@ninjainvzn We only assumed, because it was 3 Zerg, and based on our scouting. It was a legit ladder match, we did not set this game up or anything. Also, this is way back from beta, so cheese strategies were very common.
Husky's video is called "how to always win 3v3 (or Atleast a lot)". He admitted it wouldn't always win in the name of the video. He just said he himself has never met a counter for it.
@DuoSpear To beat triple roach-rush, attack before the roaches (before 4:30-5:30 game-time is typical roach timings). So either zergling/marine/2-gate zealot rush. OR rush for marauders/stim, 4-gate stalkers, and roaches/mass speedling as zerg.

Good way to stop the 7 pool really messed with em when they couldn't get in, especially with the amount of damage done to them for a pylon and a probe. But really, not great zerg players. But IMO, they should have left after killing the first pylon or rushed by. It's like, 450 minerals down the drain in exchange for a pylon and a probe -______-.

@ArtThroughAmbience Yeah they weren't the best zerg players, perhaps running by and going for the worker-line would have done more damage. My only tip is stay on top of scouting, and you can usually get away with a free early fast expand, which will set you ahead economically, so you should work on builds around that too. Goodluck!

You do realize how much your enemies sucked right? after they busted through the wall they just attacked the cannons like total noobs instead of going for the workers. They are the ones that fail, not the build, good players using that build will still win 3v3 4 times out of 5. Thats the reason why no one pays attention to what rank you are in 3v3.

@samguild Yeah I think in lower level brackets, such as gold and below, it may work 4 out of 5 times, because people in that level dont scout well enough, and might not be expecting it. I guess I cant really speak for all diamond level players, but for my team anyway, if we ever go into a game with 3 zerg, we scout right away for it so that it never catches us by surprise.

It's not even cheesing dude. This is a rush. And the guys shouldnt have attacked the cannon, even if you had lings coming in, their lings group was greater than yours.
@Balgore8 not true, its still called a zergling rush and not cheese. Cheesing more like doing something lame, ling rush is there for a reason. If it was cheesing/cheap, they would have nerfed it. Nonetheless, since its a normal RUSH, it is definitely counterable.
@JealousLosers Honestly, dont even argue with me until you do some research on the matter. Go to teamliquid[dot]net. They dont nerf cheese, otherwise everything in the game would be different. There are many many many 'unnerfed' cheese strategies. A legit zergling rush is 9-pool. This is a 7 pool, leaves your economy incredibly behind, and is a very high risk vs high reward strategy. It is most definitely cheese, and most definitely "all-in".

also to add they were stupid..they actually went through so if they had continued making lings and rallied it to that base they would have tons of lings in your base.
well it was easy to stop cause the chokes were so small and you had two protoss. If you had two terrans and yourself as a zerg you probably would have failed if you had tried your bunker barrack build at the chokes. Having said that i agree with you that its obviously not impossible but it can be extremely difficult when the bases are seperate or when the chokes are large. Also they were garbage..no overseer? also diamond league doesnt mean anything unfortunately
@carnegieyk Yeah, keep in mind too that this video was back from beta, when players were all around worse. But I think Terrans are okay defending against lings, even better than Protoss. They can wall with depots, as long as they get that barracks up and pump a single marine, it can go to town on the lings all day and you just need 2-3 scvs repairing the depots.
The only problem with cheese is if you don't understand why it works and can't adjust if it doesn't work. Nice job Balgore, but I do wonder what happens if you're on a map where walling in is tougher (or with a Zerg teammate who can't wall in). Or if they choose not to do the rush but grab the early expasions, because you've gotta assume they are going to rush you.

@Talezassian I agree it would be a lot harder on a map where you cannot easily wall in. The best choice in that situation imo is to get some static def up at your mineral line, cannons, bunkers, or spine crawlers. And then whoever gets hit, either your allies better come defend them, or counter attack and make it count.

@KarmaTailDragger Well we encountered the triple zerg team with all the same portrait (so we assumed they werent random) and this was a day or two after Husky's video. So yeah, our nooby-cheese-senses were tingling and we prepared for it lol.
Waiting for proper scouting information can be a good idea, but if you ever encounter a same-race arranged team you can usually expect cheese.

Walling off in a 3v3 is also really common regardless of the other teams or what build they are going. Speedlings will RUIN your day if you do not have a solid wall up.

and if they don't go for 7 pool, but for mutas, you lose. Everything is balanced and there's no unbeatable strategy, there are only those that you don't know how to stop (yet). Without scouting it is like paper-rock-scissors.
@Tyfyh If they didnt go for 7 pool and they went for mutas we would surely have scouted that and played differently... As you say, there is no undefeatable strategy, and one thing is for sure, all 3 teams massing 1 unit is BEGGING to be absolutely countered. The best strategies are mixes of all counter types between all three players so that your army cannot be 1-unit countered, and you can counter anything your opponents throw at you.
@Balgore8 but you didn't scout at all. And you couldn't because you walled off. To ensure this is 7 pool and to be able to react to other build with this wall, you must sacrifice a probe.
Copying a build is a noobish style, those who can play well will definitely alter it.

A single bunker with a marine in it can thwart this, a photon cannon (well placed where lings cant surround it), or a zealot or two with probe support can hold this (protoss has the hardest time defending with no wall and all 3 teams at him), a zerg can throw down spine crawlers.

Husky did pretty much state that it was near-impossible to stop. Also, this was beta, and that was my off race, so judging my build at that point is irrelevant
rush youre way through to diamond league is stupid like nothing else... Of course you win (most of times) but you can be sure, youre skills wont improve ...
1) You guys KNEW they were doing the husky rush thus it gave you the upper hand, if you had not known chances are it would have done alot more damage or even won.
2) Husky even said its doesn;t always work, but it works most of the time.

I didn't see any scouting. I figured th only reason you knew it was 3 zerg was because of the races before game starts. I mean i have seen 3 zerg and they don;t always win with husky rush (Then again I am in bronze league... but slowly but surly i get closer and closer to silver.
Still i guess if you see 3 zerg, whether they husky rush or not, on that level, you want to wall it off. Zergling rush is never fun (Unless you're the one rushing)

And walling off vs 3 zerg definitely isnt a bad idea since at any point in the game sneaking 12 speedlings into your base can do a lot of damage, so a wall is necessary no matter what.
@wesker723 Are you talking about 1v1, or 3v3 where 3 zergs rush a single zerg? It still isnt impossible, though it is harder to deal with. Once scouted, the Zerg player needs to throw down 2 spore crawlers right away. All allies can then stream their marines/zealots to his base for protection. Even if the crawlers aren't done perfectly in time, as long as you can protect them long enough to pop you should be able to handle it. Especially with a marine and/or zealot helping you out too.
@FightClubClub There are a lot of cheesing noobs in diamonds. Because cheese works greatly against noobs, only other diamond level players really know how to deal with it, so you should easily be able to win your way into diamond with cheese if you practice it and do it exclusively, as a noob. But youll suck straight up, or if your cheese ever fails, thats why no noobs are even close to the top 50 of any diamond division.
@GrazerBlade Zerg will typically have left over minerals and always zero gas. If you notice, I do keep my gas pretty much near zero the whole game. Sure, I probably could have invested those minerals into lings or something, but keep in mind this was back in beta (when I was slightly worse), and this is my off-race, I only play Terran, this was maybe the 10th time I had ever played Zerg.

I just want people to know who do this rush that if you do it especially in 1v1 or 2v2 and ur 7 pool is failed you will lose cause they can dominate you with like 3 zealots or even a couple marines. And if you do a 2v2 and try this make sure you know they guy your allied with cause you would be litteraly putting him at a 1v2 if your rush fails.
@traiboivn Indeed. I have encountered this a few times recently on maps where you all have separated bases. As long as it gets scouted, you should always have enough time to wall off. If you're zerg, you better throw down spine crawlers and have your allies come to assist you with what they have. If youre toss, put 1 zealot in the only gap to your base. If youre terran, fully wall and the marine should be able to thwart it (repair the depot if necessary)
@Shadytree4 Nope, it was a 7 pool and 3v3. The reason it is 7 and not 6 is because the timings actually work out very very similar. Getting that 7th drone is much better economically and worth the slight delay in the pool.

this is pretty doable if you start in a base with common choke points that you can defend but it's harder if you are divided. me and 2 friends just lost to this tactic, we were T P Z against Z Z Z, me (protoss) and the terran managed to wall off but they rushed our zerg mate and killed him right away, we responded and eventually killed one of them but in the end they won the game. if you have divided bases and the 3 zergs rush a lonely zerg there's not much you can do about it..
@KleRoi True, if you cant defend successfully, ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK instead! It is hard to deal with though on maps where your team is split and they are 3v1ing your allies...
Husky is a good player but telling people this is an unbalanced build and its uncounterable probably confuses people that arent good at sc2. Good job posting this video.
@eric96961 Thanks! I agree with you completely. New players should learn that there is no "win everytime" strategy, and they should instead focus on improving their skill straight up, rather than with cheesy play.
I guess it helps that you guys all knew what to do to stop the 3x7pool. ive only been up against it once, and i was also zerg, one player did the worst walloff ever and all the lings just mosey'd on through on their way to our party, ended in ultimate fail.
really does depend on getting that walloff and some things behind it to kill the lings, or your just delaying the inevitable. enevitable? i have no idea.
If you're not ready for it with a tight frontal wall, you lose.
Also, the people you played against sucked pretty bad (like he watched all his drones die). It seems like they were able to cheese their way up to Diamond/Platinum.
@ForbiddianSC You know what im finding a LOT stronger build that so far I have seen no one able to deal with. Me as Zerg or Terran, and my two allies as Toss, doing a 4 gate timing push. The sheer amount of forces we have will overwhelm the enemy if they teched, expanded, or did anything other than match us. If they rush earlier, we will have the units to defend, and if they match us, its an equal game from there.
@Bitchtiki even if you don't automatically assume 7 pool when you see 3 zerg on the loading screen, a simple scout will show exactly what they are doing, imo if for any stretch of the game you do not know what your opponent is doing you are more than likely going to loose

Yeah six or seven pool is easy to block once you get those walls. BUT, roach rush by 3 zerg is... kind of hard to block even with walls and cannons.

There are many many many 'unnerfed' cheese strategies. A legit zergling rush is 9-pool. This is a 7 pool, leaves your economy incredibly behind, and is a very high risk vs high reward strategy. It is most definitely cheese, and most definitely "all-in".

well it was easy to stop cause the chokes were so small and you had two protoss. If you had two terrans and yourself as a zerg you probably would have failed if you had tried your bunker barrack build at the chokes. Having said that i agree with you that its obviously not impossible but it can be extremely difficult when the bases are seperate or when the chokes are large. Also they were garbage..no overseer? also diamond league doesnt mean anything unfortunately

@carnegieyk Yeah, keep in mind too that this video was back from beta, when players were all around worse. But I think Terrans are okay defending against lings, even better than Protoss. They can wall with depots, as long as they get that barracks up and pump a single marine, it can go to town on the lings all day and you just need 2-3 scvs repairing the depots.

The only problem with cheese is if you don't understand why it works and can't adjust if it doesn't work. Nice job Balgore, but I do wonder what happens if you're on a map where walling in is tougher (or with a Zerg teammate who can't wall in). Or if they choose not to do the rush but grab the early expasions, because you've gotta assume they are going to rush you.

@Talezassian I agree it would be a lot harder on a map where you cannot easily wall in. The best choice in that situation imo is to get some static def up at your mineral line, cannons, bunkers, or spine crawlers. And then whoever gets hit, either your allies better come defend them, or counter attack and make it count.

As you say, there is no undefeatable strategy, and one thing is for sure, all 3 teams massing 1 unit is BEGGING to be absolutely countered. The best strategies are mixes of all counter types between all three players so that your army cannot be 1-unit countered, and you can counter anything your opponents throw at you.

@EcoDimension In which case you have to make a solid 'sim-city' around your mineral line/command center/hatch/nexus. A single bunker with a marine in it can thwart this, a photon cannon (well placed where lings cant surround it), or a zealot or two with probe support can hold this (protoss has the hardest time defending with no wall and all 3 teams at him), a zerg can throw down spine crawlers.

1) You guys KNEW they were doing the husky rush thus it gave you the upper hand, if you had not known chances are it would have done alot more damage or even won.
2) Husky even said its doesn;t always work, but it works most of the time.

I didn't see any scouting. I figured th only reason you knew it was 3 zerg was because of the races before game starts. I mean i have seen 3 zerg and they don;t always win with husky rush (Then again I am in bronze league... but slowly but surly i get closer and closer to silver.
Still i guess if you see 3 zerg, whether they husky rush or not, on that level, you want to wall it off. Zergling rush is never fun (Unless you're the one rushing)

@wesker723 Are you talking about 1v1, or 3v3 where 3 zergs rush a single zerg? It still isnt impossible, though it is harder to deal with. Once scouted, the Zerg player needs to throw down 2 spore crawlers right away. All allies can then stream their marines/zealots to his base for protection. Even if the crawlers aren't done perfectly in time, as long as you can protect them long enough to pop you should be able to handle it. Especially with a marine and/or zealot helping you out too.

Because cheese works greatly against noobs, only other diamond level players really know how to deal with it, so you should easily be able to win your way into diamond with cheese if you practice it and do it exclusively, as a noob. But youll suck straight up, or if your cheese ever fails, thats why no noobs are even close to the top 50 of any diamond division.

@GrazerBlade Zerg will typically have left over minerals and always zero gas. If you notice, I do keep my gas pretty much near zero the whole game. Sure, I probably could have invested those minerals into lings or something, but keep in mind this was back in beta (when I was slightly worse), and this is my off-race, I only play Terran, this was maybe the 10th time I had ever played Zerg.

I just want people to know who do this rush that if you do it especially in 1v1 or 2v2 and ur 7 pool is failed you will lose cause they can dominate you with like 3 zealots or even a couple marines. And if you do a 2v2 and try this make sure you know they guy your allied with cause you would be litteraly putting him at a 1v2 if your rush fails.

@traiboivn Indeed. I have encountered this a few times recently on maps where you all have separated bases. As long as it gets scouted, you should always have enough time to wall off. If you're zerg, you better throw down spine crawlers and have your allies come to assist you with what they have. If youre toss, put 1 zealot in the only gap to your base. If youre terran, fully wall and the marine should be able to thwart it (repair the depot if necessary)

this is pretty doable if you start in a base with common choke points that you can defend but it's harder if you are divided. me and 2 friends just lost to this tactic, we were T P Z against Z Z Z, me (protoss) and the terran managed to wall off but they rushed our zerg mate and killed him right away, we responded and eventually killed one of them but in the end they won the game. if you have divided bases and the 3 zergs rush a lonely zerg there's not much you can do about it..

I guess it helps that you guys all knew what to do to stop the 3x7pool. ive only been up against it once, and i was also zerg, one player did the worst walloff ever and all the lings just mosey'd on through on their way to our party, ended in ultimate fail.
really does depend on getting that walloff and some things behind it to kill the lings, or your just delaying the inevitable. enevitable? i have no idea.

@ForbiddianSC You know what im finding a LOT stronger build that so far I have seen no one able to deal with. Me as Zerg or Terran, and my two allies as Toss, doing a 4 gate timing push. The sheer amount of forces we have will overwhelm the enemy if they teched, expanded, or did anything other than match us. If they rush earlier, we will have the units to defend, and if they match us, its an equal game from there.
