  • I would suggest any young person looking for somewhere to find themselves meet like minded people in a friendly supportive environment should try and go to Taize. Its in my heart every day.

  • Laudate dominum

    Omnes gentes

    Laudate eum

    Omnes, omnes populi

    Quoninam confirmata est

    Super nos misere cordia ejus

    Et veritus, veritus Domini

    Manet, manet in aeternum

    Amen, amen

  • Wrong! My brother, the original theme was composed by Jean Baptiste Lully around 1600 and it's called Follies d'espagne.Jacques Berthier sure knew the magnific senses and essence of great music but this is still a great masterpiece cover.

  • The melody is one of the oldest, perhaps the oldest, common melodies in Europe. It appears in folk and classical music, from Italy to Scandinavia. Corelli and Vivaldi, among others, worked with this theme. The harmony is not original to Berthier, but his arrangement is brilliant.

  • The most expensive part of going to TAIZE is the air fare... not sure where you are from. it is like a CAMP and VERY cheap to stay there ... but you must like to sleep on bunk beds, 6 to a room. have your bathroom outside... up the hill... which means if you are over 40 you have to get dressed to go to the bathroom at nite.... actually it's not all that fun unless you go with your own group. THE SERVICE HOWEVER IS OTHERWORLDLY!! and worth the experience.

  • i just came from taisé yesterday, that was so powerful...i want to come back over there...that was like a dream, i saw germans, english, french etc... people...thanx you jesus, i love you

  • @JesusToTheNations However I think that mr Berthier didn't invent this melody but elaborated on a very famous piece composed by Arcangelo Corelli called "La Follia"

  • @KRISTALLIKIDE but the real melody was written much earlier by Arcangelo Corelli "La follia"

  • @KRISTALLIKIDE Mozart ? ooooops ! You can buy this music writing to Editions Taizé-France but words are simple, sung ostatino "Laudate Dominum Omnes Gentes Alleluia" and music follows easily notes of chord progression.

  • I have googled this song, and the other version of "laudate dominum" comes up. Does anyone know what version this one is so I can get some accurate result?

  • @davidbauman16

as it is written: Taizé - Laudate Dominum

    written by Jacques Berthier

  • @McKaffee I think that mr Berthier just took the theme from Arcangelo Corelli's piece "La Follia". The striking similarity between the two pieces cannot be just a pure coincidence.

  • Respond to this video... I think that the real composition was written by Arcangello Corelli called "La Follia" and that mr Berthier just elaborated on the existing melody. Otherwise how can you account for the striking similarity between the two compositions?

  • wanderfoul verry good movie..........ang song of course

  • I miss everyone!

  • What version of laudate dominum is this? Who's the composer? It sounds beautiful :)

  • @sazcamper I think it is a medieval composer, this specific melody can be heard in many varieties throughout Europe. "La Folia"- with Jordi Savall, for example, it is wonderful.

  • @sazcamper check out Arcangello Corelli "La Follia"

  • Classical0note...do u have any "piece" for this song? please send me if u have..we need it for deaconate ordination

  • Our choir at church sings this, I just wish the parishioners would join us

  • They probably feel a bit uncomfortable with the Latin, do your best to warm them up to it! :)

  • @Portubed They sell them through GIA Publications in Chicago.

  • "Sing praise and bless the Lord, sing praise and bless the Lord. People's, nations, Alleluia..."

  • I love this song I used to sing it when I was young...i love it

  • Does anybody know where I can download this song and its lyrics?

  • sure (the melody)......try la folia or folias, u'll find what u're looking for

Richtung Norden.

  • This church or catherdal is not from Taize..

  • I wish I could go to Taize.

  • @lumiere1955 why can't you go to taize?

  • @sodixful I can not afford it. Just a dream.

  • Last week I visited Taizé for the first time. It was a GREAT experience. My first impression was like "this is the famous Taizé..." But two days later I was fully enjoying it.

Taizé with all it simplicity and at a time its richness makes you discover "the Essential and necessary for living". Thank you brothers of Taizé

  • What they sing in 1:26 and 2:16? I cant hear the words??? Pleas help.

  • in 1:26 the soloist sings:

Schaut her, ihr Gebeugten, schaut her, freut euch.

in 2:16 the female soloist sings:

Praise the Lord all you nations, praise him all you peoples, alleluia. Strong ist his love and mercy. God is faithful forever, alleluia.

Do you hear the words of 0:37 and 2:40? Interested? :)

  • Absolutely , and realy thanks for this lyric .

  • @McKaffee :

the words of 0:37: Lobet den Herrn, alle Völker, preist ihn, alle Nationen alle Völker!

the words of 2:40: Lodatelo con cembali sonori, lodatelo, lodatelo con cembali squilanti; ogni vivente dia lode al Signore, ogni vivente dia lode al Signore

By the way: the soloist in 1:26 it's me ;-)

  • @McKaffee from 2:40 is Lodatelo con cembali sonori, lodatelo,

    lodatelo con cembali squilanti;

ogni vivente dia lode al Signore,

ogni vivente dia lode al Signore

form 0:37 maybe is(i am not sure)Lobet den Herrn, alle Völker,

preist ihn, alle Nationen alle Völker!

Lobt ihn für seine großen Taten,

lobt ihn in seiner gewaltigen Größe

Laudate omnes gentes, laudate Dominum! Taize meeting in Vilnius is something I'll always remember.

  • I love you Taize..greeting from Indonesia

  • Greetings from Sweden! Laudate omnes gentes, laudate dominum, or as we sing in Swedish: Sjung lovsång alla länder, och prisa Herrens namn! And I would say Swedish is a major launguage as it is also [more or less] understood in all Nordic countries. Pax et bonum!

  • Love it!

  • Dear kmax1940 Yes, they speak English. It is the main language of international communication in Europe. The hymns are in the major European languages so as to include as many as possible- French, German, Italian, Spanish, Polish.

There is usually a sizable contingent from Sweden, all of whom speak English. If you haven't gone yet, Go!

  • I went to Taize three times, and I will probably go again this summer. It's a great place, I'm so thrilled every time when I'm there, it has some kind of harmony, it can't be described...

  • What language is that? Do they ever speak English?

  • Its Latin.

  • Yes it's Latin.

//: Laudate Dominum, laudate Dominum, omnes gentes, allelulia. ://

The second female soloist sings in english: Praise the Lord all you nations, praise him, all you peoples, alleluia. Strong is his love and mercy. God is faithful forever, alleluia.

  • I have also been to Taize this summer. If you will ever have the chance to visit this small but great village in France, please do, because you will have no regrets! It may change your lifes!

  • I was at Taize and at Iona, Scotland, in '06. It was one of the most spiritual experiences in my life.

  • Yes, I can say the same :o) And this one is my prefered song!

  • Yes I know. I´m still missing it. Taize is the best place for all young people who are seeking God.

  • I know what you tell - I miss it too. I was there 15 year's ago.

  • i spent there one week and | never forget it. It was the heaven on earth for me.

Tolle Aufnahme! Danke...

  • Das sehr gut!

  • Very nice hymn!

    God bless you

  • Hey Dave!

Probably it's the guitar, that you hear as a harp. As I remember, there were also two recorders, a viola, an oboe, a cello, a trombone and a trumpet. Hope, I didn't forget anything.

  • Peace is the preferred thought>love and ye shall be free...

  • I was given a beautiful taize CD from a dear

friend. I love it so much! The posts are amazing. Gather Holy Nation in Spirit-filled accord, to hail the Prince of Peace, Emanuel, our Lord! We need perpetual taize around the world.

    Peace,

There's one God for all and his name ie Yahweh!

  • GRANDIOSE

    TAIZE ... INDESCRIPTIBLE !

  • I love Taizé, it has the one of the most beautiful christian songs. God bless Taizé!

  • Kirch is the German word from which we derive the English variant of Church.

  • Hello all of you ;). I have just heard about Taize a few days ago. Could anyone please email me and tell me more about this place and whether there are any young adults congress´ being held there? Thanks for your help and God bless you all ;)

  • Soon, when some members of my school's choir get back, I'll record it. 4-voiced ((?mixed?)=males and females, he) choir, tempo a little bit higher. :p

Anyway, in my opinion Taizé is such a wonderful thing. It's great to praise the Lord with songs... I can tell so, cause I've experienced it (catholic school, hehe).

I also recommend 'Laudate omnes gentes'. Anyway, I don't know if it's accessible on youtube, but I found that song somewhere when was looking for it with google.

  • Taizé ist echt voll genial!

  • Can anyone say what text the soloists sing?

  • It completely rox! I miss it's in such a low quality, with no exact choir's singing, anyway - just rox!

  • I think its perfect quality - perfect in gods eyes :-)

  • Precioso

  • I Love Taizé!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thank you! It´s nice to go back in my memories to this experience!

  • Laudate Dominum, laudate.

It's a beautiful pray... singing

  • This is very beautiful. I participate in taize at my own church and we chant laudate dominum, but we only have about twenty people. I can only imagine how it must have felt to be there in prayer with 4000 people. Amazing. This goes in a special place in my favorites.

  • Laudate Dominum Omnes Gentes!..

Praise the Lord all you nations!..

    Alleluia!..

  • This is beautiful memory for time spend there. Thank you.

  • Laudate Dominum, Laudate Dominum

    Omnes Gentes Alleluia!!!!!!!!
