Titanic was sinking VERRRY SLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOWWW, but Ismay did not want to believe it and he said it would be safer to sail to the bock eventhougt it's sinking. From what I know, (Might be untrue though) this scene could be only done once as they pretty much destroyed the set with all the water they used. So it had to be perfect, good job it worked though! Defiently the most dramatic bit of the film.
1500 innocent souls unnecessarily perished when Titanic went down. Why? Greed, Arrogance,Ignorance and Over Confidence that they would be able to turn a triple propeller ship in time to avoid hitting a 'reasonably' sized ice berg. What they didn't count on was what was UNDER the water! Bergs may appear to be huge on the surface but that aint what you need to worry about! It's what's BELOW the surface that sinks ships!
@MattTheSushi If it has enought water force like the ocean it can cause a big implosian and the dome was made out of glass . Plus it was very cold and the water was freezen.
@MattTheSushi it did. they had everthing under control but yeah you can check out the making of titanic here on youtube...they show how the directors says "dome dome dome!!" and they release it, the dome actually had an opening s the water just enters and the sund of crashing was integrated later wich FX...and you can see the people and the cameras like here....reallly scary to see 90% of this or more actualli is true!
@ephimer yeah...I doubt I would be idly standing by a pillar I'd be out on the boat deck or something...but if I WAS in the grand staircase I bet the adrenaline and the sense of doom would be POUNDING
