you can get some unreal clean sounds out of GR2. But a lot of tweaking needed to achieve good distortion sound. I bought it so I don't have to carry my 5150 II around. So I can just plug into house PA. It sounds quite disappointing, so I ended up running it through 5150 II anyway. Maybe I just need to get EON or something.

have u tried it with good speakers,dont try it with cheap speakers.i recommend u using guitar amp.and also u must have a good sound card.else,it wont give u the true sound.i dont think guitar rig sounds shitty at all.

You're right about the speakers, but you don't need a sound card for it at all because the guitar rig IS a sound card itself.
