The bockoffice and the budget of this movies makes you think and base this is Films are the best! thats why they had the crane on the set, they've probably had the car swingingover the set and start the footage at the moment it hits the ground, so it looks like it just blew of the ground=D

-Sam and the girl are taken away in that brand new GMC Yukon Denali and Optimus Prime just destroys it.

-The city fight, cause there is at least every tenth second a car destroyed

I know. It all looks so damn good but the movie is one big disaster. How could they screw it up that much. A lot of stuff wasn't believable at all. Like that ridiculous scene in which Megatron chases Sam through a building and not being able to catch him. Which all powerful bot wouldn't succeed? and then you had the weak script. I agree, Spielberg would have done a much better job at directing this. Bay uses so many quick cuts and crazy camera angles, that you can't tell what's happening most of the time. Everything feels rushed like it did in Armageddon.

This was still Bay's best film though. But that's probably because Spielberg produced it.

James Cameron is the king of action, and Steven Spielberg is the king of adventure.

If you have either of these two men working on your film, then your film will kick ass. It's that simple.

This is why I consider Transformers to be a Spielberg film, not a Bay film.

The only films that Bay has directed that I've liked were "The Rock" and "Transformers".

He usually doesn't get good performances out of actors and his films feel rushed. He also throws a lot of stupid shit in there, like John Turturro's character in Transformers, or the horrible love story in Pearl Harbor.

Spielberg, Cameron, Ron Howard and Peter Jackson are the real deal in my opinion.

RJW1977 - Rushed? They had a mission to keep only the robots CGI. That's something incredibly weird in a world of computer generating technology. Even basic things like trains, people, places are CGI. These were real.

When I say rushed I mean that one thing leads to the next very quickly. The audience doesn't get a chance to breath because they're being hit with something from one moment to the next. James Cameron is the only director that can successfully do this, and even then he gives the audience some down time to reflect on what's happening.

I know what you're saying, but when you have dramatic music and shaky camera angles on 95% of the scenes in a film, it dilutes the big climatic scenes. So in essence, the entire film turns into one giant incohesive climax that never slows down. Armageddon is probably the best example of this. James Cameron is the best action director because he knows how to set the pace and how to build the scenes up. Michael Bay knows how to blow shit up and work with the military.

RJW1977 - I hardly think the music is dramatic. Star Wars, that has drumatic music. And if you think the shifty camera angles are bad watch REC or Quarentine or even the famous Blair witch project. And in these video's you'll find they all their action scenes (except the robots) are pretty much real. So gathering that with perfectly stationary cameras is difficult.
