If you have to take your hand off the keyboard to get a significant effect, then you're better off just using a pedal controller.

The ring makes sounds that cannot be replicated with a pedal, plus if tracks the playing motion perfectly. It is so loud at NAMM that impact of the effect is hard to capture without being overly dramatic.
