I'm surprised that no one has mentioned any similarities between Gekiranger and Dairanger. It's almost the same thing that existed between Abaranger and Zyuranger.

Yeah I know, cause there is no 'L' sound in Japanese and r is the closest thing. It's just that it seems to me that a lot of the time fan sub translators just don't translate any names no matter what even if it's painfully obvious there is supposed to be an L instead of an R somewhere.

Now then, I'd like to say that mecha in Gekiranger SUCK. The gattai sequences are lame, and in fights they're really. Jan is more then a match for Maku on his own, and then Gekifire and GekiTojahWolf get owned by him when he's a giant.

One other problem that I have with Super Sentia (though I still love the franchise) is how inconsistent the powers of the characters and their mecha tend to be.

In geki, this is how all the gekirangers and Rio and Mele got stronger... The Rhino Zord(sai Daiain) awoken containing the essense of jyuken left behind by the father of Jyuken, Burusa Ii. They all were touched by it, but jan and Rio were the first two to feel the change
I'm already watching the subbed episodes for the newest series, Engine sentai-0 and it seriously rules. The fight scenes are really awesome. No doubt that when Disney comes, they'll butcher it up.

The writers did a terrific job on this series (With all the mystery, a story that treads through the entire season, with one arc leading into another leading into another, and the twist in it involving Long+Sanyo being a puppet master from well b4 the first episode, but not showing up until later, as well as some other aspects.), and the way it's done is sooo much better than any Power Rangers as well.
One thing I really like about Rio is how he is such a quiet villian, and the scenes showing him meditating in his headquarters are always so dark, while he is so quiet. He's not your typical "Hahaha" or "Arrrrgggg" character. And Long, who is the real villain is an awesome villain, with such a Happy-Go-Lucky personality. There both really cool villains.

Tv-Nihon has the subs.. except their files are in batches now instead of individuals.
The batches released are only up to Gekiranger Episode 1-18 right now.
