I seriously wonder if God gave him a vision or perhaps a prophetic type dream?? He is VERY well aware that something is coming. You've drunk far more left-wing kool aid. To believe you actually want to raise taxes on anyone who makes more than $35k a year. I promise you MLK is chillin right now though, still looking down and he's gotta be filled with pride now. His boy Barrack is on the way to the White house.
Staggering. He clearly knew his life was in danger and used this last speech to reinforce the faith of those around him. In other words 'you will fight on without me because death will not slow the progress of the freedom we seek' What an amazing speech.
he acts as if he knew he was going to be kiiled.but not knowing when, he faced it and felt free from all fears this life offers and afterthat he had nomore use for this life and wanted to go.after facing death i bet it was pretty liberating
I found this speech even more powerful after I learned that MLK was very ill with a 24hr bug and high temperature during his presentation. According to a motivational speaker who does MLK speech re-enactments, King wanted to cancel his appearance due to illness but his assistants told him that the crowd waiting for him might become unruly if he did not arrive and address them. He was able to deliver his message, but still was so ill that he needed assistance back to his seat after speaking.
the words of malcolm x rings true. the price of freedom is death. so many have died, and so many are going to die. freedom has a sweet but deadly taste.
MLK is looking down from heaven and smiling seeing Barack Obama running for President. This speech is so enspiring. It's like he knew he was going to get killed and yet he had so much hope.
since this was his last speech, .. like it sounds like he knows like he's going to die the next day. cause this is the day before he died. [[im not sure.. but yeah]] it's like he's doing a sacrifice to the people. and, he's a very brave man.
many will live to remember you and service and legacy your left to this nation remember kenya where you are because thereis ful of injustice and black to black discrimination.
LOL Truth sucks doesn't it? Boston University found MLK guilty of plagiarism and close associate/friend of MLK even said he was a womanizer. So why does MLK get away with plagiarism while someone else with a PhD would get their degree instantly revoked for a fraction of the amount of plagiarism that MLK was found guilty of? That is RACIST.....so it really wasnt HIS last speech was it?
There is no good man, no not even one. Yet I know of only a few men ever in history and none after this man that has ever stood up for the poor and was man enough to continue like a Spartan even in the face of being hated by many in the greatest nation on Earth.
Most would tuck their tails and hide with an untold amount of people wishing death upon you everyday.
even so....he should not be concidered a dr. ....yes a great leader and someone who stood for equal rights, but was a womanizer and plagerized his "i have a dream" speech....
it's true that dr. king plagiarized and cheated on his wife. i think he would be the first to own up to his sins and admit that he was not the perfect human being some have made him out to be. but to say that those transgressions diminish his legacy or historical standing reflects an astounding pettiness and small-mindedness on your part, kate. was dr. king any less a leader or inspirational figure because of the things you mention? the answer, of course, is no.
nobody asked you oldbaldy.....get into your own business......and by the way he was a womanizer and stole his speeckes...how you like them apples?....so go suck one....and no i am not racist you stupid fool, just did some research on the topic...you might wanna try that before you stick your nose into something you know nothing about. have a wonderful day.
In the eyes of the Lord, we all fall short. It is pretty easy to see your short comings just by reading a few sentences. I hope you do not stay as sad as you are now for your whole life. That would be a true waste.
King was tring to tell us he had seen and he knew his time was near to leave us. He was tring to tell us to be saved that is how we get to the promise land. Not by ourselfs but by Christ. king had a message of hope to free us from the bondage of sin...can you not hear this?
I've read that he had a dream the day before his assassination (the morning before this speech) he had a dream that he would be killed. So it's quite prophetic to listen to this speech because you can see how he really felt he was going to die.
Please take a few moments and review the video on Dr. King entitled, "The Drum Major Instinct". It's 4 minutes and 36 seconds of heart-wrenching truths. Between you and me, we can realize what Dr. King saw in the "promised land". May God bless you and carry you in your struggle for peace and prosperity.
I know that he never preached racial prejudice, so it's to see so many African Americans today that are prejudice towards other races, particulary white people.
If it isn't white it's not right huh? Let me school your dumb ass on racism and savage racist white people. 30 million Africans killed coming to America threw the Atlantic never made it to the shores of this country dr. king prime example peaceful man killed by whitey for what! You ask why we are racist. A mind is a terrible thing to waste puppet.
Where the hell did you get from what I posted. I'm aware of plenty of atrocities that have accured throughout history based on race so you have nothing to edjucate me on. A mind is terrible to thing to narrow like you do with yours with constantly looking at the world just through one perspective. Careful now, your predjudice is showing...
now compare the young african americans of today (some not all) to him and his followers. Stop listening to trash like chingy, kanye, elephant man, bird man, young buck, lil john, 50 cent, etc etc etc Throw away you're bling and stop making you're brains to mush.
agree. i agree. there is nothing positive to get out of the nonsense that they sing and produce.. maybe one good thing out of millions of lines of bull.
Civil "rights" are not the same thing as inalienable rights. Civil "rights" are contractual privileges you receive when you surrender your sovereignty to become a United States "citizen" (14th amendment corporate franchisee).
if u knew history you wouldnt say that. U are ignorant and should go study egyptian history and western african history and see the major advances that took place in africa before anywhere else up until the time of slavery which wrecked teh whole continent for more years than they have been freed now. lol. Go educate urself b4 u comment....
i agree with you uturn2lose,we have an ignorant morone by the name of corey7029,he is probably just not well informed or a dumb bastard, which ever the case, he needs serious help.
Is it arrogance to consider myself to be "laying down facts" when that's exactly what I'm doing? Do, it's just another truth you fail to see. I'll say it again, "You can't judge a book by it's cover." That's a fact, stop ignoring it.
The very idea that you equate a necktie with a con-man proves my point. One is a person who actually takes part in dishonest acts, the other is an article of clothing. You can say it's self-evident a million times, you're still wrong. Wearing a suit or tie is a superficial, meaningless critera, and it's utter foolishmess to try and by make any type of appraisal of a man's character based on cosmetics.
Let me ask you this, what if someone came in here trying to make the point that Dr.King was dishonest because of the color of his skin? Could that person not point to years of superficial, prejudice in support of that point? Could he not then say "All blacks are dishonest, the same way all con men are dishonest, it is self-evidently true". Would that man be correct in that assumption? Or would he be a fool?
I'm contesting your version of the 'truth', which you dogmatically insist is a 'fact' that trumps my mere 'opinion'. That's unquestionably 'arrogance'.
I too will have to say it again: Books wouldn't bother having covers if people weren't expected to judge by them.
A swastika armband is also just an article of clothing but it signifies much...
...I can't be shamed by racist analogies as one's ethnicity isn't a *choice*. But if it were, and a black man chose to be white; many would (perhaps rightly) call him "a sell out".
PS I must confess, it wasn't fair of me to say: 'You believe the majority is *always* right' - this was a challenging caricature. Or: 'I've thoughtfully and honestly countered every single argument against my position' which should have included: (?) after 'single' as I wasn't *completely* sure.
Would it be arrogance to tell you the sky is blue as well? One might indeed judge a book by the cover, but upon reading it they might find that their initial judgement was incorrect. Thus the saying, which is indeed factual. True a book's publisher might dress it in a fancy cover in hope that a reader will be more likely to pick it up, that doesn't mean the inside of the book is any better or worse then one with a more plain cover.
A swastika armband is a better example then anything you've givin so far, but still not indicative of every man who has ever worn one. You simply canno't discern a man's motives without knowing his heart, and looking at his actions.
As I've said, wearing what Dr.King is wearing actually serves a very positive purpose. Is that his true motive? I can't say for sure, as I'm not Dr.King, but neither are you. All I'm saying is that there can be good, bad or innocent reasons for wearing any given article of clothing.
I'm not trying to shame you with racist analogies. I'm simply pointing out that just repeating that your point is self-evident, or inherently true, does not make what you're saying valid. There is no way to prove, or even support what you're saying here. There is no way to look into the heart of every man and know which ones are honest and which are dishonest.
You used "salesmen, lawyers and politicians" as examples, yet even trying to prove that all the men who've held those occupations are dishonest is completely beyond anyone's capabilities. If you can't prove that all lawyers are dishonest, how do expect to prove it of a man like Dr.King, who's very works and words contradict everything you've said?
If I suggested the sky features a range of colours but someone contradicted me insisting it was factually "blue!" -- Yes, that would be arrogant.
In this instance, the book's publisher is also the author, so the cover choice (and content) lies solely with him.
As Socrates said, 'No one does wrong willingly' In King's eyes, he probably thought it right. In addition to dishonesty, I accept necktie conformity can be purely a combination of peer pressure and character weakness...
No obviously, we are not getting anywhere. Your obstinate way of avoiding the true issues here in favor of semantics shows me that. You simply can't see the forrest through the trees. Sad really.
No, your undoing was not making any effort to see how a given argument relates to a topic without having it explained throughly word for word, and disecting information to the point that you can no longer see the truth when it's staring you in the face.
...I've said 'No honest man wears a necktie' as they're 'inherently dishonest' - as one might say "all con men are liars" which is not a despicable "generalisation", but self-evidently true.
Judging by your behaviour, the only great cause the good doctor promoted was his reputation.
You can't just keep saying the same things over and over again and call it "qualifying". It's fine to share your thoughts, but that doesn't automatically make them valid. This isn't a matter of opinion. It's just a fact that you can't judge everyone based on the superficial criteria that might apply to someone else. That's a point you've ignored time and again, but I'm going to keep hammering home because it's the key issue here. It's what makes your entire point incorrect in the first place.
I don't care if being rude or picking fights was your agenda. You still did it. Being deisrespectful to you wasn't my agenda either, like I said I'm just here to lay down the facts. The difference is, I'm willing to accept that I may step on some toes along the way, and I'm fine with that. You can't point to me and say "Well, you were rude to me" because I'm not the one harping about it. You're the hypocrite who attackes others and then crys when someones does the same thing to back. Grow up.
Oh, and if you're supposed to be making an effort to bring peace and equality to the world, you might want to start with doing something a bit more productive then bashing Martin Luther King jr. A man who did more to promote those causes then you most likely ever will.
If anyone needs to be honest here, it's you. For example, if you seriously believe that you've "countered every single argument" I've made, you're fooling yourself. I'm not here for a "slanging match" either. I'm here to inject truth and logic into this topic. Sometimes that comes accross as insulting, for which I make no apologies. Frankly, if the shoe fits.
Well, 'what goes around comes around' as they say.
If you think it effective to call people with whom you disagree, 'dime a dozen trolls' and 'jackasses' someday, someone will call you and your loved ones the same.
The point being, I really don't care. Is your ego really that large? Are you really so hurt by my words? It's funny how you've stopped debating the actual topic in favor of turning this into a criticism of my personal posting style, which is a total waste of time.
This isn't about 'posting style' but civility. I'm not here to serve as a punching bag.
Seemingly out of desperation, mid-'debate' you deviated into attacking my much earlier comment to another youtuber, before personally insulting me and in so doing terminating the possibility of resuming our original (relatively civil) argument.
It's disappointing that a non-violent peacemaker's disciple behaves in such a manner.
No, you're not here to serve as a punching bag. You're here to do all the punching, and then whine about it when someone fights back. I didn't switch the conversation at all, especially not out of "desperation". (You're projecting again). I added to the conversation when I noticed yet another silly comment you had made. I can carry on two conversation at once ya know. Do you honestly think you were winning that suit and tie arguement?
I called nobody names, graciously tolerated much of you earlier rudeness and disparagement, and can account for my every typed word (my case remains unflawed; I had no cause for desperation).
It'd be farcical and time consuming to simultaneously hold both an altercation and a diplomatic dispute with the same opponent...
No, actually that's not the crux at all. You see I'm not in disagreement with your beliefs, and in no way do I believe that the majority is always right. The true crux of the argument is this one simple truth, you can't judge a book by it's cover. This has nothing to do really with praising an idol. It has to do with you making generalizations and assumptions based on superficial criteria. That's really ALL it's ever been about.
And no, you didn't call anyone names, but that's completely beside the point. You marched onto this video and began making rude comments right and left in an obvious effort to pick a fight with someone. You've been disrespectful to a man wo lived and died in an effort to bring peace and equality to the world. No I don't think we should worship Dr.King as an Idol, but I do think we own him respect, which you have shown very little of.
Not calling names is a mask you wear to cover your arrogant and impertinent behavior. You can't complain to me about being insulting, when your very premise has been offensive and insulting from the start.
LoL, perhaps you should read your little comment up there once more and then realize that you started this small part of the discussion with a specious little attack of your own. So yes, the irony here is that you are doing exactly what you spoke against doing. If my brutal honesty diminished my "bigger man" status in your eyes, so be it.
Believe me though when I tell you I havn't lost an iota of self-respect in this little chat with you. Instead of trying to turn this all around on me, why don't you instead attempt to see the truth of the matter. Your own "platitudes and denial" so to speak.
To All the Tools: I will not blindly follow your beliefs in this government. I sincerely hope you all research impartially the facts and don't die a "Useful Idiot"
It is amazing how passionate he was about the unity of all man kind. I truly believe that if we all stand together no matter how, when, or where we shall all see that "PROMISE LAND". My name is Rafael I'm Black/Native American and I'm still fighting for freedom...
He was murdered for the same reason as John Lennon, Ghandi and Jesus - Mankind's abhorance for idolatry (of which there's plenty in this very section).
The signs are clear. Our boys are at risk. Boys are four times more likely to committ suicide, two times more likely to be diagnosed with learning disabilities, and five times more likely to be murder victims. More than half of African American boys who start High School don't graduate, 40% of the boys in the U.S. are living in homes without their biological fathers, and boys attendance at colleges is steadily decreasing. END MISANDRY NOW!!! TrueEquality dot Com

Well its obvious he was no perfect man.
There is no good man, no not even one. Yet I know of only a few men ever in history and none after this man that has ever stood up for the poor and was man enough to continue like a Spartan even in the face of being hated by many in the greatest nation on Earth.
Most would tuck their tails and hide with an untold amount of people wishing death upon you everyday.

it's true that dr. king plagiarized and cheated on his wife. i think he would be the first to own up to his sins and admit that he was not the perfect human being some have made him out to be. but to say that those transgressions diminish his legacy or historical standing reflects an astounding pettiness and small-mindedness on your part, kate. was dr. king any less a leader or inspirational figure because of the things you mention? the answer, of course, is no.

Is it arrogance to consider myself to be "laying down facts" when that's exactly what I'm doing? Do, it's just another truth you fail to see. I'll say it again, "You can't judge a book by it's cover." That's a fact, stop ignoring it.
spymaster2 4 years ago
The very idea that you equate a necktie with a con-man proves my point. One is a person who actually takes part in dishonest acts, the other is an article of clothing. You can say it's self-evident a million times, you're still wrong. Wearing a suit or tie is a superficial, meaningless critera, and it's utter foolishmess to try and by make any type of appraisal of a man's character based on cosmetics.
spymaster2 4 years ago
Let me ask you this, what if someone came in here trying to make the point that Dr.King was dishonest because of the color of his skin? Could that person not point to years of superficial, prejudice in support of that point? Could he not then say "All blacks are dishonest, the same way all con men are dishonest, it is self-evidently true". Would that man be correct in that assumption? Or would he be a fool?
spymaster2 4 years ago
I'm contesting your version of the 'truth', which you dogmatically insist is a 'fact' that trumps my mere 'opinion'. That's unquestionably 'arrogance'.
I too will have to say it again: Books wouldn't bother having covers if people weren't expected to judge by them.
A swastika armband is also just an article of clothing but it signifies much...
quangojones 4 years ago
...I can't be shamed by racist analogies as one's ethnicity isn't a *choice*. But if it were, and a black man chose to be white; many would (perhaps rightly) call him "a sell out".
PS I must confess, it wasn't fair of me to say: 'You believe the majority is *always* right' - this was a challenging caricature. Or: 'I've thoughtfully and honestly countered every single argument against my position' which should have included: (?) after 'single' as I wasn't *completely* sure.
quangojones 4 years ago
Would it be arrogance to tell you the sky is blue as well? One might indeed judge a book by the cover, but upon reading it they might find that their initial judgement was incorrect. Thus the saying, which is indeed factual. True a book's publisher might dress it in a fancy cover in hope that a reader will be more likely to pick it up, that doesn't mean the inside of the book is any better or worse then one with a more plain cover.
spymaster2 4 years ago
A swastika armband is a better example then anything you've givin so far, but still not indicative of every man who has ever worn one. You simply canno't discern a man's motives without knowing his heart, and looking at his actions.
spymaster2 4 years ago
As I've said, wearing what Dr.King is wearing actually serves a very positive purpose. Is that his true motive? I can't say for sure, as I'm not Dr.King, but neither are you. All I'm saying is that there can be good, bad or innocent reasons for wearing any given article of clothing.
spymaster2 4 years ago
I'm not trying to shame you with racist analogies. I'm simply pointing out that just repeating that your point is self-evident, or inherently true, does not make what you're saying valid. There is no way to prove, or even support what you're saying here. There is no way to look into the heart of every man and know which ones are honest and which are dishonest.
spymaster2 4 years ago
You used "salesmen, lawyers and politicians" as examples, yet even trying to prove that all the men who've held those occupations are dishonest is completely beyond anyone's capabilities. If you can't prove that all lawyers are dishonest, how do expect to prove it of a man like Dr.King, who's very works and words contradict everything you've said?
spymaster2 4 years ago
PS Thank you for the honest confessions. Are we actually getting anywhere at all here?
spymaster2 4 years ago
If I suggested the sky features a range of colours but someone contradicted me insisting it was factually "blue!" -- Yes, that would be arrogant.
In this instance, the book's publisher is also the author, so the cover choice (and content) lies solely with him.
As Socrates said, 'No one does wrong willingly' In King's eyes, he probably thought it right. In addition to dishonesty, I accept necktie conformity can be purely a combination of peer pressure and character weakness...
quangojones 4 years ago
...I cited necktie expedience being commonly employed by persuasive professionals such as lawyers -- not that all lawyers wear them/are dishonest.
(I don't see in any way that King's works or words have contradicted anything I've said.)
In a nutshell? :
'I don't think it tactful or wise amid unanimous plaudits to air so controversial (and frankly left-field) a criticism.
It's highly likely to in incite an interminable flame war, placing you in an invidious position.'
quangojones 4 years ago
No obviously, we are not getting anywhere. Your obstinate way of avoiding the true issues here in favor of semantics shows me that. You simply can't see the forrest through the trees. Sad really.
spymaster2 4 years ago
Off-target arguments and misnomers are your own undoing. Not cutting to the chase was mine.
quangojones 4 years ago
No, your undoing was not making any effort to see how a given argument relates to a topic without having it explained throughly word for word, and disecting information to the point that you can no longer see the truth when it's staring you in the face.
spymaster2 4 years ago
...I've said 'No honest man wears a necktie' as they're 'inherently dishonest' - as one might say "all con men are liars" which is not a despicable "generalisation", but self-evidently true.
Judging by your behaviour, the only great cause the good doctor promoted was his reputation.
If you want people to 'grow up' teach by example.
quangojones 4 years ago
You can't just keep saying the same things over and over again and call it "qualifying". It's fine to share your thoughts, but that doesn't automatically make them valid. This isn't a matter of opinion. It's just a fact that you can't judge everyone based on the superficial criteria that might apply to someone else. That's a point you've ignored time and again, but I'm going to keep hammering home because it's the key issue here. It's what makes your entire point incorrect in the first place.
spymaster2 4 years ago
I don't care if being rude or picking fights was your agenda. You still did it. Being deisrespectful to you wasn't my agenda either, like I said I'm just here to lay down the facts. The difference is, I'm willing to accept that I may step on some toes along the way, and I'm fine with that. You can't point to me and say "Well, you were rude to me" because I'm not the one harping about it. You're the hypocrite who attackes others and then crys when someones does the same thing to back. Grow up.
spymaster2 4 years ago
Oh, and if you're supposed to be making an effort to bring peace and equality to the world, you might want to start with doing something a bit more productive then bashing Martin Luther King jr. A man who did more to promote those causes then you most likely ever will.
spymaster2 4 years ago
just like he knew he's going to die strange
kingsword15 4 years ago
If anyone needs to be honest here, it's you. For example, if you seriously believe that you've "countered every single argument" I've made, you're fooling yourself. I'm not here for a "slanging match" either. I'm here to inject truth and logic into this topic. Sometimes that comes accross as insulting, for which I make no apologies. Frankly, if the shoe fits.
spymaster2 4 years ago
Well, 'what goes around comes around' as they say.
If you think it effective to call people with whom you disagree, 'dime a dozen trolls' and 'jackasses' someday, someone will call you and your loved ones the same.
quangojones 4 years ago

spymaster2 4 years ago

quangojones 4 years ago
The point being, I really don't care. Is your ego really that large? Are you really so hurt by my words? It's funny how you've stopped debating the actual topic in favor of turning this into a criticism of my personal posting style, which is a total waste of time.
spymaster2 4 years ago
This isn't about 'posting style' but civility. I'm not here to serve as a punching bag.
Seemingly out of desperation, mid-'debate' you deviated into attacking my much earlier comment to another youtuber, before personally insulting me and in so doing terminating the possibility of resuming our original (relatively civil) argument.
It's disappointing that a non-violent peacemaker's disciple behaves in such a manner.
quangojones 4 years ago
No, you're not here to serve as a punching bag. You're here to do all the punching, and then whine about it when someone fights back. I didn't switch the conversation at all, especially not out of "desperation". (You're projecting again). I added to the conversation when I noticed yet another silly comment you had made. I can carry on two conversation at once ya know. Do you honestly think you were winning that suit and tie arguement?
spymaster2 4 years ago
I called nobody names, graciously tolerated much of you earlier rudeness and disparagement, and can account for my every typed word (my case remains unflawed; I had no cause for desperation).
It'd be farcical and time consuming to simultaneously hold both an altercation and a diplomatic dispute with the same opponent...
quangojones 4 years ago
...The crux of the argument is:
Like Aristotle, I believe 'All persons ought to endeavour to follow what is right and not what is established.' e.g. Veganism & Teetotalism.
You believe the majority is always right; everyone should follow the warm, fuzzy, popular consensus, be it praising idols or wearing neckties.
I remain completely unconvinced of the latter.
quangojones 4 years ago
No, actually that's not the crux at all. You see I'm not in disagreement with your beliefs, and in no way do I believe that the majority is always right. The true crux of the argument is this one simple truth, you can't judge a book by it's cover. This has nothing to do really with praising an idol. It has to do with you making generalizations and assumptions based on superficial criteria. That's really ALL it's ever been about.
spymaster2 4 years ago
And no, you didn't call anyone names, but that's completely beside the point. You marched onto this video and began making rude comments right and left in an obvious effort to pick a fight with someone. You've been disrespectful to a man wo lived and died in an effort to bring peace and equality to the world. No I don't think we should worship Dr.King as an Idol, but I do think we own him respect, which you have shown very little of.
spymaster2 4 years ago
Not calling names is a mask you wear to cover your arrogant and impertinent behavior. You can't complain to me about being insulting, when your very premise has been offensive and insulting from the start.
spymaster2 4 years ago
LoL, perhaps you should read your little comment up there once more and then realize that you started this small part of the discussion with a specious little attack of your own. So yes, the irony here is that you are doing exactly what you spoke against doing. If my brutal honesty diminished my "bigger man" status in your eyes, so be it.
spymaster2 4 years ago
Believe me though when I tell you I havn't lost an iota of self-respect in this little chat with you. Instead of trying to turn this all around on me, why don't you instead attempt to see the truth of the matter. Your own "platitudes and denial" so to speak.
