Not knocking him as a player, just his leads are very familar/similar sounding and techniq

To be honest, if you can do 2 notes per string licks fast, you got Zakk down. He doesn't have much variety in his leads.  Listen to any of his solo's and all the fast parts are 2notes a string licks. However his pinch harmonics and vibrato is second to none!!

The amp Zakk Wylde is using is the....

Marshall Valvestate 2000 AVT 20

20W, 1x10" speaker....hybrid amp (it contains 1 ECC83/12AX7 in the preamp), meaning that it uses tube(s) and solid state technology to work.

I've been looking for a Marshall equivalent of the Fender Champ XD...I think this may be it...any suggestions?

By the way they discontinued this amp, infact the entire Marshall Valvestate 2000 line is now the Marshall AVT Tribute series, they still use 1 12AX7 in the preamp...I've heard mixed reviews on this series of amps

@PIlotrcm: I'll tell you what man...although they did discontinue them...you can find them on ebay used in the $200-250 range...depending on the condition. This is probably the best sounding amp I've ever owned...and I'm not blowing smoke out of my ass. I had a AVT 100 which did sound like major shit...and it might have been because of all the built in effects in it like flanger, delay, etc. This avt is very basic with reverb being the only actual effect...but the sound is so much better

@PIlotrcm: So my review is stay away from the AVT 50, 100, 150, and 275 and just get the 20. There's a reason Zakk uses this amp. The only downside to the amp I can think of is no footswitch...and there is a volume jump between the clean and overdrive channel...but fuck it. The sound well worth makes up for it.

haters are everywhere. Most of them just don't like blues, rock, metal mixed in. Most of the haters also play guitar, and feel they need to judge someone when they don't use the 7 note recipes out there know has the Minor or Phrygian scale. Zakk is pretty awesome and he's like around the world. Some of these wanna be TECHNICAL guitarists are jealous because their robot playing and sweeping (which by the way they think is FASTEST way to play), has gotten them no where.

Damn. This is Zakk totally at his core. This is the good stuff. There are so many great guitarists, i'm glad Zakk has cornered this style and beat it into submission. New album kicks ass.I like Gus g, but ive always been a fan of the straight muscle style. the picking technique requires a lot of maintenance though. Other wise you just always sound tired.
