"Yes, considerably" longer. I just watched this extra footage version and I like it better then the faster version I saw. I understand it makes sense to speed up the movie to get to the action parts but remember that's what made the old Bond films good. There was alot of talk in the old Bond films and practically none for Quantum Of Solace, in which I didn't like it so much. It seems like alot of people didn't like QOS Hopefully, the third is better then CR, can't wait.
@dannyrockmgs He's not a murderer, he's a killer. That being said, they tried to make it more violent. The idea is that Bond is a young, naive, and brutal man at this stage. He later evolves into the older, more mature, and smarter man later. Right now, he's young, fast, and strong and thus he acts before thinking; this leads to the predicaments he gets into. In later movies, he becomes less fast, less strong, etc. and thus he fights with his brain. He's always been a killer/assassin, though.
I think it is a shame they cut the intro from this, but I guess I can see why they did it, the actual movie intro was still brilliant.
I remember thinking ''wow'' when I first saw this, it really brought the series back down to earth after the invisible cars and lasers from space of the last film.
However in my opinion the film peaked after the intro, I think it is a shame because the intro gave me high hopes and the rest was really underwhelming.
This is interesting (I love Dryden's "cricket" line) but I see why they cut it. The extra footage isn't necessary.
Pakistan seems awfully civilized here. Do they really play cricket there? And it seems, these days, that anyone who isn't clearly from the Mid-East would stick out like a sore thumb and have everyone on alert.
It's Soccer and American Football all rolled into one and hyped up a million fold.
Pakistan is about 3rd in the world rankings of cricket - behind England and Australia.
Indeed - the Pakistani cricket team is the most dishonest national team on earth - a disgrace to their country. Nearly half the team were identified as being involved in in-play betting scandals last year.
@jksonny You must remember that Pakistan was once part of "British India" (pre-1947) the "upper echelons" on Pakistani society are, if not "pro-British", then at least Anglophile in their outlook.
You only have to look at the number of Pakistani military officers trained in the UK, the number of Pakistanis attending our private schools and top universities or the style of the Army uniforms (see "Charlie Wilson's War) to understand this.
Not a good spy if he has to resort to prolonged physical violence with the target.
The best killers are the ones you don't see coming, and leave without a trace. Don't you think that with all that yelling and gunshots in the toilets, there'll be bystanders watching that fight, and recording it on their smartphones- to be uploaded later on Youtube with the title, "white man kills native in Pakistani toilet." Or won't it just alert security?
@AcctNo4 I know what you mean but that's all just part of the suspension of disbelief that you need to enjoy Bond. He wastes a lot of time, let's people get to close and, even though he's a spy, everybody seems to know who he is even when he's undercover. I used to hate Bond for those reasons, now for some reason I love it.
@kinglynx He means that it takes two kills on an agent's record, in order for him or her to carry the requirements to be promoted to a double-0 rank within MI6.
Pretty cool but the original cut was more effect full. This version built up to the fight, while in the movie it just cut to it and took me completely off guard!
Quantum like a lot of films suffered because of the writers strike, so I don't really blame it for being a little below par, I am sure the next will be great, however as an opening scene this was epic with or without the six to short mid off. haha
I have mixed feelings about this scene. +) Oh, so that's why the two are fighting in a random bathroom, -) It's too early in the movie to switch to a different scene, especially since Casino Royale was a reboot, and thus the "first" Bond movie.
Right, looking at this i now remember the scene. but there is one scene ive thought about. maybe ive just imagined this in my head or something cause it wouldnt make any sence if was in the movie, but i remember the scene where bond chooses code, and when you later see lee chiffre write his code, it says "taken" or something like that...
It was good to see this but I prefer the theatrical version of the scene more. That version was more straight to the point. Still in my top five favorite Bond opening scenes.
@vipjan12 Yep, Putin is one rock-hard guy! Imagine Daniel Craig's Bond and Putin when he was in the KGB working together to take out an Al-Qaeda cell! Imagine the cell commander's face when he finds out who's after him?!
youngreza - I don't have time to read through all the comments (in case you've already answered this question) but where did you obtain the deleted scene from? Is it part of a "special edition" of "Casino Royale?" I love it. I have a copy of the script and this opening follows the script along nicely.
@thebeatl3sr0ck, @alan57137, ..It's an excellent opening, but probably third to Brosnan's opening scenes for Goldeneye and Tomorrow Never Dies.
Thing is, Casino Royal not only has this great opening with Bond's 00 status described and the now classic "Yes, considerably" line, but it has one of, maybe the best introductions of his name at the end in response to the question over the cell phone.
Bond 23 will be released 2012 just in time for it's 50 anniversary .Too bad Martin Campbell is not going to direct it.He is an excellent action director : Goldeneye and Casino Royale, two of the best Bond films of the series.
i remember when i first saw this, i had trouble identifying it with what i loved about bond. now, however, i love it. it keeps me on the edge of my seat wondering how it will different than the same stale bond we've been watching for years. it was even better when they 'ended' Solace with the opening gun barrel sequence.
@bobeagle007 I would say that he comes in at a close second. All I can say is that you can't beat the original (Sean Connery). Pierce wasn't too bad, and I'm leaving out George Lazenby and Timothy Dalton because they didn't really get a chance to "break into" their roles. Roger Moore overstayed his welcome.
@soldiergirl84 I've read all of the original Fleming books and Sean is the nearest to the original character.I thought Georges film was pretty good and Goldeneye was Pierces best.Live and Let Die was Rogers best .Yes Roger kinda dumb down the role a bit,I guess it was due to the feelings at the time, the 1970's had bad clothes and hair and everything had to have humour.Rogers name always gives me a chuckle cause in the UK to"Roger" means to have sex so Roger Moore sounds like having lots of sex!
This is NOT Bond's first or second "kill..." This is a depiction of Bond's first and second successful missions, involving conclusions of killing unique targets.
Glad they took the cricket bit out. I don't think it adds much, other than knowing the kill took place in Pakistan, and it slows down the scene.
One other thing: When Bond shoots Dryden, he (Drydyen) falls over backwards. As he does, there is an extremely fast shot of a photo. Who was in the photo? Dryden and his family? And why do they make a point of showing it?
nope, I still dont get the scene. Even with the explanations!! Is it to do with the magazine for the gun being empty? "Yes considerably" meaning his gun is lighter?!
@apekillssnake What it means is that the first kill Bond got was very messy and took him a long time to finally get the kill. When Dryden starts to explain that the second kill will be easier for Bond after your very first kill, Bond shoots him in mid sentence. Then Bond says "yes, considerably" which means that yes Dryden you were right, the second kill is "considerably" easier.
@Yonkers444 So Dryden was going to say "well you know what they say about the first kill...when you kill someone it is very messy and will take a long time but if you just use a gun next time, straight away it will be quicker" and Bond says "Yes considerable" meaning it really was faster before he would let him say the line to show him how quick it was! I get it now..! Many Thanks.
@apekillssnake What is shows was that Bond was very uncomfortable with his first kill. Bond lost his gun from the start of the fight and had to rely on hand combat. The fight was all over the place as he crashed through walls. Bond was just doing anything possible to kill that guy and his whole plan was spontaneous at that point. His second kill Bond had everything in place. He had the bad guys ammo, and he had a gun ready to shoot Dryden. That was why the second kill was "considerably" easier
@Yonkers444 So had he removed the ammo from the first guys gun then or not? Getting back to my original comment about the meaning of the second kill, the gun being considerably lighter?
@apekillssnake The actual gun with or without ammo does not matter with the expression considerably. It was just that Dryden's contact died in the bathroom. Then he makes a comment saying that the first kill is always the hardest (regardless of how you did it) and then he reassures Bond that the second kill will be easier. However Bond shoots him in mid sentence and then agrees by saying "Yes, Considerably". It has nothing to do with the weight of the gun, just how fast the second kill took
@Yonkers444 bless your cotton socks. I left the comment because it was laughable that anyone could not understand what was meant by this, the top comments were a joke. I was just fucking-wid-ya, but you are a good sport and must be a real Bond Fan. You got the shortest way to explain it in the end. It is hard to kill someone if you have never done it before, but the second, third time it becomes easier. Bond agrees with him by killing him. You also got an adult lesson here about not being Green
@Yonkers444 Yeh, you got a little bit punked, but it happens if you are too trusting in life! Why yonkers is it like yaw-zers? Have you noticed in Quantum of Solace when Mr. White is being interogated that when Bond drinks the Brandy and speaks to 'M' that his blue colars on his shirt keep changing outside of his suit jacket. It shows how many takes they did for just that one little bit on set. Editing and camera angles. Ape.
@apekillssnake No i did not notice that, but i did notice that Bond is not wearing his three piece suit that he had at the end of the Casino Royale which bugged me because I work on film sets and always have to watch for continuity errors. Also the name Yonkers is because that was where I was born. Yonkers, NY
@Yonkers444 Yeh! (laughing) well dont take your work home with you is key then I think. Yonks means ages in the UK. One of my old friends works on film sets. I've not spoke to him for Yonks. NY is a cool place, only went for the weekend. Got a cool picture of me standing next to the SR-71 Blackbird like in "I am Legend" it rocks!! Were not allowed to play Golf off of it unfortunately though!!
As a 90's child, i grew up watching Pierce Brosan Bond movies. I think he was definitely a good Bond but my favorite is easily Daniel Craig. He has a assertive and tough demeanor that Timothy Dalton had, but expands on it by being more physical in dispatching hid foes and doesn't fucking rely on gadgets to help him if the mission gets to hard.
Why'd they cut the cricket part out? That added to the whole thing nicely. it shows Bond stalking the contact. I especially like the look Bond gave him as Bond calmly entered the door and the guy turns and looks at him while frantically running up the stairs (2:21). The look said clearly, "Go ahead, dead man. Run. Try to hide".
"So I was sitting in the stands watching a swell cricket match when some british fellow starts following me. He even follows me to the bathroom. As i wash my hands the odd fellow shoves my head into running sink and forcibly drowns me.
Whats worst they didnt even put the full event into the movie. Not a good day at all..."
To reach double 00 status you need 2 kills on your file, his file showed no kills!! But what he didn't realize until Bond told him that he already killed his contact!! Which makes the 2nd kill easier!!
Craig may not be my favourite Bond, but he is the closest to Flemming's. The lack of swarthy humour, the ruthlessness , especially in Quantum where he is killing without emotion - completely switched off .
God, this is beautiful. I think if they tweaked the fight intro a little bit and included all of the fight scene, it would have felt a lot more real and brutal. You actually get to see Fisher being choked and drowned in this, makes it feel a lot more lifelike.
@Nineteen1900Hundred The kickass actions scenes were some of the best in the series, moron. Your probably a Brosnan fan aren't you! Well go hump your own leg
I hate Brosnan as Bond. I'm sorry but the action scenes in Quantum were very badly put together. And it wasn't helped by the fact that they were all hand-held, shaky cam shots. But action doesn't matter if the story is shit. And the story of Quantum was also quite terrible.
Who will take over when Craig dumps the Bond part. I heard that Andy Whitfield has a few fans shouting for the cause...Guess it's up to the film makers.
@Butchuk2007 I have to ask, what's with all the talk of Daniel Craig's replacement already? Pierce Brosnan was Bond til 52 or so. Craig is in his early 40's, you'd think he'd had til the end of the decade before his replacement became relevant.
Personally, I really enjoyed him in Casino Royale, I hope he stays on board for at least a few more years.
I understand why it was cut.
It looks like a repetition of the first pursuit in the film

This is NOT Bond's first or second "kill..." This is a depiction of Bond's first and second successful missions, involving conclusions of killing unique targets.
AllGhostwritten 9 months ago
@AllGhostwritten Yes, he DID mean his "kill".
TheWaterPokemon 9 months ago
@AllGhostwritten "Your file says 0 kills..." Yes. These were his first two kills as an MI:5 agent.

Hello, this is a good notion, but it's certainly not perfect. A Few Things I uncovered which works even much better is in roulettecash!org.
accurateaffecti 9 months ago
Glad they took the cricket bit out. I don't think it adds much, other than knowing the kill took place in Pakistan, and it slows down the scene.
One other thing: When Bond shoots Dryden, he (Drydyen) falls over backwards. As he does, there is an extremely fast shot of a photo. Who was in the photo? Dryden and his family? And why do they make a point of showing it?
JimJava007 9 months ago
nope, I still dont get the scene. Even with the explanations!! Is it to do with the magazine for the gun being empty? "Yes considerably" meaning his gun is lighter?!
apekillssnake 9 months ago
@apekillssnake What it means is that the first kill Bond got was very messy and took him a long time to finally get the kill. When Dryden starts to explain that the second kill will be easier for Bond after your very first kill, Bond shoots him in mid sentence. Then Bond says "yes, considerably" which means that yes Dryden you were right, the second kill is "considerably" easier.
Yonkers444 9 months ago
@Yonkers444 So Dryden was going to say "well you know what they say about the first kill...when you kill someone it is very messy and will take a long time but if you just use a gun next time, straight away it will be quicker" and Bond says "Yes considerable" meaning it really was faster before he would let him say the line to show him how quick it was! I get it now..! Many Thanks.
apekillssnake 9 months ago
@apekillssnake What is shows was that Bond was very uncomfortable with his first kill. Bond lost his gun from the start of the fight and had to rely on hand combat. The fight was all over the place as he crashed through walls. Bond was just doing anything possible to kill that guy and his whole plan was spontaneous at that point. His second kill Bond had everything in place. He had the bad guys ammo, and he had a gun ready to shoot Dryden. That was why the second kill was "considerably" easier
Yonkers444 9 months ago
@Yonkers444 So had he removed the ammo from the first guys gun then or not? Getting back to my original comment about the meaning of the second kill, the gun being considerably lighter?
apekillssnake 9 months ago
@apekillssnake The actual gun with or without ammo does not matter with the expression considerably. It was just that Dryden's contact died in the bathroom. Then he makes a comment saying that the first kill is always the hardest (regardless of how you did it) and then he reassures Bond that the second kill will be easier. However Bond shoots him in mid sentence and then agrees by saying "Yes, Considerably". It has nothing to do with the weight of the gun, just how fast the second kill took
Yonkers444 9 months ago
@Yonkers444 bless your cotton socks. I left the comment because it was laughable that anyone could not understand what was meant by this, the top comments were a joke. I was just fucking-wid-ya, but you are a good sport and must be a real Bond Fan. You got the shortest way to explain it in the end. It is hard to kill someone if you have never done it before, but the second, third time it becomes easier. Bond agrees with him by killing him. You also got an adult lesson here about not being Green
apekillssnake 9 months ago
@apekillssnake That is really funny, good sport! I do the same thing on other videos too!
Yonkers444 9 months ago
@Yonkers444 Yeh, you got a little bit punked, but it happens if you are too trusting in life! Why yonkers is it like yaw-zers? Have you noticed in Quantum of Solace when Mr. White is being interogated that when Bond drinks the Brandy and speaks to 'M' that his blue colars on his shirt keep changing outside of his suit jacket. It shows how many takes they did for just that one little bit on set. Editing and camera angles. Ape.
apekillssnake 9 months ago
@apekillssnake No i did not notice that, but i did notice that Bond is not wearing his three piece suit that he had at the end of the Casino Royale which bugged me because I work on film sets and always have to watch for continuity errors. Also the name Yonkers is because that was where I was born. Yonkers, NY
Yonkers444 9 months ago

He has a assertive and tough demeanor that Timothy Dalton had, but expands on it by being more physical in dispatching hid foes and doesn't fucking rely on gadgets to help him if the mission gets to hard.

haha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i was expecting the scene to change to the bathroom, instead its cricket lol

QuickJawMcGraw 10 months ago 2
it would take at least 5 minutes to drown me.

Brilliant. Loved this film.
woodyrulesok 10 months ago
To reach double 00 status you need 2 kills on your file, his file showed no kills!! But what he didn't realize until Bond told him that he already killed his contact!! Which makes the 2nd kill easier!!
AraArsenJan 10 months ago
I'll admit I do like the extended fight scene, but the cricket thing...BOWLED :)
MrJoshuaYoYo 11 months ago
Craig may not be my favourite Bond, but he is the closest to Flemming's. The lack of swarthy humour, the ruthlessness , especially in Quantum where he is killing without emotion - completely switched off .
Heres hoping Craig does get another outing

God, this is beautiful. I think if they tweaked the fight intro a little bit and included all of the fight scene, it would have felt a lot more real and brutal. You actually get to see Fisher being choked and drowned in this, makes it feel a lot more lifelike.

Casino Royale was good, it's just a shame Quantum was a pile of absolute shit.
Let's hope the next one is a decent "real Bond" like Casino Royale again...
tjbayliss 1 year ago 26
@tjbayliss your stupid Quantum was kick ass
SlapstickCoyote 6 months ago
@SlapstickCoyote
Quantum had no style or substance whatsoever. Also the action scenes were terribly filmed.
Nineteen1900Hundred 5 months ago
@Nineteen1900Hundred The kickass actions scenes were some of the best in the series, moron. Your probably a Brosnan fan aren't you! Well go hump your own leg
SlapstickCoyote 5 months ago
@SlapstickCoyote
I hate Brosnan as Bond. I'm sorry but the action scenes in Quantum were very badly put together. And it wasn't helped by the fact that they were all hand-held, shaky cam shots. But action doesn't matter if the story is shit. And the story of Quantum was also quite terrible.
Nineteen1900Hundred 5 months ago
@Nineteen1900Hundred it was Casino Royale pt. 2...there was nothing wrong with it unless you didnt see Casino Royale to begin with
tasmLIVE 4 months ago
@SlapstickCoyote FYI: Please remember that Pierce was not in Quantum of Solace, or Casino Royale...Daniel Craig is the current Bond...

Do any of the other Bond films have the gun barrel shot (4:26) this well incorporated into the opening scene?

@xtremespeed128 absolutely not, haha. This is by far my favourite Bond film.

Who will take over when Craig dumps the Bond part. I heard that Andy Whitfield has a few fans shouting for the cause...Guess it's up to the film makers.
Best Bond film in my opinion was OHMSS.
Butchuk2007 1 year ago
@Butchuk2007 I have to ask, what's with all the talk of Daniel Craig's replacement already? Pierce Brosnan was Bond til 52 or so. Craig is in his early 40's, you'd think he'd had til the end of the decade before his replacement became relevant.
Personally, I really enjoyed him in Casino Royale, I hope he stays on board for at least a few more years.
