I love my OS .46ax, my dad gave it to me when I first started and its been through 3 crashes and still keeps on going! Now its in my Phoenix Model Scanner and I've flown the crap out of it in the last year, and now its really starting to lose compression. Be a sad day when I retire it. :(
@UsernameVb You need to be on top of it for sure, and as long as you understand what the controls do, before flying and you can see it while flying, it helps. But practice and crashes is the only way in the learning curve to succeed. Good luck.
WOW Dave, Nice video. Where is the build video? But really if you do another one of these great designs by Bill could you give some of us newer come latelies a look at how you build and modify these birds? Love your vids. See you in the air.
very cool its nice to see the after so many years you still have alot of passion for what you love to do ,i think the is the key to live if you find what you love to do you will do it forever
Great resurrecting and flying that piece of history, Dave! Same with me, RC flying sort of keeps me sane. Don't stop building, tinkering, flying and making these awesome "how- to" and "I see" informative videos with midi music (lol, part of the charm). Best regards from California.
@slvmnr Orbit made pretty good radios too, and I had a few. But gosh I havent heard the word Kraft Brick in a long time, of which I also had a few back in the day too. Thanks for the comments.
@slvmnr Thanks very kindly for your remarks. Glad you liked it, because like you, it restored some fantastic memories for back in the day while I was producing this video. Happy flying and go dust off that Desperado.
Nice to see the Bill Evans planes again. I came across a Simitar article and had to build one. I had a great conversation with him and he sent me a couple cores. I only had a 4 channel radio so I had to build a mixer myself. I even built his largest one and made it into a bomber. My favorite was the .40 sized plane. My club was amazed how well it flew in both no wind and VERY high wind. I still have the wing from that one. Someday I'll make an electric. Great trip down memory lane! Thank you!
@WildBobsRC HI Bob, Yes it really scoots. Jeff and I flew it again yesterday and I leaned it out even more. It is exhilarating to fly and is fun to have a plane that can penetrate wind for landings. Thanks for getting me the deal on this engine. It is a good one as all OS engines usually are.
@UtRadioGuy Your right, It takes so long to charge batteries for 1 or 2 flights. I just keep gassing this one up and flying. There is a certain beauty to that for sure and for staying true.
@vanepico Yes, check the link in the description box for Eureka Aircraft. You can get the pre cut foam wing cores and such from them. You would love the Xwing. Thanks.
@NightFlyyer When I click on the link for the x wing on the rcm website (#781) it links me to the pole star plan(#1088), do they share the plans or something? unfortunately I live in the UK and I don't think ordering a kit from the US would be cheap :s getting a plan should be cheap enough and my dad made a hot wire cutter so I may just give it a go!
Dave if I were younger I would love to have you as my Crazy Uncle! Blue Skies to you! You are an inspiration to many.

It was men like this that pushed the boundry of modeling.
What flyes as a model plane my not fly as a real aircraft ,that's what is so great about the modeling hobby.

Met Bill over at his house in the Valley, Socal, LA, area, and what a real nice guy.
Myself and a couple of other club members where called NUTSO'S. as we were
flying the fastest planes around for the time. With the exception of the pulse jets.
Still have the Desperato 40 and Desperato 3000. With anhedral wings, ahead of
Star Wars for the time.... HA......Tnx for the memories Dave...........
