Funny how some people, namely nonAmericans, try to tell us how American things are and they cannot figure out that Americans already know how things are i.e. this guy is the owner of the motorcycle but somebody who has probably never ridden a motorcycle at all, much less a Buell Firebolt in particular, is going to tell the man who has ridden it over 10,000 miles how poorly it works. It's even worse in gun videos, AR15/m16/m4 videos in particular.
@oeyesea ahhaha yeah I got a 12Firebolt and a AMD65 and I carred a M-16A2 in Infantry combat..I know exactly what youre talking about. When us Americans actually make something for ourselves it blows everyone else away, Europhags dont understand that we know exactly what were doing..just ask Japanese and European Buell XB owners...they fucking LOVE the XB!
@Gloomshadow1 Europhags embrace the Buell so shut up. Just take a look at the online Buell community over here. The best customised parts for a Buell are designed and manufactured in Europe, and here's where you all American folks order your pimping gear. Oh and I love my Bushmaster AR15-M4. To me personally these are the two greatest things that were made in the USA. Ever.
There are a lot of people who dont know shit for shit about bikes that conmmented on buells. buells are bad ass. Especially around corners. Yeah they might only do 140 but when a jap bike slows down i dont. Sick bike dude
@justfine77777 XB12R 395lbs divided by 103 HP equals 3.83 H.P. per pound...V-rod 643 lbs divided by 120 H.P. equals 5.36 per pound. If both riders weigh about the same the firebolt should out run the v-rod.
@Bloodsteri667 When was the last time 140-150mph wasn't enough for you? Honestly, have you ever even seen faster than that, and if so how often? The xb12r It's one of the best handling bikes you'll ever ride - it's telepathically good. It has huge low end torque - the sort of power you can use every day. So why wouldn't you want it?
@Bloodsteri667 because you really need to go so much faster, theres a reason ppl love buell, torqure and the ability to run circles around jap shit in the twisties.
@Bloodsteri667 It's not about the top end speed, it's about how it gets there ;-) Voted "best handling bike of all time" in RIDE magazine, I would say that is a good reason why someone would want one!?!!!?! I have had a Yam R1, GSXR750, GSXR1000 and the buell is so much more fun to ride!
@Bloodsteri667 Its an air-cooled V-twin thats why, it was aimed at the 600 class not the Hyabusa. Its tiny and light, like a 250, nothing like the other 1200 I-4 liquid cooled bikes, totally different class.
you don't ride do you. that does happen, and anyone that knows even an inkling about rubber knows that heat breaks it down. you know what I mean, it's like when poly's boytoy push to fast and all the friction makes heat, then his rubber breaks and they have baby squids!
Okay I'm tired of all these dumb fucking scooter riders dropping their fucking hand to me, I will not show you fucking respect. And while i'm on the subject if you and your old lady are wearing matching outfits and helmets and it all matches your fucking bike your not a fucking biker. I ride a scooter to save gas to and from work, On the weekends I drive a bike, Did you ever think of it that way? I gety wavied at by the bikers on my scooter. I have a very sporty looking scooter but still thats a fucked up way to feel, Anyone on 2 wheels should be respected.
Hey, going 2 and from work I don't need to look cool, On the weekends yes, But I actually had quite a few rice rocket riders checking my little scooter out, LOL, They could not believe I was running people off the line at traffic lights and weaving in and out of lanes with the POS.
Right on, I'm not trying to hate. It's cool no matter what you ride, I just don't waive at scooters. Especially the 50cc gators that think they are cool. Rubber side down bro.
im sorry not 200 hndred a year like 200 a month im 17, did you buy out right or finace, i know its none of my business, but they said it makes all the difference. thanks for any input
You sold your bike because you dont like the service? Why not learn how to do the work yourself instead of buying a great bike? Also, why did you bike need so much service? Sounds fishy if you ask me...
I'm too busy to work on my bike(s) - I rather pay someone to do it. I don't mind paying, but in return I expect good service. As for service, it was all done according to the scheduled maintenance described in the owners manual. Although I had the bike for about a year, I managed to place >13K miles. I ride bikes, I am no "weekend rider".
As I said, I love Buells, and I would buy another in the future, but only when they have independent dealers or are sold by someone other than Harleys.
I think Harley dealers treat the Harley riders like shit. Just wondering, did they over-billing or did they destroy the bike and charge you for it? I've got horror stories of my own too. And what manufacturer gave you the best service. Thanks.
Mostly all dealers charge the same thing, and we all know that owning bikes is an expensive "hobby". Most problems were caused by "not caring" about the bike. Stuff forgotten to be done, incorrectly performed maintenance, "mangled" work, and lastly unable to correct damaged caused by lack of experience working on "high tech" components. As for best service, I would say BMW.
what an awesome bike... i bought an 'O4 XB12R in the beginning of the ridding season and sold it at the end. I broke even when i sold it. It was an awesome bike. Everyone should ride it at least once.
I had it... I sold it last August... Loved it, but disliked Harley service departments. Buell owners come second before "chrome cows"... really pity, because this was one of my favourite bikes.
its probably alot cheaper then you think. they are selling where i live for about 11,000$ canadian. just got back from the bike show a few mins ago. lol
Sounds like a propane powered forklift! Seriously though, I got the chance to ride one, it's an AMAZING piece of engineering. Easily one of the most impressive bikes on a short list of the best bikes ever.
Good fun. I've got an '02 xb9r. Nothing out does these bikes on a corner. ;) The audio on this video doesn't do it justice though, it sounds like a tractor! Haha!
You will love them - I did until I got tired of the Harley's service department bullshit!
I've sold my 12R, but I miss the bike. The only time I'll buy another Buell will be when these bikes have a dedicated dealership - other then this happening, no way I'll spend my money again on them.
Everytime I took my bike for service, it was like a gamble to see what would come out wrong! If you questioned, you got the typical Harley service guys' attitude - pay up and shut up!
its said to hear that what dealership were you using...i work at one and if something like that were to happen someone would get fired we are also a smaller dealership though so we dont even carry buell :(
Which dealer, in your opinion, treated you unfairly? Just curious because I sold my sportster because of the lousy performance and it was burning oil right out of the box new.
Before you guys below make some comments on "heavy harley engine" you should look up the specs on these bikes. they are not heavy at all, and super short, skinny, and narrow. They're a bike that entertains and impresses the rider, it's not trying to impress the squids on there seamless bland cookie cutter sport bikes. These bikes have character and soul. It's even more amazing they have achieved the performance and reliability out of what is basically a 100 year old American motor.
hey come on now!. Those "cookie cutters" are what its all about. Ye, having a "heart" and or "soul" are the words used for vehicles that have historically been known to be good looking but shit and unreliable. U know.....mechanically bad.
Some should not be allowed to make comments like little SV kiddy "cast iron". The fact he claims to have ridden one and is so stupid he cannot see that there is no cast iron anymore than his SV has, speaks volumes of his ignorance. Marek does no better with his commnets...does your bike have a 2 year unlimited milage warranty, like the Buell? Why not? Is it shit and unreliable?
Im the one who is talking about the SV on the this page, and your talking shit to me. Fool, my friend who owns a 2007 Firebolt XB9R told me it was cast iron, AND I DID ride it. Its in every way a more brutal version of my bike. And furthermore you 46 year old idiot, my bikes engine is consisted of aluminum, and NO it doesnt have a 2 year unlimited MILEAGE not MILAGE warranty BECAUSE ITS USED. And to think youd be a more accomplished adult than me because your exactly TWICE my age. Pathetic.
The confusion here is probably because some refer to Buell as "American Iron". Tell your friend that he's got some cast iron stuck between his ears. If he doesn't believe you, hand him a magnet, pat him on the head, and tell him to go have some fun.
they weight 174kgs or 380pounds. ducs are nice. they have the veetwin duc sound, but its not a buell. buells have a heart and soul all their own. a vibration and sound that sturs the heart and a ride ability that is briliant. one bueller to another - nice bike mate!
I like the more aggressive riding position that the R gives rather than the more upright position of the S. Both are great, but try riding upright on a naked bike on a highway with no wind protection - gets tiring very quick. Its all a matter of preference.
different tastes while the ducati has more power probably a higher top speed its still not like a buell they have completely different personalities if you get what i'm trying to say..plus buells are extremely well handling bikes
Yep, but its made from the same stuff like, the stuff they use to make the chevy vortec heads. A pretty high-grade cast though. And It takes A LOT of heat. If you put a turbo on it, you can shove up to 12-15 psi before you have to put any other mods to assist the power being put out, but you'll get like +150hp and +120ft/lbs. of torque.
Powersliding, I'm currently riding my 2nd Buell, and when I wear this one out, I'll get another one. There is nothing else like them out there, you really have to go try one, unbelievable on twisty roads.
love the sound, love the bike, heard it has handling and agility, love the video, heard its quick. But after seeing the triple clamps vibrate at start up, no sir!
Very nice! I'm probably gonna get the XB9R as it's my first bike. Is there a lot of vibration on the 12R when riding? Also, do you happen to know if there is any difference between the '04 model and '07 model?
9R's are almost the same, but with less torque and hp. THey also rev slightly higher. My 12R smooths out completely between 3k and 4k rpm. Vibrations are part of its character, and it doesn't bother me at all - I actually like it. Its almost like an untamed beast... LOL
I just bought my XB12R they have 103 hp and 84ftlbs of torque. I love the bike however..... I wish I would have waited to buy it as they JUST came out with the Buell 1125R rated at 146 hp liquid cooled bike I may trade my XB in on it. google buell to find their website for info
a zx6 is more powerful then the xb12, youd be better off keeping the 250 for 1-2yrs of riding, and then upgrade to this bike, you can find them used for 6k
Not true, as they say torque is what moves it, HP is what sells it. There are only a few sport bikes that come off the line with more torque than an XB12R. Because this bike will pull your arms out at 3K rpm he should wait a while before getting on it.
Beautiful machine! I took one out during the Buell demo days and it was quite the performer, especially that front brake!! I own a Sportster but when it comes to Buell, my favorite is the XB12S. Ride safe!
Thanks Dave. This bike is just amazing - handling, torque, sound, what a difference from high revving engines. I still like the sports riding position, but I understand that its not the most comfortable, so I hear you with your favorite. I rode one, but at highway speed on a S model, it soon becomes apparent the limitation of a more upright siting position. Of the H&D models, I also like the Sportster the best. Maybe in the future I'll lean towards one...

the buell is made for corners, and you can gear it higher if you wanted to get a better top speed, but it's more of a trick and handling bike.

Who knows... couldn't care less what the engine is made of. As long as it performs, that's all that counts. :)

it must weigh a ton!

Probably...

why did u get the R and not the S ?
marek0086 4 years ago
I like the more aggressive riding position that the R gives rather than the more upright position of the S. Both are great, but try riding upright on a naked bike on a highway with no wind protection - gets tiring very quick. Its all a matter of preference.
Sunfire12R 4 years ago
but thats what i dont get. If u wanted a supersport....why didnt u just get a ducati V-twin. Instead of something with a heavy harley engine in it. ?
marek0086 4 years ago
different tastes while the ducati has more power probably a higher top speed its still not like a buell they have completely different personalities if you get what i'm trying to say..plus buells are extremely well handling bikes
jonxmartini 4 years ago
its not heavy...the xb12 weighs 30 lbs more than an r6

Its a special alloy... look it up on the site.. I think i remember reading it there

nah it doesnt say anything on the site......i dont think
marek0086 4 years ago
Its plain jane cast-iron, but when I rode one (XB9S) it felt as lite as my SV650s, and handles retarded awesome
Ryknfjor 4 years ago
cast iron ay? are u 100% on that???
marek0086 4 years ago
Yep, but its made from the same stuff like, the stuff they use to make the chevy vortec heads. A pretty high-grade cast though. And It takes A LOT of heat. If you put a turbo on it, you can shove up to 12-15 psi before you have to put any other mods to assist the power being put out, but you'll get like +150hp and +120ft/lbs. of torque.
yeah, thats crazy.

looks totally fantastic, in a form follows function way

The exhaust is below your feet when riding... Unless you prefer to let your feet dangle like that; in which case, you're just silly.

Vegaspimp must have looong legs, and he probably enjoys having his legs flapping in the wind... LOL

I love how the hot exhaust bakes your ankles
vegaspimp 4 years ago
I don't get your comment... I've never felt that before... ?!?
Sunfire12R 4 years ago
I've rode Buells before and the exhaust never baked me.

Just love that bike... hmmmm...

It has been great - 10K miles with no problems whatsoever! Still gets me grinning everytime I take her out!

sounds like a Buell

Powersliding, I'm currently riding my 2nd Buell, and when I wear this one out, I'll get another one. There is nothing else like them out there, you really have to go try one, unbelievable on twisty roads.
buelligan123 4 years ago
The shaking adds to the incredible character of the bike, and it smooths out completely when you are moving. There is nothing like character... lol
Sunfire12R 4 years ago
love the sound, love the bike, heard it has handling and agility, love the video, heard its quick. But after seeing the triple clamps vibrate at start up, no sir!
powersliding 4 years ago
Very nice! I'm probably gonna get the XB9R as it's my first bike. Is there a lot of vibration on the 12R when riding? Also, do you happen to know if there is any difference between the '04 model and '07 model?
Thanks!
italy430 5 years ago
9R's are almost the same, but with less torque and hp. THey also rev slightly higher. My 12R smooths out completely between 3k and 4k rpm. Vibrations are part of its character, and it doesn't bother me at all - I actually like it. Its almost like an untamed beast... LOL
Sunfire12R 5 years ago
haha nice... yea i don't mind a little vibration, i'm sure it wouldn't be much as these bikes get rave reviews.
thanks for the info.

how many hp does it have?
kimfiljitar 4 years ago
I just bought my XB12R they have 103 hp and 84ftlbs of torque. I love the bike however..... I wish I would have waited to buy it as they JUST came out with the Buell 1125R rated at 146 hp liquid cooled bike I may trade my XB in on it. google buell to find their website for info

Come on!! rev that baby up
jw, how long have you been riding? Usually how long do people ride for people get a 1000+ cc sportbike?
This is my dream bike.
Im 16, and I own a 92 ninja 250. Hopefully in a year or two I will upgrade up to the zx-6r or the yzf r-6.
then maybe in 7-10+ years Ill get this baby.. This bike is my dream
dohun 5 years ago
a zx6 is more powerful then the xb12, youd be better off keeping the 250 for 1-2yrs of riding, and then upgrade to this bike, you can find them used for 6k
tysonraynor 5 years ago
