  • what reps and sets do u do? how many muscle groups do u work on each time you are training?

  • This just in...Scooby1962 is against taking supplements.

    You can stop asking now.

  • hello im the same person i was wondering what are your ideas with power-aid and other sports drink are they good to drink or is that a no,no?

  • I dont believe in any of those expensive electrolyte replacement beverages unless you are into extreme sports (triathlons, marathons, etc). Plain water is what I prefer.

  • do u take protein?

  • probably against creatine aren't you :P ?

  • ok im a big person im trying to lose weight i do 3 hrs of football every week day and nothing on the weekends and as far as diet gose how much of what should i eat im 5'11 and weight about 200lb maybe a lil more

  • u got all the stuff already man i got nothing only a benchpress ...lol

  • got another question scooby lol if you dont mind :) is it possible to do all this training without using any protein shakes just rely on your good diet? cheers mate

  • hey that a good video , i think it really help a lot

  • your supplement part on your website has really helped cheers what protein shakes would you recomend?

  • scooby do you take any supplements like protein shakes or do you just rely on the protein in your diet?

  • I'm totally against all supplements, check out my website under Nutrition>Supplements to see why

  • are you a natural bodybuilder??

  • Define natural. It means different things to different people. The one thing I use is dairy whey but its because I'm a 90% vegetarian.

  • hey scooby. first off love your vids. your my inspiration. anyways, ive been doing this excersise for about 2 weeks, and it seems too easy, i think im doing something wrong, im up to 30 lbs with no problems. i have my elbows pinned in the right position and everything. ive only been weight training for a few months now and im seeing fantastic results.

  • my video is very short but shows alot

  • scooby your videos helped me alot...check out my video to see the results I got from your help

  • Great physique! You have a better body than I did after 3 years of working out.

  • hey scooby your videos are awsome!

they are really helping me in my daily workouts :)

    amazing shape btw!

  • scooby u r amazin , thanks for you vids i can workout n gain strenght

    thanks m8

  • hey scooby is there any way to increase my wrist size i do forearm workouts to help and maybe grow it overall but is there a way to make my wrists bigger?

  • would like to know too

  • How?

    You cant stimulate bone-growth!

  • JK13031987 got it right, there is now way to make bones grow. Why do you want a bigger wrist anyway, small wrists are an advantage because it makes your forearm and biceps look bigger :)

There are no muscles on the outside of the wrist that you can workout to make the wrist bigger, that goes for the elbow and knee also.

  • scooby your a genius!!! your videos and advice are great and good motivation for us beginners..... thanks dude

  • scooby answer my question ..........is it true that if u masturbate after u workout it will actually increase body or muscle size ?.........thnx in advance.

  • check out my website under Myths>Masturbation

  • why is this marked spam???

  • Not sure what you are referring to but in general when people post comments that have nothing to do with my videos but only serve as an advertisement for something else, I mark them as SPAM.

  • Hey Scooby,

I remember seeing one of your videos on how to workout biceps, specifically a technique to make them wider to the sides. Can you point me to the right direction on to which video it is?

  • how old are u ? man

  • why my bicep get small after i jackoff ?

  • Overtraining? (haha)

  • no im not playing =P

  • Thats a myth, it wont have any effect + or - on your bicep size.

  • Thanks havoc2055 for your vote of confidence, want to be my agent :) IMHO, you cant target lower pecs - I get beat up every time for saying that but thats my personal experience. All you can do is make the whole muscle bigger and let gravity do the rest.

  • hey wat is good.. sorry to bother u again but i have an other question.... i started working out on saturday just my arms and shoulders and chest... the thinf is that the first two days my arms hurts and now when i do the work out it dosnt hurt... i think the work out is not working no more cuz i think when the parts u are working out hurts it is leeting u know trhat the work out is working... sorry my english is no good lol thnks for you help..

  • thks

  • hey nice job... i just wanna ask a question... how can i gain weight fast lol and what home workout may i do to get my upper body in shape.. thx

  • Hey DembowFlow. Sorry, nothing about bodybuilding is fast and those wanting quick results are disappointed and quit. The only way to gain muscle fast would be to use illegal substances (contact Barry Bonds). Check out my website for workout plans.

  • look hes talking without moving his mouth. Amazing

  • do you use any anabolics or is this just natural?

  • Hey 1888Scott, I consider it a compliment that you even ask that question :) It has taken me 25 years of bodybuilding working out 5 days a week to build what body I have, if I were using anabolics I would demand my money back!

  • its paid of dude, keep up the good work

  • to hell with steroids, these videos are making me sore, thanks for your body building tips

  • Hey juanfan33, sore is good! My motto is "No Sore, No Gain", not as catchy as Arnold's "No Pain, No Gain" but my motto doesnt inspire people to use horrible form and get injured.

  • yeah thats good, we warriors must have a little discomfort to get to what we want, "In the warriors code theres no surrender, Though his body says stop, his spirit cries NEVER!!!" Survivor - Burning Heart

  • Scooby,

    Do you recommend creotine?

  • nah i reckon roids like diabonol and stanozolol

  • Hey juanplomeli, I dont recommend any supplements at all. Supplements are completely unregulated. I could make a batch of caffein/aspirin/chalk in my bathtub, bottle it, and sell it as a muscle-gainer. As long as I dont make health claims its perfectly legal under current laws.

  • Hey havoc2055. Protein sources - sorry, there is no best and cheapest. You can have best or you can have cheapest. Cheapest is pinto beans which cost $0.17 for 30g of protein. 'Best' is open to debate, I have my favorite but I wont be so presumptuous as to claim its the best. Check out the nutrition>ProteinSources section of my website.

  • Can you do these standing up?

  • Yeah he said keep elbows pinned at your side though ;)

  • I was doing dumbell curles and got a sharp pain in my wrist around my veins... is that normal or was i pushing it too far?

  • Hey Allenzo04, joint pain is never normal! If your joints hurt when doing any exercise - STOP! Try different hand positions till you find one that does not hurt your wrist.

  • UGH ugly....

  • lol...well the GNC proteine its cheap and not to bad, ahh and the meat doesnt give you all the animoacids that the shakes have...i recomend Myo Pro (cheap, really good and taste good 2)

  • AMINO ACID

  • Thanks for your videos. This reverse curl is excellent for training the forearm extensors, but what's your recommendation for training the flexors? I've tried using an E-Z bar, standing and putting the bar behind myself while flexing my forearm, but this exercise is extremely uncomfortable as the extensors are maximally extended during flexion, making it very hard to grip the bar firmly.

  • I dont believe in supplements at all, unless you consider protein powders a supplement. Check out the "supplements" section of my website for a complete rant on supplements. :)

  • I am against sups myself. What is wrong with eating food?

  • Scooby, you might want to check bodybuilding(dot)com. It's a sweet site, with a lot of good articles on exercises, form, training methods, nutrition, and it sells cheap supps too.

  • Hey EncryptedSoldier, there are some good articles at bodybuildingDotCom but I actually like ABCbodybuildingDotComs articles better. ABC has a more clinical bent that I prefer.

  • I'm going to be out of touch the next month so feel free to post comments but I wont be replying to anything till around July 16.

  • that was sooooo cool w/ the ripping of the sleeve

  • Sounds like you flexed so hard you popped the arm at 0:16 - 0:17 ! Pretty impressive tho rippin the shirt like that.

  • What is the benefit to doing the reps slowly?

Does it give Stronger Muscles , Bigger Muscles, or BOTH?

  • IMHO doing them slow and controlled maximizes gains and minimizes injuries. If you do these by jerking, swinging or bouncing you are working muscles other than the targeted ones. Lifting weights heavier than you can move with good form only serves to impress others, it does you no good.

  • you must go buy small shirts so you can Flex and rip them. hahah

Also, will doing the reps very slowly like you do increase strength faster, then doing like 20 fast ones?

  • What was that sound at 0:16 - 0:17 when you were flexing your arm? I saw you poppin the shirt right off but dang, that pop sounded like a painful one. I wonder why people bash slow form quite often, they say its not effective and such. But i see that doing them slow actually seems more challenging than doing them fast, and that i can concentrate on the muscle more too. Have you ever worked out fast, like Ronnie Coleman fast?

  • Hey Scooby. I think your videos are the best for form compated to anything that I've seen on youtube. Hope to see more videos! I was wondering what your range for "time under tension" is for sets (i.e., the duration of time for a set that the muscle is being worked). Thanks alot.

  • Thanks WorldMan! I have a much longer "time under tension" than most people who work out because I believe in using really slow reps regardless of the weight I am pushing. For high weight 4 rep set maybe 24 seconds, for my usual set probably 48 seconds.

  • hey scooby,i wanted to know which exercise is best for chest expansion? what should some1 do if he wanted to expand chest size rather then pumping outwards..plz reply..thanx

  • Check out my website for chest exercises. Many mags talk about ribcabe expansion exercises, personally I dont believe that you can do this.

  • hei scooby1961 I send you 1 Email with 2 questions (get email from your website) i will be glad if you reply to me :)

  • I get to all my emails but I'm about a week behind now, hang in there.

  • OK.Thx.I will wait!

  • I always look foward to your vids

  • Thanks, I have fun doing them. Next one is going to be the most fun, "exercise form: the good, the bad and the ugly".

  • Cool, I love how you stress the importance of correct form. A lot of people lack this nowadays. Hope I don't find out that I have bad habits =0

  • What a generous wealth of information - thank you so much

  • You're welcome!

  • How often do you work out?

  • 5-7X/week. For more information about my training than you ever wanted to know ,check out the "about me" section of my website

  • Thanks! Sorry about the crash.

  • Thanks for the latest video Scooby. Keep up the GREAT work!

  • Sure enough. I think my next project will be less boring, I want to do a "bad form gong show" where viewers get to pick out the bad form in various exercise clips

  • scooby1961 is missed some anatomy lesson!

Scooby boy do you know with pronate grip we deactivate biceps and activate brachialis and brachioradialis!

So reverse curls work NOT Biceps - they work brachialis and brachioradialis!

For brachiradialis you need to do about 1/2 of movemnt in the middle (not go to the end or to the begging)!

And again Pronate Grip less work from Biceps Brachii and increase work of Brachialis and Brachioradialis!

  • Didnt miss the lesson, missed the whole class. This proves several points. 1)If you want to be 100% sure you are doing an exercise correctly get a prescription from your doctor to see a physical therapist. 2)No matter how much you have learned about BB, there is still more to learn.

  • Excellent attitude.

  • Only a fool knows everything! I know that I dont know anything :) I want to plug the excellent scholarly articles on abcbodybuilding, the article relevant to this video is the first link on my websites "links" page.

  • BTW folks, darkwolfa has put me onto the best source of well-written bodybuilding information I have ever seen. Check out the articles at abcbodybuilding (I cant put links in posts). Not only are they well written but they include extensive references!

  • Hi Scooby,

I would imagine that you are using 10s for the sake of demonstration. What is the weight that you usually use?

  • A 50 or 60lb barbell when all the joints are pain free, otherwise I use the weight shown here.

  • Probably much less than an hour :( Other than feel really good, it might be an indicator that you have had a good workout that will promote muscle growth. My guess that muscle soreness the next day is a better indicator of that though.

  • I'm not sure if this is relevant to this video or not; but are you supposed to fully lock-out your joints while lifting weights? I've been noticing lately that my elbows and knees have been making weird cracking/popping noises when I bend them. There isn't any pain though.

Good video. The shirt ripping was pretty funny :)

  • Excellent question about locking out the joints. IMHO, full range of motion is fine as long as you use very slow deliberate form. Locking out (or hyperextension) is not a good idea because you are using a joint for a purpose it was not designed. Email me about the popping.

  • Hey Scoob, you have videos and are informitive. i was just wondering how old you have to be to do this being that I'm an adolecent.

  • IMHO 16 is about the age when its OK to start weight training, before that I would focus on sports which help develop balance and coordination - ball sports, martial arts, etc.

  • So if I get a pump does that mean my arms gonna gro?

  • Good question, no answer. My guess is that a better indication of whether you had a good workout or not is if your muscle gets sore the next day. Often I find that if I get a pump I will be sore the next day also.

  • big bicep admirer here , your teaching use , to show a short second with a very tight t-shirt.

  • lol @ 0:16 ^^

btw what's up with your plane? seen it on your website...

  • yah, though my vids were to boring. Next up is the "bad form gong show" where I present multiple choice clips and the user gets to identify the ones illustrating bad form. Havent had time to work on the plane in 2 years :(

  • good vid,but you missed a point:

DO NOT CURL YOUR WRIST TOWARDS YOURSELF!

This will add significant stress on the wrist joints and you may end up with pain or an injury, always keed your wrist straight guys(as he did in the vid) !!

  • Good point, I should have emphasized that.

  • Scooby you win again... You`ve always kindly answered my obnoxious questions, I thank you for that.

Sadly, I don`t really have some "before" "after" pics. But I can post new pic, do I send them to your inbox ?

Also, I was obese when around 13 years old. I weighted 55 kg I believe.

  • No such thing as a stupid question :)

  • Another great video, first in a while! Does this mean you're back for good now?

  • Till my computer dies again so I suppose it depends on the stability of Microsoft Vista :)

  • a pump isn't actually a sign of muscle growth, it just means that blood is trapped in your muscles. scooby, good video.

  • You are quite correct, thank you for making that clear! Growth happens slowly over weeks and months, not over a few minutes. It can be an indicator that you have given 110% though. The size increase with a 'pump' is very short lived, typically much less than an hour.

  • I'm going to try this the minute I take my shoulders off the sick list.

    Keep the videos coming!

    Sindre

  • Doing these on a preacher bench should keep the pressure completely off your shoulder but when joint injuries are involved you are 100% correct to be cautious and let it heal first.

  • Yes, you can do them standing too. It was just easier to film on the preacher bench. When you do them standing pin your elbows against your side so as to keep them motionless, this will force you to use strict form.

  • By the way, anyone out there who has been working out at home using my website as guidance please send me before and after pictures. No prizes, no contests, I just would like to have a section on my website with dated before and after photos so people can be inspired and also so they can get some realistic expectations of what they themselves can achieve working out at home. If you do use supplements ( I do not recommend it!), please make a note of that too.

  • Your website is great! I have a before pic and will try to take monthly pix from now on.

  • I cant wait to try these! Its hard to imagine that they are that different than barbell curls but you cant argue with results I guess.

  • Oh they are different, its the only arm exercise I get a pump on. I also really like them because you can get an intense workout with a really light weight.

  • Thanks, I will curb my natural tendency to use too heavy a weight.

  • thats so dam awesome seeing the t-shirt rip!!! scooby yet again another fantastic video! in a few months im going to post a vid of my transformations pics each day for few months so you can gradually see the build up :D

  • Please let me know when you do post it! Do you mind if I link to it? I want to start a "success stories" page on my website showing before and after pictures of those who have had great results.

  • definitely man :D it will be up probably by late july :D i owe my results to you

  • yeah scooby i have some pics of me to i'll get them when i can

  • success stories?

OK, let me compare your exgirlfriend and your new girlfriend pix. What else is success?
