I never understood why managers played him as a deffensive midfielder, years after years ive had this discussion with friends about him having alot of potential and could be one of the best defenders if he is played in his natural position. It only took Mancini what 1 season before he realised that "hey Kompany you should play as a CB" Now he is back to where he belongs, CItys best defender and top 3 in the premier leauge!

Kompany is the first of a new generation of Belgian players (the hope of a small coutry, quite sad); our national team is incredibly young, and our junior national team is a semi-finalist in tournaments.He is considered though as the greatest talent, from when he was 17 or 18. He is without a doubt the player who gets the most respect in Belgium.

I've seen him play for over 100 hours: he is brilliant. But in my opinion he should've left Belgium at 19 instead of 20, and not go to Hamburg.

I don't want to be pessimistic but in Belgium, people tend to think that players are really really good if they play well in our 'Jupiler League' (terrible name btw...). Defour is still a good player, but he should have been better at this age (23). I really don't see him playing in big teams or in other competitions because there are many alternatives for him. Competition in Belgium is nothing compared with England, France, Holland, Germany! But still, I hope he proves me wrong!!

fully deserved his place in the PFA team of the year and was without doubt our most consistant and best performer all season.looking at that lineup i wrote 2 years ago gave made me laugh - Jo is possibly the worst signing we've made in the last 3 years - anyway I'm very happy with the squad we've got now just need one or two more players. I don't think we need any more strikers though now Mancini just needs to adopt a more attacking mentality with the players he's already got.

@Schaezen The media are starting to rate him very highly now. Critics/experts and fans have rated him highly since he came. As a United fan I honestly believe at this time he's the 2nd best CB in the league, behind Vidic. And he's only young too. Doesn't get the credit he deserves at City.
