  • the guy walking up looks like he's got something stuck up his ass

  • Thanks for the insight, guys. These throws were added as karateka spread to mainland Japan, and had to deal with opponents who were judo experts; this immediately made the fighting distance greater (and even more when the Kendo guys jumped in).Jigoro Kano & Funakoshi were good friends. You guys seem to have it sorted. Byobadaoshi, komanage, kubiwa, katawaguruma, tsubamegaeshi, yaridama, taniotoshi, udewa & sakatsuchi are demo'd here,in that order.

  • Looks more like Aikido throws than Judo but still very nice.

  • @pcjudosambo Agreed. With the exception of a morote gari there wasn't any Judo. Just because someone ends up on the ground doesn't make it Judo.

  • @droman30 oh yeah, definitely true. There are judo throws, Aikido, JuJutsu, Sambo, Wrestling, etc ... yes they all share 90% of techniques but each art and style does have a few % that do not cross over into the other arts, which make them unique. I do not know much about Karate but I do know that their grappling (basic throws and a few basic submissions) is a combination of old style jujutsu, modern Judo & Aikido.
