I think this movie was loosely based off a true story.
If you read the book Storyville, New Orleans you'll see her name in there. Sadly a lot of stuff like this did use to happen to girls as young as Violet.
not so sure as to the point of this movie...ur born into a whore house, ur virginity sold off...u marry out of happiness and ur mother makes u leave. did i get it right? stupid.
I agree. It's very slow and boring at most times, and there really isn't much of a point. The ending could have been better. Doesn't seem like anything more than a pedos sexual fantasy. :/
@epjenf Yes you got it but it was the era and the right of VIolet's mother.Violet was just a young girl, and minor so her mother had all the powers on her.It is sad for Violet because i just think the photographer could have made her happy, happier than with her mother and step father.Very sad ending!!she lost her innocence and the man who saved her a time.He was good to her, others weren't even her mother.
Trash. End of speech.

I'm not so sure her "husband" saved her. I think he was a pedi like the others were. Come on, Violet was 12.
And, I'm not so sure how this kind of movie would of been embraced in 2011.
