  • can this fit the nikon d50 plzzz reply

  • Does this fit on the nikon d3100 , can it ?

  • @Nurds1231 No, the D3100 doesnt have an external mic input.

  • might be using this mic for my schools senior video o:

  • Does it have a line level output?

  • I just have bought this mic, haven't used it much yet thou so can't say anything about sound quality. When I first opened package and examined the mic I was surprised how cheaply build it looked. For example, the light pipe for power led wasn't on its right place which is often typical to cheap made in China products but shouldn't be for this kind of "non-China" product. Ofcourse it doesn't affect sound quality, but still - cheaply build is cheaply build (or badly designed).

  • @SuperEd86 AGC... that's your problem

  • I don't know if there's something wrong with my mic, but it has a LOT of noise. Even if I'm in a quiet room, the noise level of the room tone is extremely high.

Any ideas what might be wrong?

  • @SuperEd86 have the exact same problem..have you fixeds it?

  • Thank you for this very helpful video....

  • just wondering, is that an xps 15z laptop in the background? and what mic would you recommend for under 200 bucks?

  • I have this mic and it works great. I like how every piece of the mount can be taken off and or changed. A lot of flexibly.

  • does anyone know if it works for the nikon d7000?

  • @Napoopselrules so long as your camera has a 3.5mm microphone input, then yes.

  • @Alxe73191 Thanks :D I ordered it, and it came in the mail yesterday this mic is AWESOME

  • does this mic work If I plug it right on the hot shoe because my dslr camera doesnt have a mini jack but I heard earlier that this one didn't use a mini jack input it just attached to the hot shoe... so I need help. and great review btw thanks

  • @supragnar nope you have to have a 1/8 in input somewhere. If your dslr doesn't have a minijack you'll have to go with a "two systems" setup and get a separate audio recorder as well.

  • Is this mic good for making music covers?

  • Is that the rode NTG - 1? What do you think about rode NTG 2 oder NTG 3?

  • @KobialkaHH I own the NTG-2 and love it

  • 100% like, just the way I LIKE it!

  • Do you think this microphone would be good for recording something in a large room? I'm trying to record stand up comedy and I'm not sure if I should get a mono or stereo mic.

  • What mic did you use for the rest of the video?

  • i'm the 100th like :)

  • Hey. My Rode Videomic sounds really bad. I don't know if it is me doing it wrong or something but it sounds like i've but a box over the mic when i recorded. Can anyone please help? What am I doing wrong or what is wrong with the mic? Thank you

  • @benbre95 bad as in quiality or is there a hum or hiss?

  • @benbre95 mine too..have you fixed your problem?

  • What is "boomable" mic?

  • @BelgianEvo You can attach it to a boom pole.

  • @SteveO11990 : Okay thanks for the answer :) How dumb from me :)

  • @BelgianEvo The ability to be able to be put on a boom pole?

  • Could you post spec in the description?

Also, the size of the plug on that, in other words is it the size the would fit in an iPod headphone jack? (I don't plan on plugging it into an ipod because I know it wouldn't work, I'm just trying to get an Idea on the size. :D )

  • Thanks for this! :) Great video, great help.

  • how much it cost? where can I buy it?

  • @gaspermarquitos1987 It's About $150.00 US Dollars and you can buy it at amazon.com.

  • I know its a dv mic but would it work for a computer

  • @ryan18245 Probably. I'm Not sure.

  • Can anyone tell me whether it's possible to mount this on a canon legria hf m36/306 camera? because the camera doesn't have a mic jack but it has a shoe mount.

  • @woofingdinosaur Well, you could mount it on the camera but without a mic jack it's pointless. ;D

  • Thank you for a more serious review than all others I have seen until now...

  • Thank you very much for your review video.

Now i just need a mini shoe mount to use this mic on my Canon HF S20. ;)

  • Could this go on a 7d? or a DSLR?

  • @TommyPh500d Yes you can, in fact that's probably who Rode were targeting with this microphone. The mount is a hot shoe mount thus you can simply mount it on top, and plug in to the DSLR with the mini jack. I use it on my Canon T2i/550D.

  • @TommyPh500d its made for DSLR camera, I have one with my D7000 and so it will fit to the 7d because Nikon and Canon have the same hotshoe...

  • @Spaeckli cheers

  • @TommyPh500d YES :) infact its pretty much designed for them, 6d wouldve been better though

  • anyone have an idea what to do with this because its only compatible with the Camcorder series and I now have DSLR

  • @ClickKopf hahahahaha lol wrong video, I meant to type this on the dm100 review

  • will this work on a Canon 550D?

  • Hey how much for your early 2008 macbook pro mate? ;)

  • Anybody know of another shotgun mic in this price range that is just as good? whether it be cheaper or a few dollars more, can someone name a few? aside from the new videomic pro

  • i just got this mic for my canon vixia hf s200 and it has a lot of hissing/noise. someone help please!!!!

  • hey anybody who knows audio stuff..whats a good mic for recording singing and some acoustic guitar?

  • They just announced the release of the Rode VideoMic PRO this weekend. It will retail for around $230, and the reviews are super stellar. A lot of improvements since the original VideoMic.

  • This mic is AWESOME!!

  • when I grow up I want to have a ponytail ! (babemagnet )

  • does it fit the hot shoots in sony's?

  • will it fit a hv40 cam ?

  • @teabagnose

    Yes.

  • is it stereo

  • Hello Fine Sir,

Where did you buy your Rode video mic, as i cannot find it on sale online (on their official website) and well i live in the U.A.E and it is impossible to find it down here, so what would be your suggestion?

  • Rode videomic work with Canon Vixia HG21?

Work like accesory shoe and off-shoe....with "boompool"?

  • I have got a Sony XR550ve, will it fit perfectly?

  • @EarthquakeInThule

No, don't get this one. Sony has some that are much better. Search on B&H Photo for Sony camcorder mics. They have tons.

  • This Is My Teacher! Haha! Either That or You Look EXACTLY Like Him! lol

  • does it make stereo sound? or just mono, it seems like mono here.

  • The rubber bands that held the mic in place are very cheaply made and fastened - I think it was about 5 months of use they began to snap. While the mic itself is brilliant, the layout of it really brings you down sometimes. Also, the main problem lies in the WIRES. When you're walking with this mic attached, the wire tends to lightly touch the camera, and that creates an annoyingly loud sound when you listen to the replays. This is an awesome mic, but make sure you have the wires secured.

  • I have this mic, and since buying it, I record with it all the time, even for home vids of just nothing really.

  • Great review. You're a great guy. High five

  • I want one

  • How good is this in isolating sound in a restaurant table if I'm sitting across from subject but don't want to hear ambient noise of other patrons. Or would a lavalier wireless mic be better for that situation. I want to interview people in noisy settings. Would be nice if I didn't have to attach a mic to them. Thanks.

  • is it stereo or mono?

  • good review

  • Can it come off the mount so you can use it for a boom pool??

  • just a question... could u use this for the computer too?

  • For all of you wondering, the Rode Videomic is boomable. You just need to remove the shoe fastener using a Philips screwdriver to access the two threaded holes.

Oh, and why do most film technical people sport ponytails? This is like... my fifth time seeing a camcorder accessory reviewer with a friggin' ponytail.

  • I know what you mean.

  • hard on the ponytails! what does boomable mean?

  • @TrexNocturn What's wrong with a ponytail ?

    Thanks for the review ehowreviews

  • @TrexNocturn That's like film directors and beards.... lol

  • @TrexNocturn cause they think its a windcap

  • thank you

  • Hello,i seriously need help!!!I want to buy this mic and i live in Europe.I bought a canon hg10 camera in USA.Will this mic work on my camera??(i will buy this mic in europe)

  • yes it will.

  • Yeah I am thinking about picking this up. I found it for about 112$ online, great deal for a great microphone!

  • VERY HELPFUL! I think i'm getting one!

  • Your video was very helpful in helping me decide on this product prior to purchase. Thank you for taking the time to make such a great review video.

  • what mic did you use to record this ??

    sounds great!

  • I just bought one of these based on your review. It is absolutely brilliant dunno why people rely on their camcorders mics. The sound from this is flippin ace! I've ordered a fluffy wind sheild for it as well.

  • @airscrew1 how much did just the mic cost and where did you get it?

  • @enjoi612 I bought it from a company in the south of England but I can't even remember who they are even though they send me their catalogue every year. Can't even remember what I paid for it. I'm using it now with a Zoom H" recorder as I'm back shooting on 16mm film and as you probably know 16mm cameras don't record sound.

  • would this still work on a canon gl1 or gl2? I need a cheap shotgun mic quick.

  • yea it would work

  • What is the name of the microphone you used to record this video? When not using the Rode.

  • thanks for the review. I didn't know the mic would not pick up sound if not pointed at source. Thanks again.

  • Thanks for the review.

I would buy this model...but there's also the cardiod stereo videomic.

Do you recommend the stereo one for external recordings? I think that the mono version is good for external use...only if you have to record inteviews or dialogs for a movie.

Let me know something about this and thanks.
