! Can we see an amphibious scratchbuild? Thanks, keep up the great work.
@MrKangriman Flitetest mentioned they would be publishing a build video. If you post pics of your plane on my forum then I could take a look and maybe see what went wrong. As you can see from Flitetest's video it is a stable plane.
I like scratch building simple, sheet, slow flyers. In time I will want to move up to rolled fuselages that look like something scale. I am not into purchased kits all that much, but I do have more than a dozen I may build one day. At the moment I am playing around with mono-wing builds of pre-WW1 and WW1 fighters like the Fokker EIII, Morane, Pfalz Etrich Taube Depardussin, Nieuport, Hanriot, Bristol, and etc. Mostly hand gliders at this point. The gliders are canard style and fly well.
More quad stuff! More about mounting GoPros to quads - without getting any of the quad in the shot. FPV stuff using a GoPro on a quad. Quads are the future of stable aerial video, and the more info on that the better. Thanks for all your work!
You gotta do more Heli stuff!! I followed and learned from your 450 build videos. I'm now flyin 600 nitros! I'm sure many will benefit from "how to fly" videos.
Ok I see a bow in the back ground. Is that going to be your next launcher heheh. Maybe you are going to shoot a plane out of the air? heheh. I would love to see a sea plane with foam board. I know you tried one but it didn`t get off the ground so to speak. But I am happy with what ever you do dude. All of your stuff a real interesting and educating. thanks from Canada.
Well done Will! Allways liked building your planes and i bet its nice to be recognised on such a great rc channel like flitetest! Your even more famous now my friend lol!
u should definately do some videos with flitetest, that would be great. All the other stuff that u mentioned sounds great but i would be most interested in experimental aircraft designs, 3d helicopters, models of real aircraft (anykind), maybe a autogyro
Congrats, Will! I'd love to see Euro fighter or a jet with canards would be nice. Would love to see a slow high alpha plane too. Also love your experimental planes!

WILL...JOSH and JOSH show! go for it, would be a good episode!

hi will,
first i should say that you were the one who inspired me enough with your videos to enter the RC world.
i want to first comment on your delta/bi-plane idea: i think it would fly better if you were to move the upper wing much more forward at least 10inches or so.
i like your FPV v3 plane as well, i havent gotten around to try it out just yet.
in the future you could get into miniature (indoor) airplanes (wood and foil) that interests me (especially electronics for such tiny planes) thx

why dont you do an f-18, a flying wing and a 3d plane? Maby a trainer with the the motor on the back and more prop planes what do you think?
LarryTheStormtrooper 1 month ago
for your next project you should make a ww1 style biplane

Awesome to see that they reviewed your plane on flitetest. One thing that I would like see is a very thorough video on an FPV set up, reviews on FPV gear, long range set ups, range test and of course, keep the experimentals coming.

Oh, and i like your scratchbuilds the best so I hope for the most of those in 2012.

Hey will, great vids! YES, please please do a collab with flitetest, that would be awesome!!! Can we see an amphibious scratchbuild? Thanks, keep up the great work.

@theRCexperiment I would also love to see an amphibious scratch built!

You will be amazed at what you will learn doing experimental designs.

hey i tryed building the plane and it was verry unstable could u make an actual build vid
MrKangriman 1 month ago

ChadWork1 1 month ago
You gotta do more Heli stuff!! I followed and learned from your 450 build videos. I'm now flyin 600 nitros! I'm sure many will benefit from "how to fly" videos.

I like "mission challenges", like how fast, how far, how much payload, stuff like that. Can't go wrong with FPV either.

Your build-videos are the best! Ceep up with them! experiment with planes, and maybe build quadcopters? :)

I would be extremely grateful if you could continue "Learning to fly" helicopter videos. Big fan of your videos.

u should definately do some videos with flitetest, that would be great.
