Such an amazing movie, underrated by many. Tom Cruise is an amazing actor, he just needs more movies like these to star in. The music, the actors, the weird sci-fi mixed with the love story and the pursuit of one's awakening make this one of my favorite movies. Definitely in my top 5.

@ecanem1964 - how about this: the main character is one of those people that others envy. Yet even they go through struggles. The viewer ends up identifying with someone they would envy through life. I remember a saying something like "be kind to the people you meet for you don't know what battles they are facing."  It is probably the most pithy quip I've heard. I tend to be hard on people and this is something I have to work on to reflect and step back.

It seems as though he is caught in a parralel existance bouncing back and fourth between the two. In the one existance is his soul mate played by Penelope Cruz. In the other is played by Cameron Diaz but he senses something is wrong but can't open his eyes to see that this is not his true place.

the parallel effect is baffling and tiresome in every way. It seems that like in the film, he has lived within this life for over 150 years. I hope that he is patching up his errors(Cameron Diaz) and realizing that all that we do is already done about ourselves-good and bad. Where we think we are making the proper decisions. We really are just being led to the ultimate realization that life is already made for us to do our part here-whatever that may be. I just hope mine is to be me.....
