wow no grain in low light! I have a XHA1 and it is quite grainy in low light even with all manual mode / ND off / -3DB gain etc etc

"Still a little shaky, just got my hands on the HM100 today." -- It is shaky because the HM100 has crappy OIS. This is sad, because otherwise it is a great camera.

@ConsumerDV That might be a good point - but I myself don't have the world's most steady hands - at least not all the time. So a physical stabilisation-system would also be welcome (good tripod, and maybe a merlin)

@RubenKremer Absolutely. A tripod would be the best, but sometimes there is no possibility to use a tripod, so a good stabilization system comes handy. I sold the HM100 that I used to own, and I bought the HMC40. The Panasonic has much better stabilization and its exposure controls are simpler, but the body feels cheaper and the rolling shutter effects are noticeable sometimes. There is no perfect camera.

@ConsumerDV Completely agree with your last point! There simply can't be a perfect camera, everyone has their own wishes, and every situation might call for another type of 'perfect'. I went with the HDDSLR-movement - images are stunning, but those are far from perfect camera's. Completely unsuitable for 'beginnners', there are way too many variables to take into account - it takes a lot of effort to get the perfect image. But so far, worth every second and penny ;-)

I just Bought the JVC GY HM 100U on June 9TH 2010 and It is GREAT I Love It, I have Used so many different JVC's in the Past and I Must Say the JVC GY HM 100U is the Best out of all. SERIOUSLY!

I think that's a smart choice, the HMC150 has a whole lot more 'body' to it, and seems to be quite a step higher up the ladder... Only I'm quite stunned that the HMC150's bitrate doesn't go any higher than 21Mbps, the HM100 went all the way up to 35Mbps

I am concerned that when SDXC cards come into the market, cameras using SDHC will be 'obsolete'. Or am I just being paranoid for no reason?

Guess that practically won't matter too much. Since the fact that SDXC will provide higher capacity doesn't directly mean that those camera's will record at a higher bitrate. Moreover, SDHC will remain available. But if you can wait that long, it might not be such a bad idea to wait it out, see how those SDXC cams turn out ...

Perhaps, but I've handled the pana for a sec and it just felt more flimsy than the jvc. I've worked with the JVC last week all week long, and I honestly must say: pretty happy with how it handled!
