The birch tree in winter Leaning over the secret pool Is Narcissus in love With the slight white branches, The slim trunk, In the dark glass; But, Spring coming on, Is afraid, And scarfs the white limbs In green. Arthur Seymour John Tessimond
A similar thread in my story. Though I listen to a lot of doom metal (which is also more sublime) and went on to listening this acustic album. A new, refreshening experience.
Maybe some will be offended but I come to think that people who listen to death metal have a greater chance of developing their musical tastes than people listening to techno or rap.
Buy Ashesh Against the Grain and Pale Folklore first, because they represent the new more kind of flowing, genious Agalloch and also the old, quite raw and maybe not so well organized (but still so amazing) side too. After these two buy The Mantle, and then the ep. This is what I suggest. Buying them in chronologic order is also a good choice, try to make up your mind =)
What about Of Stone, Wind and Pallor? It's sounds is very much like The White and I am still making up my mind if it's better than Ashes. Ashes' playtime will probably make it a winner on this one : )
Gives me the shivers, beautiful! (:
