This is my first time hearing this concerto so when I searched on Youtube I wanted to pick a good violinist for my first impression and was excited to find Heifetz's recording. I'm glad I did!

That cadenza is just SO well played. That slow acceleration back to normal tempo at the end was a masterstroke. Exquisite phrasing, beautiful tonal color and emotion. That last part of the first movement from 3:29, man what a change in the mood, what incredible intensity! it's beautiful!

But the recording has dimmed the orchestra's huge sound spectrum.

he first perfromed this whn he was 6 ,thn the famous leo auer taught him, which is now a rarely taught bowgrip to transfer the weight in a certain way to give a special tone tht almost on one knos bout anymore...heifetz taught my father who taught me the auer grip...u ppl should ask ur teachers bout the grip its very special in a way =] great playing too!!! =]
