Remember the Nixon "Southern strategy". This was when the republican party went out and actively the southern racists to win the election. They succeeded but unfortunately, they ended up with the long term effects. If you go back to the 1940s and 1950s, they were on the right side of the issue (mostly) but always lost in the south. I agree, think of it like a small town when walmart comes in...they have all kinds of backing and take hits on products, however the original small businesses can't go that low on price and go out of business cause they can't compete. The same will be true with this insurance. I would be all for a not-for-profit started with gov't money, but that would be the only exchange of money. They'd be on their own afterwards. I wouldn't want it tied to our current debt.

Remember the Nixon "Southern strategy". This was when the republican party went out and actively the southern racists to win the election. They succeeded but unfortunately, they ended up with the long term effects. If you go back to the 1940s and 1950s, they were on the right side of the issue (mostly) but always lost in the south. Hopefully, they will rediscover their roots and become the party they were in the past. The current situation is unhealthy for the country.

You think public option is a freebie? either you don't know the facts or your lying, the Public option will still take premiums from the insured, but instead of making 30% Profit/Admin cost, it will use 4% for admin.

Every health care system in the world has these anecdotal horror stories. As a Canadian, and a resident of the province of Quebec, I know our system needs work, it is not the best or perfect. However, not having to worry about how to pay for health treatment, not having to worry about an insurance company denying a claim because of some unrelated farcical preexisting condition nonsense, that is the peace of mind I wish America had, every American. The uninsured get treatments...They don't pay... The hospital increases its costs to compensate (You didn't think they would take the loss did you?)...Isurance companies pay more...We pay higher premiums.

2. RATIONED CARE? Right now care is rationed by companies like United Helathcare who routinely deny valid claims.

I haven't read the bill, but I think enough to know that a gov't option, which has limitless funds (just look at the national debt) doesn't have to worry about going in the red, and can charge low prices that don't have to worry about the market. This scenario will BANKRUPT other businesses, meaning lost health insurance...look at the big picture remember. Look at the forest not just a few of the trees.
Anytime you have bureaucrats trying to find ways to save money, rationing will happen.

Couple things:
1. No "limitless funds", seed money to start it and then it pays for itself. You're right that when the PROFIT that insurance companies make as an intermediary between sick people and health care is tacked on, they will be charging more than the public plan which doesn't seek a profit.
2. Yes, with innovation some old models will fail. That's capitalism. You're saying "People can't be allowed cell phones or the internet because we have to protect the telegraph industry."

I agree, think of it like a small town when walmart comes in...they have all kinds of backing and take hits on products, however the original small businesses can't go that low on price and go out of business cause they can't compete. The same will be true with this insurance. I would be all for a not-for-profit started with gov't money, but that would be the only exchange of money. They'd be on their own afterwards. I wouldn't want it tied to our current debt.

If Obama Crap Care goes thru - they could be forced to have to take Medicare/Gov payment and be booked all day with only them? No way they could pay for any start up. They will be forced to be an = Associate only. They could never take that chance and end up bankrupt. I used to work Dental and the cost of Start up is really high. ObamaCARE would make that impossible!

Have the gov't front some money for a not-for-profit, and never ever get money from the gov't again, (which probably wouldn't happen, I realize that..make a law that they couldn't funnel anymore money to them) which would provide the cheaper insurance for all those screaming about profits.
