I dont believe in any of those expensive electrolyte replacement beverages unless you are into extreme sports (triathlons, marathons, etc). Plain water is what I prefer.
ok im a big person im trying to lose weight i do 3 hrs of football every week day and nothing on the weekends and as far as diet gose how much of what should i eat im 5'11 and weight about 200lb maybe a lil more
got another question scooby lol if you dont mind :) is it possible to do all this training without using any protein shakes just rely on your good diet? cheers mate
hey scooby. first off love your vids. your my inspiration. anyways, ive been doing this excersise for about 2 weeks, and it seems too easy, i think im doing something wrong, im up to 30 lbs with no problems. i have my elbows pinned in the right position and everything. ive only been weight training for a few months now and im seeing fantastic results.
hey scooby is there any way to increase my wrist size i do forearm workouts to help and maybe grow it overall but is there a way to make my wrists bigger?
JK13031987 got it right, there is now way to make bones grow. Why do you want a bigger wrist anyway, small wrists are an advantage because it makes your forearm and biceps look bigger :)
There are no muscles on the outside of the wrist that you can workout to make the wrist bigger, that goes for the elbow and knee also.
scooby answer my question ..........is it true that if u masturbate after u workout it will actually increase body or muscle size ?.........thnx in advance.
Not sure what you are referring to but in general when people post comments that have nothing to do with my videos but only serve as an advertisement for something else, I mark them as SPAM.
I remember seeing one of your videos on how to workout biceps, specifically a technique to make them wider to the sides. Can you point me to the right direction on to which video it is?
Thanks havoc2055 for your vote of confidence, want to be my agent :) IMHO, you cant target lower pecs - I get beat up every time for saying that but thats my personal experience. All you can do is make the whole muscle bigger and let gravity do the rest.
hey wat is good.. sorry to bother u again but i have an other question.... i started working out on saturday just my arms and shoulders and chest... the thinf is that the first two days my arms hurts and now when i do the work out it dosnt hurt... i think the work out is not working no more cuz i think when the parts u are working out hurts it is leeting u know trhat the work out is working... sorry my english is no good lol thnks for you help..
Hey DembowFlow. Sorry, nothing about bodybuilding is fast and those wanting quick results are disappointed and quit. The only way to gain muscle fast would be to use illegal substances (contact Barry Bonds). Check out my website for workout plans.
Hey 1888Scott, I consider it a compliment that you even ask that question :) It has taken me 25 years of bodybuilding working out 5 days a week to build what body I have, if I were using anabolics I would demand my money back!
Hey juanfan33, sore is good! My motto is "No Sore, No Gain", not as catchy as Arnold's "No Pain, No Gain" but my motto doesnt inspire people to use horrible form and get injured.
yeah thats good, we warriors must have a little discomfort to get to what we want, "In the warriors code theres no surrender, Though his body says stop, his spirit cries NEVER!!!" Survivor - Burning Heart
Hey juanplomeli, I dont recommend any supplements at all. Supplements are completely unregulated. I could make a batch of caffein/aspirin/chalk in my bathtub, bottle it, and sell it as a muscle-gainer. As long as I dont make health claims its perfectly legal under current laws.
Hey havoc2055. Protein sources - sorry, there is no best and cheapest. You can have best or you can have cheapest. Cheapest is pinto beans which cost $0.17 for 30g of protein. 'Best' is open to debate, I have my favorite but I wont be so presumptuous as to claim its the best. Check out the nutrition>ProteinSources section of my website.
Hey Allenzo04, joint pain is never normal! If your joints hurt when doing any exercise - STOP! Try different hand positions till you find one that does not hurt your wrist.
lol...well the GNC proteine its cheap and not to bad, ahh and the meat doesnt give you all the animoacids that the shakes have...i recomend Myo Pro (cheap, really good and taste good 2)
Thanks for your videos. This reverse curl is excellent for training the forearm extensors, but what's your recommendation for training the flexors? I've tried using an E-Z bar, standing and putting the bar behind myself while flexing my forearm, but this exercise is extremely uncomfortable as the extensors are maximally extended during flexion, making it very hard to grip the bar firmly.
I dont believe in supplements at all, unless you consider protein powders a supplement. Check out the "supplements" section of my website for a complete rant on supplements. :)
Scooby, you might want to check bodybuilding(dot)com. It's a sweet site, with a lot of good articles on exercises, form, training methods, nutrition, and it sells cheap supps too.
Hey EncryptedSoldier, there are some good articles at bodybuildingDotCom but I actually like ABCbodybuildingDotComs articles better. ABC has a more clinical bent that I prefer.
IMHO doing them slow and controlled maximizes gains and minimizes injuries. If you do these by jerking, swinging or bouncing you are working muscles other than the targeted ones. Lifting weights heavier than you can move with good form only serves to impress others, it does you no good.
What was that sound at 0:16 - 0:17 when you were flexing your arm? I saw you poppin the shirt right off but dang, that pop sounded like a painful one. I wonder why people bash slow form quite often, they say its not effective and such. But i see that doing them slow actually seems more challenging than doing them fast, and that i can concentrate on the muscle more too. Have you ever worked out fast, like Ronnie Coleman fast?
Hey Scooby. I think your videos are the best for form compated to anything that I've seen on youtube. Hope to see more videos! I was wondering what your range for "time under tension" is for sets (i.e., the duration of time for a set that the muscle is being worked). Thanks alot.
Thanks WorldMan! I have a much longer "time under tension" than most people who work out because I believe in using really slow reps regardless of the weight I am pushing. For high weight 4 rep set maybe 24 seconds, for my usual set probably 48 seconds.
hey scooby,i wanted to know which exercise is best for chest expansion? what should some1 do if he wanted to expand chest size rather then pumping outwards..plz reply..thanx
Sure enough. I think my next project will be less boring, I want to do a "bad form gong show" where viewers get to pick out the bad form in various exercise clips
Didnt miss the lesson, missed the whole class. This proves several points. 1)If you want to be 100% sure you are doing an exercise correctly get a prescription from your doctor to see a physical therapist. 2)No matter how much you have learned about BB, there is still more to learn.
Only a fool knows everything! I know that I dont know anything :) I want to plug the excellent scholarly articles on abcbodybuilding, the article relevant to this video is the first link on my websites "links" page.
BTW folks, darkwolfa has put me onto the best source of well-written bodybuilding information I have ever seen. Check out the articles at abcbodybuilding (I cant put links in posts). Not only are they well written but they include extensive references!
Probably much less than an hour :( Other than feel really good, it might be an indicator that you have had a good workout that will promote muscle growth. My guess that muscle soreness the next day is a better indicator of that though.
I'm not sure if this is relevant to this video or not; but are you supposed to fully lock-out your joints while lifting weights? I've been noticing lately that my elbows and knees have been making weird cracking/popping noises when I bend them. There isn't any pain though.
Excellent question about locking out the joints. IMHO, full range of motion is fine as long as you use very slow deliberate form. Locking out (or hyperextension) is not a good idea because you are using a joint for a purpose it was not designed. Email me about the popping.
IMHO 16 is about the age when its OK to start weight training, before that I would focus on sports which help develop balance and coordination - ball sports, martial arts, etc.
Good question, no answer. My guess is that a better indication of whether you had a good workout or not is if your muscle gets sore the next day. Often I find that if I get a pump I will be sore the next day also.
yah, though my vids were to boring. Next up is the "bad form gong show" where I present multiple choice clips and the user gets to identify the ones illustrating bad form. Havent had time to work on the plane in 2 years :(
This will add significant stress on the wrist joints and you may end up with pain or an injury, always keed your wrist straight guys(as he did in the vid) !!
You are quite correct, thank you for making that clear! Growth happens slowly over weeks and months, not over a few minutes. It can be an indicator that you have given 110% though. The size increase with a 'pump' is very short lived, typically much less than an hour.
Doing these on a preacher bench should keep the pressure completely off your shoulder but when joint injuries are involved you are 100% correct to be cautious and let it heal first.
Yes, you can do them standing too. It was just easier to film on the preacher bench. When you do them standing pin your elbows against your side so as to keep them motionless, this will force you to use strict form.
By the way, anyone out there who has been working out at home using my website as guidance please send me before and after pictures. No prizes, no contests, I just would like to have a section on my website with dated before and after photos so people can be inspired and also so they can get some realistic expectations of what they themselves can achieve working out at home. Oh they are different, its the only arm exercise I get a pump on. I also really like them because you can get an intense workout with a really light weight.
thats so dam awesome seeing the t-shirt rip!!! scooby yet again another fantastic video! in a few months im going to post a vid of my transformations pics each day for few months so you can gradually see the build up :D
Please let me know when you do post it! Do you mind if I link to it? I want to start a "success stories" page on my website showing before and after pictures of those who have had great results.

What is the benefit to doing the reps slowly?
Does it give Stronger Muscles , Bigger Muscles, or BOTH?
zebs3619 4 years ago
IMHO doing them slow and controlled maximizes gains and minimizes injuries. If you do these by jerking, swinging or bouncing you are working muscles other than the targeted ones. Lifting weights heavier than you can move with good form only serves to impress others, it does you no good.
scooby1961 4 years ago
you must go buy small shirts so you can Flex and rip them. hahah

scooby1961 is missed some anatomy lesson!
Scooby boy do you know with pronate grip we deactivate biceps and activate brachialis and brachioradialis!
So reverse curls work NOT Biceps - they work brachialis and brachioradialis!
For brachiradialis you need to do about 1/2 of movemnt in the middle (not go to the end or to the begging)!
And again Pronate Grip less work from Biceps Brachii and increase work of Brachialis and Brachioradialis!
darkwolfa 4 years ago
Didnt miss the lesson, missed the whole class. This proves several points. 1)If you want to be 100% sure you are doing an exercise correctly get a prescription from your doctor to see a physical therapist. 2)No matter how much you have learned about BB, there is still more to learn.

Hi Scooby,
I would imagine that you are using 10s for the sake of demonstration. What is the weight that you usually use?
yy0y0 4 years ago
A 50 or 60lb barbell when all the joints are pain free, otherwise I use the weight shown here.
scooby1961 4 years ago
Probably much less than an hour :( Other than feel really good, it might be an indicator that you have had a good workout that will promote muscle growth. My guess that muscle soreness the next day is a better indicator of that though.
scooby1961 4 years ago
I'm not sure if this is relevant to this video or not; but are you supposed to fully lock-out your joints while lifting weights? I've been noticing lately that my elbows and knees have been making weird cracking/popping noises when I bend them. There isn't any pain though.
Good video. The shirt ripping was pretty funny :)
Erdbeerbowle 4 years ago
Excellent question about locking out the joints. IMHO, full range of motion is fine as long as you use very slow deliberate form. Locking out (or hyperextension) is not a good idea because you are using a joint for a purpose it was not designed. Email me about the popping.
