such exceed limits of 150 is very rare, yet only R136a1 got past a solar mass of 150.
Please like if you already knew it.To say, VY Canis Majoris < R136a1

It's funny how many want to point out that others have made the mistake of thinking that mass = volume with their quantized stats from Wikipedia while forgetting two main things: 1) Matter/Energy is spatially extended as a void of networked energy resonation. Describing things such as mass and volume in absolute terms to point out the mistake of others is kind of ironic considering the way we quantize is flawed and incomplete. 2) star size/mass measurements are approximations at very best.
@FurbolgFrenzy10 The fail is YOURS buddy, for not understanding Indian decimal mark notation. Here's a quote from wikipedia on the matter to help you understand...
"In India, due to a numeral system using lakhs (lacs) (1,00,000 equal to 100 000) and crores (1,00,00,000 equal to 10 000 000), comma is used at levels of thousand, lakh and crore, for example, 10 million (1 crore) would be written as 1,00,00,000."
This Indian reporter CORRECTLY says 1,65,000 where Americans would say 165,000.
that star looks small to vy canis majoris don't care about that star because vy canis majoris will make the BIGGEAST SUPER NOVA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@blueseablueberry No. The energy released by a nova is dictated by the mass of the object. The more massive, the greater the release.
Simply put, this star will produce a nova 8 times as "big" as VY Canis Majoris, because it has 8 times as much mass.
You already understand this concept, even if you don't realize it. Everybody knows, a balloon filled with helium might be large in diameter, but a balloon the same size filled with water has MUCH more mass.
@azdgariarada thats a great way to explain it, canis is consuming its matter rather quickly releases in 6 seconds as much energy as our sun does in 1 year, wich is alot. its size is exactly due to the fact it cant hold its matter together or some say so. it wont produce as much heat as R136a1. tho it will go hypernova releasing much more energy than a supernova
i still find both canis and R136a1 extremely fascinating. starting to wonder what kind of enviroment we would have if our sun was blue
Hope this is a joke; Giant star ? it sure is not ! - most heavy star discorvered it sure is not ! - And the best thing about it the star is 1 million years old he says HAHAHAHA then it would still just be a cloud of dust, and they say the star dies in 1 million years hihi, so the star has a life spand of 2 mil years OKAY IF YOU SAY SO :)

Guys, listen, I know 90% of you think that VY Canis Majoris is the most "massive", but it isn't. Canis Majoris is the one with the most VOLUME, not MASS. If R136a1 was a RED hypergiant, it would be MUCH MORE larger than Canis Majoris.
Mass and volume are different things. Do not get them confused. here's an example:
You have 100 paper balls all on top of each other, and I have 1 ball of led the size of a soccer ball. Even though 100 paperballs seems larger, the ball of led has much more mass.
This star is just the most massive star known and most luminous one out there. Discovered 2010. Don't go thinking oh this video is wrong because at no point do they say its the largest star found. There is a difference. Comment all you want I've learnt the same way as everyone else has.....on the internet :p
@ClubPenguinMovies123 vy canis majoris is only 30times the mass of our sun, it is just at the end of its lifespan in the "red giant phase" which is why it has its gigantic diameter. In terms of mass, this star is aroudn 10 times more massive than vy canis majoris. Anyway, I think this video is really inaccurate, this star is not even in our galaxy, even if it was twice as close it's rays could not harm us
@ClubPenguinMovies123 Fail... VY CMa is 59 times bigger, don't even care to argue, I made the Wikipedia-pages that you got your intelligence from, so...
@ClubPenguinMovies123 No its not, R136a1 has a diameter of around 47,816,000 Kilometers and VY Canis Majoris diameter of around 2,921,100,000 Kilometers
so R136a1 is bigger than VY Canis Majoris, and VY Canis Majoris is the largest star known and R136a1 is the massive star known. Do not reply that I'm faking because I'm never faking R136a1 is massive than VY Canis Majoris.
@katie89065 LOL So your trying to say that R136a1 Is larger then VY Canis Majoris??? I hope your kidding... Know what you are talking about, If a commercial airlines moving at around 900kph or 560mph around the surface of VY Canis Majoris it would take 1100 years to cirlce it 1 time.... Think about that...
@SuperThe86 Yes in Mass "Weight" It is heavier but not in sheer size.... VY Canis Majoris is still the biggest star in the universe in size, Our sun in comparisson looks like a grain of sand next to a basketball....
Smaller stars burn their energy slower than bigger stars. Our sun is a medium sized star that they believe will last 10 billion years, and is already about 5 billion years old. This means it will die in roughly 5 more billion years.
@xxTigersnakexx simple: Implying that the sun is 5 billion years old is illogical. Implying that it will explode in 5 billion years also implies that logic is no longer a part of the human world.

very simple:
The BIGGEST star is VY Canis Majoris.
The star in this video, R136a1, is the MOST MASSIVE
another way to put it
VY Canis Majoris is like a big orange yoga ball. Huge but not very dense

thumbs down cause this video combined the two.
