  • amazing!

  • beautiful

  • I really, really need someone who can play this song that good on piano on stage; I guess if I get this sound in my ears, I'd sing it better than I ever did with my own kind of crappy piano playing and backing tracks and stuff....

  • WOW! You play this so well! My grandad recently passed and this was played at his funeral. I'll always think of him when I hear this song. I really want to learn it on piano - just need to get one first! Thank you for putting this up - your're awesome!

  • yesss.

    excellent cover.

  • Your playing made me cry. I like you!

  • I liked your version, well played. Couldn't help but notice your splints, do you already have RSI? Makes it all the better if your able to put together such a fine piece having to deal with that.

  • Damn you're good!

  • wow, that piano sounds excellent. very nice arrangement

  • It's very cool!. I like your sound shape. thank you.

  • You are an incrediable player, are there more?

  • omg, it was just like the original! PERFECT!!!

  • Just wanted to add, I know it is doubtful because you are WAY talented and probably so past that, but I can't find one other version of this that I even remotely like. Your playing is perfectly beautiful and moving, I'm really blown away by it!

  • Hi, would it be possible to purchase a cd from you with this song in full version, but in the key of A for my son's vocal performance? You are very talented!

  • One of the very few versions here that sounds good! Thanks!

  • nice job man

  • Very nice! And I thought I liked my player piano version, but, now I'm not so sure.

  • Absolutly AMAZING! I wanna learn to play this song soooo badly! You do it soooooo well! Do you happen to have the music? Or maybe you could do a "how to" video?

  • Thank you. I used a free sample sheet of the first page and learned the rest from the CD. I don't have a way to get an overhead view and I don't think I'd be good at a tutorial (also I'm lazy :). Great song to play once you learn it though!

  • Well that's understandable about the tutorial. I'm sure I would be the same way... But is there a way you could get a link or something for the free sample sheet of the first page?

  • thats AWESOMMEEEEEEEEEEEEEE !!!!!!!!!!1111111111111

  • By far the best version out there. Tough song. The hat backwards and t-shirt are a nice tough, but the music is very good.

  • love this comment, thanks!

  • brilliant! have been looking for a near perfection to the original. ok.. this is the piece !!

  • I like it very much, nice job! Shame i can't find sheets for this song (whole song) on the net. Can you pass a link ? :D

  • Try musicnotes

    d

    o

    t

    c

    m

I think I got the sample page from that website for free and learned the rest on my own from the CD.

  • Thanks, I will :D

  • Excelente, ¡Que talento! te felicito, aunque no entiendas lo que escribo.

  • Nice going, truly inspiring, any chance of a tab for this song?

  • omg, the easiness you play those notes, as if it's nothing.. seriously, i admire your work a lot! Fantastic playing!

  • Magic!!!! 5*****

    Many thanks :)

  • wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • That was AMAZING!! :O

Do you think you could maybe make a tutorial??

  • BY FAR, the best cover of Bridge Over Troubled Water on youtube. Man it gave me the chills listening to you nailing that song! Especially the intro, I was just awestruck. Thanks for sharing!

  • Thanks very much, love the comment. Keep playing yourself and nice Kawai !

  • Thats realy a beautiful song

    Good job!!!

  • Ive looked at almost all ur videos and i have to say, u r amazing =D my hero with piano lol, keep up the good work =P

  • Thank you very much, especially for looking at so many of my vids!

  • A very accomplished and talented version... helped a little bit no doubt by your lovely sounding Yamaha piano. Good you do a version of the 'Long & Winding Road?? Please!?

  • best cover I've heard to date. keep up the good work!

  • Nice touch. Bravo!

  • Thank you. One of the few I played with some expression.

  • Bravo

  • May Larry Knetchel rest in peace, but I have to say, you are brilliant. This is as good as I've heard!

  • Bom músico.

    Daniel, Brasil.

  • great!!! I song this soon with the use of ur piano version......hope you watch video soon but i have already....take care

  • dude.. great playing there! I'll try to learn this one.

love your piano dude ..YAMAHA grand man I can just dream about it

  • Wasn't expecting much and this really surprised me. Very nice...

  • Depending on what kind of version you learn, I'd say this song is a little more advanced but not too bad. It calls for 4 notes at a time in the right hand which can be a stretch. I wouldn't say it's a beginner song but since you already play an instrument, you might pick up the piano a lot faster and maybe have some good luck with it.

  • took lessons for 9 or 10 years growing up. I don't think I'm up for a tutorial, plus I don't have a way to get a good overhead view.

  • do you have the sheet music??

  • yes

  • do you have a copy of it available for sending? like in a link or email?

  • only a hard copy sorry.

  • Best on youtube so far, well done

  • I wish we could hear you singing to it, even if it is shortened by a verse :)

  • had to shorten it to make it fit

    thats what he said

    good job

  • You make me want to Karaoke all night long! haha Great!

  • I love when people sing along.

  • Would you do a tutorial?...Please!

  • me too!

  • that's 5 more stars than I ever received!

  • Woooow my friend ! this is absolutely awesome, cool, great...thousand of adjectives I could imagine to say how I do love this !

  • Thank you thank you. I seem to have gotten a little more expression into this song than usual.

  • great performance, awesome.

  • thank you.

  • I am oakabeabe. I've had about a total of 5 piano lessons in my life. I'm 34, it's so frustrating not learning the right way. please look at my site. I know I'll never play as beautifully as you.

  • You play great for only having 5 lessons. Just think I had hundreds of lessons and I'm not nearly as good as I should be. Keep going, maybe try creating some original tunes.

  • that was nice, what did you have on your wrists though? You played amazing, to say they were strapped up! I play too, but not quite to that standard, not enough time to practice...mum of three and all that!

  • braces for some partially torn ligaments, really helps to play almost pain free. Thanks for your kind words, hope you can somehow "make" time to sit down and enjoy playing more.

  • Really? I am inspired! Managed to get 30 mins in this afternoon, just between work and picking up the kids! I am learning, slowly,Everthing I do, I do it for you.But don't expect a film of it on here for quite some time , if ever! ;o)

  • Man I have just sat listening to you all day! Awesome again!!

  • Thanks, I gotta try to play songs like they sound, I prefer it that way.

  • YOU ARE THE MAN ! ! !

  • Wow! Brought tears to my eyes....well played!

  • How did you learn to play that? I can play the version which has the melody line but its not like the studio version that S&G recorded. Ive tried to figure out the chords for the version you play but its so hard. Can you help me? Very well done, BTW.

  • I used the sheet music to get the beginning and the first part of the chorus down, then I listened to the song and learned the rest. I usually hate having to play the singer's voice in the right hand so I just go with the song.

  • Absolutely FLAWLESS & beautiful!! Love that song and you did it as much justice as anyone could. I could listen to you play all day long.

  • Thank you very much, now I just need someone to sing along. It's one of the pieces I love to play over and over again.

  • you should see my niece sing this....look up fans of Renae Orr on facebook...her dad plays the guitar on her track.

  • I would love to sing it...

  • Oh por dios!!

    tocas sensacional!!!

    Excelent

  • you look like will turner from pirates

  • Is that good or bad?

  • Oh my, you're good! I used Ii was 4-17) But I haven't played in YEARS and alas I doubt i'll ever get it all back without a lot of refresher lessons (that and my piano is in storage lol). But this is a piece I've always wanted to learn (without the melody hand).

    AMAZING JOB!!! Thanks for posting!

  • okay I need to learn english better (I just looked at my post and it probably makes no sense in the beginning). It's supposed to say:

    --------

Oh my, you're good! I used to play piano as a kid (took lessons from the time I was 4-17) but I haven't played in YEARS. And alas I doubt i'll ever get it all back without a lot of refresher lessons (that and my piano is in storage lol). But this is a piece I've always wanted to learn (without the melody hand).

    AMAZING JOB!!! Thanks for posting!

  • i must sya this is the best copy ive seen yet, i can feel some emotion, and great rythem. good job dude. not just anyone saying this either ive played for 6 years.

  • Thanks! I don't usually do well with emotion/expression in my songs, guess this one came out better than usual in that department.

  • Bravo! Thank you!

  • Good playing & good rhythm ! I enjoyed it ! You play like you enjoy it too !

  • Loved it! You're a great player. Jealous.. :)

  • Thanks, just takes an obsessive amount of practice, anyone can do it.

  • Hey man, this is really great, probably the best I've heard.

  • Thanks. I don't know if it's the best, but it might be the only one where the melody is not played in the right hand. I'll take most unique :)

  • hey thanks for the kind words. I only have a hard copy of the sheet music and no way to get it onto my pc, sorry. I started with the sheet music but 80% of this is really from listening to the version on Simon & Garfunkel's Greatest Hits.

  • Nicest version I've found on Youtube so far. Very nice. Piano sounds beautiful too! Thanks for sharing.

  • Thanks for commenting, feel free to sing along :)

  • You are very talented!

  • Thanks. It's just memorization though, I think most people can do it if they get obsessed.

  • ha I wish! I have a GC1 (if you're not familiar it's a newer model in the last couple years that combines the C1 and cheaper G series features. Still has the duplex scaling and all that good stuff but I believe the framework is similar to the G models to keep the price lower).

  • Well your version seams to me the best!! Congratulations.

  • No problem. I try to get the pieces as close to the real song as I can instead of playing the melody in the right hand to substitute for the singer's voice.

  • ive listened to other people plying this tune on the piano, and to be honest they just seem to over complicate it and ruin it, this is just right, great job..

  • I think most sheet music comes with the melody line in the right hand so that's what people play. I don't like that as much, since it's really the singer's voice that should be doing that. Thank you.

  • This is great! Can you play the full length? I can sing the song with a ukulele, but it is just not the same with out the piano.

  • yeah, it's really just repeating the verse one more time but playing it quieter and fewer notes on the 3rd time through - the "Sail on Silver Girl" part. Great song to play :)

  • Only a word: perfect!!!

  • I'll take perfect anyday, hell I'll even take pretty good.

  • dude this isn't good, not even close...its awesome.

  • I do my best, thanks!

  • Excellent.

  • seamless. You play it so well. Bravo.

What is that on your hands? I don't play the piano so sorry if it seems like a silly question.

  • that's a good question. It's probably easier to say that I can't sight read (play and read sheet music at the same time) unless it's something like "Mary Had A Little Lamb" :) so I basically memorize everything I learn, that's the only way I can play.

  • yeah.. my sight reading is poor and I normally listen, memorised and play. I took up piano many many years ago when I was still a kid but eventually gave up cos I hate classical songs. Regretted now. I took up organ in the end. But you played a great piece. Keep going brother!

  • Thank you!

  • Great. Just got the piece of this song and I have yet to learn it. I'm not good at reading notes though.

  • totally amazing man.

    I love this songs.

    Do you sing btw?

  • I do but only have an average voice. It would only ruin the song :)

  • Just shoot me ..What a performance man. Top Dollar!

  • Thanks, people seem to like this one for some reason. I guess playing it as close as I can to the song makes all the difference :)

  • woow, I have that sheet music, but I can't play it :'( no me sale!

  • 20% sheet music, 80% Greatest Hits version :)

  • That is such a great compliment, thanks!

  • i wonder..how many thousands of times youdone that!lol your good dude...

  • Absolutely fantastic. Very inspiring... not an easy song.

  • your cheeting ...you have bionic hands covered up by the bandages.........c'mon!

  • yeah and I have electronic signals under there telling my fingers exactly which notes to hit, if only the technology existed :)

  • lol..u know i was just kidding ...great stuff!

  • rofl

  • If you're determined enough you can do it with just a little ability and a lot of practice. Try it!

  • Excellent! I want to learn how to do that! What's up with the wristbands? Have you been playing the piano too much?

  • Your are good. You should be with the band of Michael Buble. He hires good looking and talented musicians.

  • okay, forget my question dude.

i just saw your other videos and obviously i would not be able to establish any comparison (in the "how long it might take to learn this") your already existing skill is entirely too superior to my just starting out.

  • I'm not sure how long it took to learn this but don't sell yourself short, you're probably getting into piano without much prior training and I had like 7 years of lessons when I was young. I bet what you can play already of the song is impressive and without all the formal training. I probably got obsessed with the song and sat down every day for a week to learn it. Then another week to get it smooth.

  • Here'e a laugh for ya, regarding my progression:

    attempted measure 1, then quit

w/more courage and grit tried a week later and got through couple of measures, week later could play all of 4Ms, then finished intro (not perfect, but okay and slow). It's been a month now and can play (with plenty of mistakes)to M14. Admittedly, it is coming quicker.

  • I'd like to point out to prev-poster, that it is a diff-piece for beg-piano player, but i am so glad i challenged myself, instead of settling on less enjoyable, but easier piece.

when you pick up an inst at 39y.old, 1.you must be determ. and 2. not enough time to waste on working my way up to it. Besides if your mindset is one of this is a daily hobby, that brings personal enjoyment, then this is not too diffi-a-piece.

  • sorry this will be long and may be in two replies, but a golden tip for those in my shoes: set up computer by piano. Then, after download music program (i use finale notepad),

  • each day you sit down to play enter a measure or 2 from the Sheetmusic--divide the bass&treb on two dif-sheets. So, when you practice, slow the tempo on finale and that way you can play it at the speed you learn and it serves as an example for learner regarding tempo and how each chord sounds.

Not to mention your understanding of theory will sky-rocket.

  • how long did it take you to learn this, as well as you play in this vid?

this is my first piano song to wholeheartedly attempt to learn (coming from classical guitar for the last year)

i am through measure14 and it has taken a month to learn just those 14 decently. that's with about an hour a day. btw, your video has shown me the best tempo and hand movement; for instructional value--very fluid.

  • Would love to see your video of it once you have it down.

  • will do.

my goal is to be perfect by end of january, then play with my 10yr old daughter singing.

it is her favorite S&G, close second is Scar-fair.

  • I love this; and you know what else I'm thinking. =]

    xo

    ~me~

  • Sounds like a avid fan out there, thanks! I'm waiting to see your videos too :) :) :)
