@Guitardene It's called ebow...really adds to this song beautifully. Apparently works by an electromagnetic circuit that senses the vibration of the string, and then creates a magnetic field that propogates the string vibration at the same frequency, producing a smooth, eerie feedback.
Hey guys! We've just made an "Misheard Lyrics" style interpretation of this song, it's pretty funny, so check it out on our channel or copy this: /watch?v=dNRlDTnG8Qo and you will be entertained!
oh my god these guys are amazing! theres so much emotion in every performance i've seen of them. im in a band, and we'd love to be able to write and perform songs on this level. take a listen to our stuff on our channel if you want x
It's odd that he changes the first line of the song. It should be, "I am my mother's only one", but instead he says one of the lines later on in the song. Regardless, this version is haunting.
I've been fan of this song since I first heard it eight or so months ago. This performance was great. But I can't overlook that pretentious nonsense that took place between 3:10 and 3:45.
It's one thing to write a song out of pain. It's another thing entirely to write words or a song out of the kind of heartache that bleeds out more and more each time it's performed.
Few of us have ever experienced heartache such as this. For those that have, I hope you find some kind of solace in this.
Out of the 100 000 views this video has, I'd say that about 200-300 of them are on my account. He has a bigger part of my life than what would be considered healthy for a musician to have on a single individual, and that is, ironically enough, the sign of his greatness.
I am my mother's only one It's enough I wear my garment so it shows Now you know Only love is all maroon Gluey feathers on a flume Sky is womb and she's the moon I am my mother on the wall, with us all I move in water, shore to shore; Nothing's more Only love is all maroon Lapping lakes like leary loons Leaving rope burns -- Reddish ruse Only love is all maroon Gluey feathers on a flume Sky is womb and she's the moon [
What is that thing that the guy with the black guitar is using to make the strings vibrate? I remember my guitar teacher having one, but I can't remember the name of it for the life of me.
Check out a cover of Flume by searching Ramble and Wake. Check out the originals titled Pills and Coulda been bad as well. Pease comment and let us know what you think. Any feedback is good feedback. Thanks.
The quiet ease with which Bon Iver recreate the simple beauty of their studio album makes it seem like any one could grab some friends, guitars, and a few racks of old recording gear and make a great record. If only it really were as easy as that.
I'd say 75% of the time I drunkenly come back home after a night out, I end up playing this on my shitty acoustic guitar and drunkenly wailing the words. The perfect way to wind down.
Check out a cover of Flume by searching Ramble and Wake. Check out the originals titled Pills and Coulda been bad as well. Pease comment and let us know what you think. Any feedback is good feedback. Thanks.
@Markoy121 It is a little bit of kit for the guitar; like a hand-held magnet which uses a magnetic pulse to comstantly vibrate the guitar string (you can usually set which string youwant to vibrate) meaning that the note you're fretting never ends until you oull off (in which case it continues to play an open) or change fret or you take the e-bow off.
much like the bow for a violin or cello (which is wehre the name comes from "electronic-bow")
I can't express my frustration at how artists as breathtaking as Bon Iver are unknown to so many, but the majority of music listeners around the country love shit music like Lady Gaga and whoever we're told is quality.
@ColbyFoote so glad other people feel this way. Any time people bring up artists like Lady Gaga, and kesha, I literally say, "Oh god... don't get me started."
@ColbyFoote Why don't you stop pointing that out. Listen to this music, all the people commenting and searching for Bon Iver know what music is. Do not concern yourself with other people, all that matters is that you personally know what real music is.
I might not need another album if they keep covering these songs like this. And I thought the la blogoteque version was great. They just keep getting better and better.
