And, this comment goes out in memory of a friend of mine who worked with me at CIGNA and died after working there a year with no insurance. She had developed pneumonia and was a single mother who left three children behind. RIP Chistine - I told you I wouldn't forget this travesty, and today it is in your memory I'll bring it back up. She was a CIGNA employee at FCO 246 in Visalia, CA.

Other companies my experience took me to: Health Net, Blue Cross, Aetna; just to name some, and one of their contracting medical groups. They're all just the same. I left the industry on good terms but knew their approach to health care is not justifiable. We need a single-payer now!

The new catch phrase "Insurers are Immoral" I hope people don't fall for this. Sure some correction is needed but they are not the sole reason for the problems with health care. I am a nurse and it amazes me how the dems never bring up the LAWYERS. All to often families threaten law suits if they don't get the results they want. On my unit we have an 89 year old that has been in a coma for a month. Her family will not sign a do not resuscitate order.

Insurers are, indeed, immoral. We can thank insiders, like former CIGNA exec Wendell Potter, for his honesty about an industry's corrupt monopoly we call health care. As a former insider myself, I agree with Potter, and it's time to let the sunshine in and the American public know what goes on behind the scenes when their claims get denied. Only hacks would argue that profiting from denying health care is health care when it's the exact opposite of it.

I did both sides from Hartford to Glendale, starting in one FCO and ending up in another health plan. Ever notice how they'd talk about the cost of readjudicating claims amounting to ten times the original billed costs, yet impose internal standards that warranted reconsiderations. Fortunately, I was there on good terms and had a good rapport with my peers, but we saw firsthand how this was not the best approach to medicine.

Furthermore, their backlog had gotten just plain illegal with dating violations that were inexcusable where someone else who had nothing to do with it would take the fall and end up escorted out, just to protect upper mgmt. They should've treated their employees much better than the team-talk consultants who scammed them into one violation after another. CIGNA was a criminal enterprise.

yes it is, i got sick returned to worked after 3 months and was immediately let go. I flipped the bosses the double bird and exited the building. I dont think single payer with the Government is the answer but better regulation of the insurance companies would be in order. Of course Obama met with these criminal CEO early in this debate. not good, not transparent.

It will take the hospital to get a court order to move this patient. Do you know what a day in ICU cost. If just this was addressed the savings would be great. It is that fear that causes doctors to order tests and care that shouldn't be done running up costs. this is also a major problem but never brought up. Lawyers = money=votes!
