  • You can beat the whole game on hardest by timing your sweeps with round house. with everyone.

  • That's a pretty cool vid.

  • guy must have been psychic

i play sf4 on the reg, and i mean not 100% acc, but very good based on that single vid that was released

  • In retrospect, it turns out that this was a great analysis based on such early footage. The game plays 100% like a 2D fighter. I play Street Fighter 4 regularly at Chinatown Fair arcade in NY and the game is great.

  • Bah... I loved 3rd strikes line up. SF2 was only a "serious" commercial success because by the time SF3 was out it had too many competitors to be ground breaking.

  • sf2 opened the genre...

  • thnx for the Vid, great points...

  • You fail.

  • where on earth do you get those stats from? lol!

  • It's closed minded to not accept a game simple because of a change in art style that does not directly effect gameplay, gtfo.

  • Hes right the game will be trash

  • cool video. I liked it!

  • Street Fighter 4 will be the best street fighter ever! reasons: 1)2D fighting with 3D. 2)all classic characters will return. 3)All powers return: Supers, Ex specials, Throws, Quick Get-Up, Taunts and new Ultras. 4) Revenge and Saving gauge are introduce. 5)Online modes. 6) Gouken (Ryu and Kens sensei) for the 1st time will be playable! for me this game is a dream coming true

  • what about the music

  • The only way I'll buy SF4 is if they have Urien in there, and I seriously doubt that's gonna happen.

  • Looks awesome to say the least! Can't wait for this game.

  • good job

  • great job.

  • Very interesting video, thanks for posting it.

  • 2d was much betta

    Ryu owns

  • It still plays in 2D even if the graphics are CG and not celanimated. :D But to me, it looks like the new system will play fantastically just rom this video!

    Bryon

  • I still don't understand, will they be adding many, many more moves. I think the only limitation to all of SF series is that the cancels were too easy and the combos and moves stopped abruptly instead of the player paying for a mishap.

  • i havent seen a single parry in it. Are they taking out the parry system?

  • Hahaha. Where's my slowpoke gif when I need it?

Yes, for those of you late to class, SF3 never happened.

  • if it didn't happen then y do i have anniversary wit 3rd Strike on it r-tard?

  • Wow. Somebody didn't get it.

What I meant by 'SF3 never happened' is that Capcom is trying to downplay SF3 in favor of SF2 flavor, due to the commercial success of SF2 and relative failure of SF3. I love SF3, it's a great game. But from a business standpoint, it was very disappointing.

  • Supposedly, SF4 is an interquel, so it takes place in between sf2 and sf3. Hopefully, they'll blend some of the SF3 characters and storyline into it later on, i dont think it's a complete product yet.

  • wait, so we get to do normal canceling still!? ok thank god if so, I was thinking we would have to do some saving system bullshit, I guess thats for other things.

  • I think a lot of people have been confused by Ono-san's statement that were would be no "Custom Combos", and thought that meant they were altering the fundamental cancel system. "Custom Combo" is just the official term for v-ism style super arts (or A-groove in CvS2).

  • I watched an SF4 Interview video and pretty much they linked that new super Ken has with the Shinryuken part, meaning they played one after the other. I was thinking, could that be his new Shinryuken super? start of with a left hand Shoryuken, axe kick, triple kick, right hand single hitting Shinryuken?

  • It's possible, but I don't think it's terribly likely. It starts with a traditional super freeze, and Ryu's ultimate clip does not. I find it more likely that it's a "close" version of Shoryu Reppa, in much the same way as Shin Shoryuken works in SF3.

  • That's true isn't it? There isn't a freeze on the ultimate, but it may be different for each character's ultimate (like different times or such). For instance, Ryu's ultimate fireball does a close up camera view on Ryu BEFORE he fires it off. However, Ken's Shinryuken does a camera view DURING the hit of Shinryuken. Plus, if you look at Ryu before Shinryuken hits, he was already hit with something, which is where I drew my conclusion of the "new" Shinryuken.

    More next

  • Besides, I think that Ken having a new "close" super is not really a good idea. Ken is already a close combat character, which is why he never had a super fireball (except XvSF and MvSF, double super only with Ryu) and his fireballs in MvSF and on goes half way through the screen. Ken is already a close up battler, giving him a third (Shinryuken and Shippu Jinrai Kyaku being two) super.

  • Veeery interesting, thanx !!

  • nice analysis

  • Awesome work!

  • Good work!

  • Yeah, is it just me or is that dash-cancelled dp not ex? Looks like the flash is from the cancel?

  • It's certainly possible, but it's hard to draw any firm conclusions. All we know from other sources is that "EX moves can be canceled by a dash"...but maybe that's a mis-translation of "EX meter can be spent to cancel a move into a dash." There is a bit of a language barrier between Ono and us.

  • Very sweet. And nice analysis. Do you do college papers? ;)

  • Sick man. Nice video

  • good shit man

in case you wanted to know, i read the thread from SRK

  • Excellent, thx

  • Good analysis. 5 Stars.

  • fuckin dope

  • Great Analysis. Hopefully this will quell some of the incessant whining plaguing the forums

  • I really appreciate this video. This is a very good and intricate analysis of the SF4 footage.

  • excellent work in how you've broken it down. nicely done :)

  • Thanks for posting this. Some of the things like the shoryuken cancels and tick throws aren't obvious at maximum speed, and this really shows them off.

  • Well done, sir.

  • Very nice analysis.

  • Excellent video.

After watching this, I think the game plays a little TOO fast, with it's cancel game.

  • The EGM article said that Ono has the game's speed at maximum for these videos, and will tweak the speed down until they get it exactly right.

  • Yes, I remember reading that, but from what I feel, the GAME speed/fighting speed plays at a relatively good pace, but when you put in cancels like that, it would be too quick.

I feel that, if the gameplay speed was slowed down (the regular fight, not the cancels) then the actual fight would be too slow, but the cancels would be at a correct, reasonable speed.

  • Excellent job. Completely missed the EX Tatsu every time I've watched the footage.

  • You know I never would've noticed that without the side by side comparisons. Also the clips from the original video popped in and out so fast, I never noticed the EX moves when they happened.

  • Love it. It's an nice analysis and actually INSIGHTFUL unlike the 1up crap review. Thanks.

  • Great video and analysis! Keep it up!
