i can't believe i stumbled upon this. I've been dyin to learn some of this shit and BOOM, i'm workin my arse off on this series tomorrow, and the next and on baby
Hey all, this is Jonathon from the video. If you like these tutorials, I'm beginning to put my new ones up on my own channel. Just click my name (groovewindow) and sub, if you're interested. Otherwise, carry on!
@Linkejimas you are an idiot or what ? some people can't hear and understand all words when americans people speaking , so that's why there are subtitles @@
@kero0killazz I meant can't catch the good pronunciation of words , cause americans speaks like pigs...anyway don't waste my time on your stupid questions , try to understand on your own way..
@jawesome01 because there´s people like me, that we are not very familiar with the lenguage, particulary at listening so we can´t get everything he says, so please respect a little, greetings from Mexico.
Thanks Jonathon....I dont know why this would not be easy to follow...I mean you have drawn it out in black and white and played also. Whats the deal with people not following?

Ok, so far I have watched a couple of your "How to play" videos and you have not shown how to play anything. All you have done is show us you playing the songs. Stop misleading with your videos. If you want to show how to play something then friggin show how to play it. I'll stick to the many better piano "teachers" on you tube. How about labeling your videos "Watch me play ___ on piano". That would be more suitable for you. I'll give you 1 star for effort and misleading people who want to learn
Are you incapable of following very well presented and highly accessible video lessons? You may need to be spoon fed with education, but there are many others out there who can learn perfectly from such well presented video lessons. It is not he who is at fault, but you. Your learning style does not fit his teaching techniques, as opposed to vice-versa.
@DivineMagix If you dont learn from this, its not the video that has a problem. you get notes, rythm, you can see where Jonathan puts his fingers, and you get to listen to it how it should be and you can practice after what you hear when you have learnt the notes. If you cant read notes and have to get a tea-spoon lesson in how to play the piano i would suggest to change instruments.
Just to top it all. Funk is not easy. This is an advanced funk groove. If you cant play it. play easier stuff!
Hi guys. You've probably noticed the order and titles of this video series is a bit confusing and screwed up on youtube. so i've numbered and ordered them , and added links to the backing track , you can find it here:
darkcognitive (dot) com
There's also other video lessons on there as well so feel free to signup and rate / comment.
'Preciate the videos. Better than most stuff on Expert Village. Could you play different funk grooves or show how to build them from a chord progression or something. It would be much appreciated.
Yeah. Funk is very rhythmic and can seem very difficult to coordinate. Just slow it down and get it under your fingers. You'll be playing it up to speed in no time. If you're a beginner, take time to develop your sense of rhythm. You've been playing 3 years, so you can just pick it up. Other folks may not get it as quick, but you're right about it not being as hard as it seems.
this is awesome im a 7th grade pianist and im definetly going to add this to my repertoire itll take lots of practise but! could u send me the pdf files to thx
Nah -- you'll be surprised how quickly you can get this stuff under your fingers if you practice slowly. I have a PDF of the music (which helps). Just message me and I'll send it to you... (-Jonathon)

When you play your stab break why do I hear a C above middle C followed by a C# above middle C? You're not playing them and their not written.??

What kinda chords(inversions) are you using regularly for stab breaks? There's got to be a standard? Right?
MedMan30 2 years ago
great stuff pal
slyme1711 2 years ago
Is this stab break just a Bflat 6 to B +5 to C or is it more related to a "so what" chord?
