Good question! There are more reasons than I can describe here. Most important is our dedication to the support of fecundity and diversity. The meadow is only 1/4 acre. Livestock would have the reverse effect (for several reasons). The area is now terraced with 60 cubic yards of mushroom compost ("Black Gold") and seeded in cover crops and fruit trees. Also, fencing would limit wildlife access and be expensive if we don't use the stock for meat and milk. We're in town and it is illegal.

why not have a few animals grazing that meadow? more fertilizer!
