Is the worst place for radon the basement?? That what I have heard

Radon-222, the most stable has a half-life of 3.8 days; decays by alpha. It depends on the isotopes. Radon comes from areas of Uranium & Thorium bearing minerals and ores underground. Uranium (U) decays to Thorium (Th), Thorium decays to Radium (Ra), and Radium decays to Radon (Rn), by alpha & beta decay, I.E:

He-4 = Alpha particle

e- = Beta minus (electron)

U-238 -> He-4 = Th-234

Th-234 -> e- = Pa-234

Pa-234 -> e- = U-234

U-234 -> He-4 = Th-230

Th-230 -> He-4 = Ra-226

Ra-226 -> He-4 = Rn-222

radon is formed from the radioactive decay of uranium that is in the earth, some areas have higher levels due to higher uranium contents.

radon is A radioactive noble gas it has A half-life of 3 days and as A gas radon will enter your lungs and decay into lead-210 which will remain radioactive in your lungs for like 50 years or something. very toxic if you have any question on radon or uranium message me.

Richard--you could not be more wrong.

It sounds like you did something against the closed home conditions, maybe opened a window or something, and you are angry because your money went to waste. That doesn't mean that every RADON measurement person is a crook. Check out the credentials of the person you hired.

Dont doubt it - look at the studies it has been proven that it causes lung cancer and IS THE SECOND LEADING CAUSE OF LUNG CANCER. LOOK AT THE EPA SITE!! LOOK AT AMERICAN LUNG CANCER SITE.. OPEN YOUR EYES.

Radon the #2 cause of lung cancer, I doubt it. Similar to the mold issue where it was reported that people were dropping dead everywhere and hospitals were full of sick people.

This inspector isn't a radon inspector, he's a top Chicago home inspector who properly notes the potential danger of radon. But you're right that radon isn't a problem everywhere. Just in some places. Ilyce Glink

These radon people need to get a job doing something other than ripping people off!

In a bad economy these companys ripp you off with false cliams of tampering.If someone knows the federal hot line to report the inspetors ripping of the people i need it.There has to be some kinda accounability for the people or these laws need to go and the industry really is a ripp off and radon is a lie to make money ripping of america!
