@fenotipobombay Yes of course. If one is not trained properly for striking with a sword, the edge can be ruined or the cut will not be successful. It is good to know what you are doing with such razor sharp objects.
@whannes Thank you. Yes, I practice with real blades as often as possible. Rattan does not give the same feeling as a nice shiny and sharp blade does.
@tubedude I dont know where you get the "RUMOR" that Martin Burnham's head was chopped off by the rebel terrorist abu sayaf! he was killed in a crossfire between the Philippine military and the abu sayaf! Martin Burnham was a great Man, a Good Missionary of God.
0:59, What a powerfull blow! That was truly impressive. It does not take too much imagination to consider how effective that blade can be as a weapon.
@eacortes To tell you the truth, that blew my mind how easily it cut through. Imagine going back to the days when these were needed for self defense or tribal wars, the bodys hacked up all over the place. Sword fighting must have been quite a messy job.
The golok knife is not really from the phillipines it originated from indonesia so that knife is not really used in the phillippines its only use to cut up baboy which is pig in the phillippines, mainly use for chopping up meat. The bolo knife is the one they used to chop off the head of that american named Martin Burnham back in May of 2001.
@tubedude101 Bolo is a generic term for ever blade you see on tradtionalfilipinoweapons(dot)com. So to say his head was cut off with a bolo knife does not really describe the knife. Golok is used in the north around Bagiuo area. The people that live in that mountainous area are descendants of Indonesia so you are likly to see resemblances in bladed weapons. The weapons of the north are not that popular so it is easy to make a mistake in identity.
@tubedude101 The War Golok is a more northern weapon. Abu Sayaf is mostly in the south. So you are wrong on what they use to cut heads off. They use guns more than blades now a days also.
which would you suggest for more of an outdoor multi use role role the standard golok or this war golok i ask becasue it seems the standard golok has a pinned handle where as it looks as this is full tang in your opinion which would be your go to one the one that youd reach for first in a shtf scenario?
I sell both to land scapers and campers all over the world. Both of them seem to be the sword of choice in those aspects. One does not sell more than the other. The War Golok can cut through 3 bodies easily then again so can the Golok. By the way, the Golok is full tang. The War Golok has a stronger handle because it is all 1 peice. Feel free to order, I get all orders out by the next day.
No problem at all. My blade makers have evolved in their knowledge of steel and forging. You will be more than happy with your war golok I can promise you that.
I import both 5160 and D2 to the Philippines. They blend it somehow. I am not the blade maker so I do not know their technique of blending. I am the dealer and owner of TFW only. I look forward to adding to your collection though.
nice and curious sword but I bet for sure that its not the blade quality and edge so great but your tecnique that makes the difference

whannes 6 months ago
