He successful refuted the wrong five points of Calvinism. I encourage anyone interested to go and listen to any well known reformed pastor explain the real five points of Calvinism. Also see the two books out "For Calvinism" by Horton and "Against Calvinism" by Olson. They even come in a package deal together at some book stores. Learn for yourself.
When Jesus said "You didn't choose me, I chose you...to bear fruit" he was talking to the 11 (Judas had left to betray Jesus) He did say I chose 12 of you and one of you is a devil. Jesus had not chosen Judas for salvation, he had chosen him in the same way he chose pharoah (Romans 9:17). It sais in Acts 4:27-28 that God had predestined the Jews and Gentiles (which included Judas) to betray Jesus.
The phrase irresistable grace is misleading. you can resist gods grace in general, but not his electing grace: John 6:37 "All that the Father gives me will come to me" the elect WILL come to Jesus sooner or later.
It is true that there is some sense in which christ died for "all" men. But Christ's mission and intention was to save the elect. His atonement was sufficient and is offered to all, but it was intended for the elect. "I am praying for them. I am not praying for the world but for those whom you have given me, for they are yours." (Those whom you have given me are the elect: John 6:36-38)
It does say if (you believe), then you will be saved. but it never sais if you believe, then god chooses you. It is if god chooses you, then you believe.
Romans 12:3 doesn't say he has given every man a measure of faith. it says "I say to everyone among you...each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned."
That verse is talking just about Christians. The bible does say that you "will not come to me" but the bible also says the natural (sinful) mind "can not know the things of god" (1 Corinthians 2:14) It sais no one can come to the son unless the father has enabled him John 6:65
If you really care to understand the doctrines of grace pertaining to reformed theology, view RC Sproul's series "What is Reformed Theology". After holding tightly to classical Arminianism for over 24 years, I've come to understand that the differences in the theological positions is the contrast between God's Holiness and man's true state as a fallen sinner. Pray that God would grant to you the understanding of His word.
The truth is men like this Pastor don't believe that they are totally depraved, unrighteous (Rom 3:10), and do not and cannot seek God (Rom 3:11). You can't give birth to your own self. It is by the will of the Father. (John 1:13). This is the Sovereignty of God. Define the words in the Bible.
John Calvin was a murderer, who had Michael Servetus burned at the stake for not agreeing with his doctrines (infant baptism, and predestination); Servetus totally was more of a theologian than Calvin. He new 5 languages, including Hebrew, which Calvin didn't know, and wrote better theolgy than him. Calvin hated Servetus and had him killed. The Bible says no murderer has eternal life in him.
This man just turned repentance and faith into a work. Repentance and faith are gifts given by God to man, so that we may believe on Him. For an action to be a work, man must produce it himself and finish it himself. Where in scripture does it teach that repentance and faith begins and ends in man?
No one can be saved under this teaching. If our works are like filthy rags according to Isaiah 64, then that includes repentance and faith under this teaching. Thus, we've got justified men in Hell.
@tgillspy1 1 John: Total Depravity: 1:6 1:8-10 2:4 2:9-11 2:15-17 3:8a-10 Limited Atonement: 2:1-2 4:10 John wrote that Christ's death was an actual satisfaction of God's wrath towards sinners. If it satisfied the wrath for every man Christ failed because all will not be saved. Thus "whole world" is the elect who will actually be saved. Irresistible Grace: 2:29 3:9-10 4:7-8 5:1 5:4-5 5:18 Can we make ourselves "born of God?" Perserverance: 5:11, 13, 20b 5:18
@tgillspy1 Read Romans and tell me that it doesn't paint a very clear picture of the doctrines of grace (Especially Romans 3 and 9). 1 John doesn't do anything to disprove Calvinism. Romans makes Calvinism very clear...
@tgillspy1 How so? It illiterates God as He is in scripture. The All-powerful Sovereign Lord of the Universe who actually saves His people from their sins. As apposed to the Arminian God who is begging and hoping some one will believe in his Son and finish what He started.
If Christ is "the savior of all" how miserably He has failed... Jesus died on the cross for the elect and took upon Himself their punishment. Jesus provided atonement so that we are saved from Hell that we may glorify God forever. If Christ took on the punishment for non-believers than he failed on the cross. God would be punishing Christ for the non-believers AND punishing them when He sends them to hell. Christ is not a failure and that's why He didn't die for the lost.
I get that this man is a pastor but why is he spending this time telling us what he personally believes rather than what the Bible says we should believe? I guess his whole congregation is the choir.
Really-is not a measure of faith like would be saved, right? Of course when in Romans 3:11 we see the fact concluded by Paul and David: There is none that seeketh after God.
If there is none that seek after God, then I dare ask how exactly do we have a measure of faith that will cause 8s to follow Christ-sounds like alvinism to me! Paul quotes from the Psalms-Psalms 14 and 53. It begins with the proclamation the foolsays in his heart there is no God. Read those Psalms
@Gideom007 this guy is preaching his opinion.he does not define any words.he is so stupid he uses the word ordained and that is predestination.he takes all the glory away from god. god says he does not share his glory with another.if he does not repent of his sin he will die in them.
@christianmike Why? Because he's not a celebrity like Piper or Carson? Just because they're famous, doesn't mean they can't be refuted by any Christian who reads the entirety of Scripture - and is filled with the Holy Ghost. Just an F.Y.I, none of Jesus' disciples received Doctorates of Divinity from the University of Jerusalem. They were filled with revelation knowledge by the power of the Spirit of God.
@jadkins00 No, that was the point-how do you say this-it would be like watching a person who do not know how to read having a debate with a teacher over how a word is spelled. At least this is my perception. On your statement about PHD's-so they had this knowledge and it had nothing to do with the short three years they spent with Christ? I follow this ideal: Spurgeon never had a degree and when you read the 10,000 books he read-I think we would be getting somewhere.
If you look at the tags in this video he listed Paul Washer and John MacArthur. I guess he's trying to prove that those Reformed guys are wrong. MacArthur alone has more Biblical knowledge than 99% of the people on this earth, especially this guy. Paul Washer is one of the most passionate preachers of Biblical truth I've ever heard. Both of them preach the Bible for what it is and I have much respect for both of them.
P (perseverance of the saints [or, eternal security])--Jn. 10:28: "And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand." Heb. 13:5: "I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." I Pet. 1:5: "Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time." II Pet. 1:9: "But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins."
I (irresistible [or, efficacious] grace)--Eze. 36:26-27: "A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them." Acts 16:14: "Lydia,...which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul."
L (limited [or, definite] atonement)--Jn. 10:11, 15: "The good shepherd giveth his life for the SHEEP.....I lay down my life for the SHEEP." Rom. 8:32-33: "He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for US ALL, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? Who shall lay any thing to the charge of GOD'S ELECT? It is God that justifieth." Eph. 5:25: "Husbands, love your wives, EVEN AS Christ also loved the CHURCH, and gave himself for IT."
U (unconditional election)--Acts 13:48: "And as many as were ordained to eternal life believed." Rom. 9:16-18: "So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy. For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth. Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth."
T (total depravity)--Isa. 1:5-6: "The whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint. From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; but wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment." Jer. 17:9: "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?"
God's word states very clearly "There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one." Romans 3 10-12 This sounds pretty TOTALLY DEPRAVED to me!
To use the words of a good Calvinist hymn "Tis not that I did choose thee, For Lord that could not be; This heart would still refuse thee, Hadst thou not chosen me
having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.
For the Scripture says to the Pharaoh, "For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I may show My power in you, and that My name may be declared in all the earth." Therefore He has mercy on whom He wills, and whom He wills He hardens.
You will say to me then, "Why does He still find fault? For who has resisted His will?"
Great video. Nobody needs the false religion of Calvinism to go to Heaven. The apostles were not Calvinists. John Calvin has led many people into Hell.
False Pastor: (0:31) "the Bible says that God has given to every man the measure of faith." (*Notice he doesn't give the Scripture verse).
Rom.12:3-- "For I say, through the grace given to me, to every man that IS AMONG YOU, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith." Who is Paul speaking to? Believers. Now read v.4-21. The key word is "context".
He had TULIP right bilit defined each part wrong. Pastor should be careful not to confuse their listeners, God takes that pretty seriously.
