I always thought the Animals were super cool since the 60's. When most other bands were singing syrupy love sings the Animals were singing about hard times, dead end jobs, brothels and love gone bad. The Stones acted tough and the Beatles were repackaged as nice boys but Eric Burdon refused to change his style. He was a rocker at a time when mods were everywhere.

He def sang the lyrics wrong here but then there seems to be a 'skip' of sorts - either that or the band did a fantastic job of recovering and getting back on the beat.
