  • This was our wedding song in 1982, still have the album on vinyl.

  • WE ALL NEED LOVE is also a great track (though not a single) from this legendary album. Thanks for good memories of my radio days.

  • @tubellarbells uh I don't think We all need love was on their first album. It was on their second one (I know because I own the first album signed by Jack Griffith)

  • @rocklee833 Hi there. At least US Polydor pressing has We All Need Love as 3rd track on side 1:

    Novo Combo (1981)Side one: 1.Up Periscope (Stephen Dees)/2.City Bound (E train) (Stephen Dees/Desmond Child)/3.We need love (Pete Hewlett/Michael Shrieve/Jack Griffith/ Stephen Dees)/4.Long Road (Stephen Dees/Jack Griffith) 5.Tattoo (Pete Hewlett)

    Greetings.

  • OH MY GOSH! I almost cried when I found this on You Tube. See, back in '81 when this came out, I really loved the song and what it meant, and then I didn't hear it anymore. I kept a clipping of the lyrics from Song Hits magazine for 30 years, in the hope that I'd find it again somewhere, and dug the clipping out of the box today. Why not? I'll check YouTube. Sure enough...It's great to hear this song again!

  • I dedicated this to my Dad, and Wife!

  • The drummer is Micheal Shrieve.....that use to be the drummer for Santana in 1969 at Woodstock.

  • Audio cleaned up on this utube version.. thanks... great song and band

  • Oh gees I used to listen to this way often on vinyl; will have to see if it's on cd! (yeah, even though I still have almost all my vinyl and I'm sure I didn't get rid of this'un) Thanks for posting!

  • some big dude with a big heart named Ed told me to go out and buy the album because he knew someone in the band.I worked with him in a steel mill named shasta in groveton coraopolic,PA. he gave good advice!! I still throw the album on and remember the old days.thanks Ed. jack

  • Why in the hell this album has not been re-issued/re-mastered on CD is beyond me...

    Great tune!

  • They played K.C. on Nov. 11, 1982 at the Uptown. It was my friend's 22nd birthday. What a great show. I have Animation on album; one day I'll transfer to CD. Still don't know why Wounded Bird can't put both albums on a disk, like The Kings.

  • @timconcierge I was at the same show. They started about a half hour before the show was to begin and opened with "Sorry for the Delay"! I am pretty sure I have the ticket stub. I save them all. Only cost $1.05..

  • Stephen Dees formed the band after he left Hall & Oates. He was married to my

1st. cousin Michelle. Sadly the marriage ended not long after Novo Combo's 2nd Album. My Mother Paula (Michelle's Aunt) was the inspiration for the song "She Runs" . My mom had a hard life. like so many, who can't cope, found comfort/misery in the bottom of a bottle. She was respected by all . She left the earth way to soon. Thanks Stephen for the tribute. It is what it is.

    I miss you mom.

    Gregg

  • anyone have a link for "sorry for the delay"? they opened the show, in KC in 1981/82, and was blown away through the whole show. A fan forever!

  • Does anyone remember, didn't Carlos Rios spend some time in this band? Carlos is another great guitar player who had done some work with Gino Vannelli. Thanks

  • DougM63-

Dont think it was KQRS..Was on more Stereo 101

with Mark Seger in the morning.

  • Wow!! I've been just sitting here searching up favorite songs that I rarely hear and they're all here. Who would have thought? Thanks so much for posting this. I love this song.

  • Listen to the hook of this song, someone needs to tell the little pop star Jordan Sparks she owes some royality money!! This band was never the same after Jack Griffith left. Thanks for posting this great tune from a great 80's Band!

  • genial, merci

  • "KQ" in the twin cities used to play this alot when it came out.....

  • first guitarist=jack girffith

  • I lived in Manhattan in the early 80's and used to see this band play at Trax and a club called The 80's. They were much better live.

I think they lost their magic when the first guitar player left the band.

  • Great song, thank you for posting, never thought id hear it again....

  • Jack Griffith, if you read this post, I can't believe my best friend found you first! ha ha Little did she know I had for years lusted after the guitarist from Novo Combo. lol I still feel like a silly teenager whenever we talk. lol Don't tell lollipop.

  • Heh, Jack is my old guitar teacher.

  • 1982 buddie had cass use to listen to it on the way to greenville ave,big D great music, could you please post.so sorry for the delay. thanks nolan

  • I'd love to see them live Again.

  • There are legit concept music videos for this song and 'Up Periscope' with Novo Combo. MTV used to give them some airtime back in the early '80s.

I was hoping to find them on here but so far haven't seen 'em posted.

The video for 'Tatoo' was cool - had this sexy female with tattoos painted all over herself dancing around the members of the band while the lead singer sang to her.

It'll probably be posted at some point.

  • heh heh....I have this album too...if anyone wants this song, I have it on my computer. Just thought that I would throw that out there!

  • look for the album "Animation Generation" awsome guitar swooping solos by Carlos Rios

  • I have AG on vinyl. Love the sound....

  • I would buy the CD if it was re-issued.

  • Awesome Group! Would love if reissued on CD.

    Mike Gallichio
