You must remember that Windows ME was out at the time, which was a disaster. Turns out it worked in Y2K but at the time I didn't trust it either.
As far as the whole global meltdown thing, yes it was a big problem and we fixed it. We had to, otherwise it would have been a disaster. I don't know that it would have been a global meltdown, that's a bit far.. But I certainly (and wisely) made sure all my account balances were documented on official original paper.
This was very cleverly thought out. Not only was it a reminder about how the computer would function fine after the 'millennium bug', but it also took a subtle stab at Windows, with their sub-par (which is an understatement), Windows Millennium Edition.
its not them forcing the people to start this culture, its the people who like the product so much that they want share....using a mac for a year now, its just great and stressless...dont you think that too - Dave
thats funny :D
but could anyone explain that Y2K thing. I mean, i see no rational explanation for computer malfunctioning with the beggining of new millenium

@andrejthegreat look up "Year 2000 problem" in Wikipedia. That gives a pretty good explanation :)

I hate it when commercialism ruins good things. Perhaps especially movie characters when they are as intriguing as HAL.
