@equsnarnd I think it could be a number of things. Salt is a crystal. It also raises temperature. But this should be tried with fresh water as it theoretically could do the same thing as the resonance is doing the separation. As with quartz being a crystal it is used for amplification and with salt being one it may 'multiply' the process.
