I'm going to live in Chicago soon... i been their all times but never heard about this tho, can't believe i never heard about this... i now live in shitty field (springfield) but when i see this man i wish they keep going workin on this project this is real bad ass!

@jesse36james4life the simply didnt get the money to take it above the ground due to the financial crisis. A big loss for Chicago but  sadly you cant change it

Work stopped in summer 2008 and never resumed. Developer has faced a litany of woes since. This was a borderline feasible project during the boom. The post-crash Chicago condo market certainly can't justify the huge construction price now. It would require buyers to pay @ 3X the going rate for similar-sized units in buildings like the nearby Trump Tower. It just can't work and, despite the money already thrown into this literal money pit, they won't throw more good money after bad.

Trump's tower may be closer to certain things, but it is just another big manufactured project, and it is not majestic like the Spire is. The spire has clean lines and rounds off very nicely. I hope the inside is as nice.

Its sad, it is now just the Chicago Hole, there is nothing past ground level that is constructed. It is sad because this is one of the new buildings that I actually like its architectural design. Its design is unique and would probably be iconic. Everyone will know about the Spire if it is completed, its condos will sell because they have beautiful views of Lake Michigan and are in a beautiful structure.

I feel sorry for the workers thats a very serious jobs that they are doing, but on other hand its really great feeling that something is gonna stand for so many years and the person who was working on that project like 10 years from now. yea i was working on that project. I did some electrical work on roosevelt collection :) been there for couple of months. walking up the decks up and down was pain in the ass lol. great video, love the music.

Iam jealous, howcome they picked Chicago instead of Houston. But its ok i went to the website and know, I know why. Yall are so lucky to have such beautiful structure I hope one day us too can have one.

Great video! Thanks man!! Hopefully the Spire will still be 2,000 feet tall as planned. We will all know on Jan 14th if there is enough people willing to buy property in the Spire to make this awesome building a reality! Fingers crossed!!
