Actually we fought a revolutionary war over big government and it wasn't big government but self government. The constitution deliniates the powers of the government not the size. It is implied that our government would be small. Our civil war was fought over many different issues from slavery to states rights to govern themselves. Some of the issues would have taken care of themselves. Slavery was a dying instituion in the south. It was bad for business and people were seeing that.
Just one problem with your argument. When was the last time you ever saw a government give up any power it had. Once you allow a government to grow big it is nearly impossible to shrink it again. As for Obama's/ your ideas on how to fix the economy, how about give the people some of thier money back and not give it to your (Obama's) friends. You don't get the point. It doesn't matter how much the total mortgage costs, only how much you're paying per month on the mortgage. And I'm telling you it's peanuts, 252 billion in fiscal year 2009 in interest payments. If anything, we're *scamming* the Chinese.
If you understand Chinese history you'll know why they'll never bail on the dollar. Peasants need work, or they topple the government. Happened in every Chinese dynasty. The flow of cheap goods must continue: high dollar low Yuan.

China buys our waste and turns it into goods selling it back to us. They keep their currency worthless to have cheap exports, the same time our $ drops they can buy our exports cheaper.

A fiat currency doesn't work even close to the way the gold standard works.
So called "Japanese" cars are made in America. American managers run many Chinese factories. The American Government's job isn't to be a penny-pinching accountant, but to raise the quality of life for all Americans as much as possible. If that means deficits and ripping off Chinese then so much the better.
Savings is *not* automatically investment. It is hoarding, anti-capitalist. Money not in motion is money wasted.

The argument you make is the reason our economy sucks, people just think they can borrow and spend. The governments even worse at it. I think you forgot that's the exact reason why we're in this mess.
No one wants to save any money, so when something does happen that's why their screwed, because you had to have a flat screen instead of insurance.

Of course you're ignoring plenty of people who work hard, save money, live within their means and still get screwed. That's where government comes in.
All the personal anecdotes in the world won't change the fact you can't run a national economy the way your run personal finances. "Living within means" for a government would mean no roads, education, hospitals, schools, or military since all of those don't generate income directly for decades.
Obama had better spend 3 or 4 trillion.

How about the states handle their business and have the power they should to run their own affairs, then a small centralized federal government that actually governs by the constitution and uses sound monetary policy.

Works well. Until you're in competition with or at war with an EU or Soviet Union or even a China or whatever other superpower comes. You need to pool resources in crisis. 50 semi-countries would never last in the era of globalisation. Government was *huge* during WWII -- the Feds had ultimate power. You forget this "small government" meme started with Reagan.

I don't really have a problem with social engineering, when it happens in families and homes. The problem is the government will ultimately use it for control. If it can engineer a society that's easier to control, why wouldn't it? It's hypocrisy, they preach to you how to live, how to be responsible, yet never practice it themselves.

Ah, so social engineering is unearned benefits? Let's talk money. The cost of an elementary, middle school and high school education is hundreds of thousands of dollars in "unfunded liabilities." On top of that scholarships are based on random criteria such as standardized testing (invented by large national authorities) or affirmative action (your children being Japanese). It certainly hasn't been earned yet. It's given to your children in the hope they'll pay it back later with productivity.

The strongest military always come from the strongest central government. It is no coincidence that our most powerful allies the UK was a monarchy, or that it took Stalin to beat Hitler. America is just lucky we have favorable terrain (two oceans). Small government would not work in Israel.

Anyway, much of what you say is true. But you libertarian (or whatever you call yourself) types offer no answers. For example my answer:
1. Gradually inflate the currency so the debt becomes smaller and smaller. Maybe in 100 years it'll be nothing. Or the same debt-to-gdp ratio.
2. Make interest payments.
Yours?
1. Pay down the debt. In other words, pay Japanese, British and Chinese.
2. If that's not possible, default. Default on obligations, default on interest payments, default on it all.

Actually we fought a revolutionary war over big government and it wasn't big government but self government. The constitution deliniates the powers of the government not the size. It is implied that our government would be small. Our civil war was fought over many different issues from slavery to states rights to govern themselves. Some of the issues would have taken care of themselves. Slavery was a dying instituion in the south. It was bad for business and people were seeing that.

Just one problem with your argument. When was the last time you ever saw a government give up any power it had. Once you allow a government to grow big it is nearly impossible to shrink it again. As for Obama's/ your ideas on how to fix the economy, how about give the people some of thier money back and not give it to your (Obama's) friends. Why exactly are groups such as Acorn getting millions of tax dollars in the first place? If we gave the people thier money the economy would right itself.

Perhaps you wouldn't be so angry if you put things into perspective. America owes China 700 billion of a 6 trillion dollar debt. Japan, a former enemy of the United States, is owed 600 billion. The United Kingdom is owed 400 billion. Anyone can key "United States Public Debt" into Google and find these numbers on their own.
I know this may be a shock to you but you can't run a national economy the same way your run personal finances. This money never has to be paid back; only puny interest.

no it's a simple consumption. the majority accepts gays but they are banning gay marriage. they don't have a problem with people being gay, same goes with a race, but when gay marriage is mentioned people are against it because it's a sacred ceremony, and I can prove that by renaming marriage into something else (ex. uniage)but it's basically the same concept of regular marriage and people will accept it.
