  • Amazing, I just love Flamenco....

  • 6 people don't understand what true music is....

  • es un ingles, espanol? ningun posibilidad...

  • hi,how are you. could you please send me the guitar tabs of La Feria?

do you have it on guitar pro program?

    ok

    have a nice day

    Dr.Vrej Sarkis

    Armenia

  • Whats that rumba he plays the beginning of?

  • hello everybody, i am children doctor armenian. can anybody send me the guitar pro tab of La Feria played by juan martin??

  • @sarkis305

You can order it from Mel Bay Publications

    The title name is here:

    Andalucian Suite No.1 MB21933BCD

  • i like the educational part it makes me feel richer

  • Damn, I almost cried at this...

  • para aprender flamenco os recomiendo unas clases de español, aunque si entendeis esto no creo que os hagan falta

  • I hate it when people try to slag off Juan martin. He's a brilliant flamenco player. I would like to be half as good as him.

  • @dlewzey Brilliant if playing sloppy and out of compás is your bench mark....

  • @SemiModo1 OK cool, maybe he isn't as good as say Carlos Montoya or Paco Lucia. But everyone is entitled to an opinion and if you think he plays out of compass, well that's that. But I will admit that I think highly of him.

  • wonderful piece of flamenco :)

    my favourite genre :D

  • 7:55

oh my god. sounds sooo great!

  • Fuck me you must be some guitarist if you think this guy is average!

  • @curlsters he's hardly a fraudster. just because he isn't the best flamenco guitarist in the world doesn't mean he's crap! he's a good player!

  • wow his finger in 2:18 is amazing

  • He did a workshop with Paco Del Lucia, he wasn't formally taught by him

  • Ęštė Łįñgó Dúéšt łu fíérré

  • veeeeeeeeery nice

  • I love this guy's style...self taught too

  • He was a student of Paco De Lucia i think.

  • oye todos con conde

  • I just saw Juan Martin play in a small church ( St. Andrew's) in Mission, B.C. He was such a captivating performer. I had never seen a flamenco guitarist before and I was completely mesmerized. The energy in that room was crackling. He was very interesting, as a man, too. He gave a little history of each song he performed, which engaged the audience further. He donated much of the proceeds of that concert for the Mission Folk Fest. I thought this very gracious. Loved him!

  • check these flamenco guitarists and judge for yourselves whether Guitar Magazinze's statement about Juan Martin being one of the world's top guitarists is true or false:

    1. Paco de Lucia 2. Gerardo Nunez 3. Tomatito 4. Chicuelo 5. Vicente Amigo 6. Manolo Sanlucar 7. Moraito 8. Diego del Morao 9. Nino Josele 10. Juan Requena 11. Antonio Rey 12. Paquete 13. Manuel Parilla 14. Pedro Sierra 15. Paco Fernandez 16. Jesus de Rosario 17. Jose Manuel Leon 18. Anton Jimenez 19. Canito 20. Canizares

  • @iamthemusic69

Tomatito is an excellent accompanist, but not that good a solo performer.

  • Phew... what shit is that? Tomatito is one of the great maestros just like Paco De Lucia, Habichuela, Riqueni or Manolo Sanlucar Vicente Amigo etc etc etc...

  • @GuitaristaDeFlamenco juan martin is a great rumba player and thx to people like him flamenco is so famous around the world

  • @nokerti .................Thanks to people like Paco De Lucia, Vicente Amigo, Manolo Sanlucar, Pepe Habichuela, Tomatito etc. for flamenco being recognized in outer world and the technique appreciated and valued. He is merely a tourist perfomer for people who know of nothing better and proper.

  • @GuitaristaDeFlamenco he is a advanced disciple of niño ricardo so i don't think he is merely a "tourist performer". at least he is Spanish... i don't give any chance to foreign flamenco guitar players except grisha goryachev

people like "hersoveela" here in youtube destroys flamenco's roots.

  • @GuitaristaDeFlamenco

Hello just thought I would let you know that , this gut is from brighton england

his accent is not real but he is not spanish

  • @GuitaristaDeFlamenco

Hello just thought I would let you know that , this guy is from brighton england

his accent is not real and he is not spanish

  • @ssssssssslllllllll yes, he is spanish man

  • @ssssssssslllllllll It's a year ago I know but I feel compelled to tell you your an idiot. He is Spanish

  • And for you, I agree this =) Even though Juan Martins books (atleast the 1 I have) have good base songs that u can evolve urself to a more complicated and better sounding (more Flamenco u know :D). Atleast 1 Guajira I learned from Martins book I customized it later on to a more beautiful conclusion.

  • I have this to say... Do any of you who call him a genius know when the last time was he performed or lived in Spain? How about at least 30 yrs. He is a salesman and does cheesy stuff for the non-flamenco audiences to make it seem like he is actually doing amazing things. In Spain, he would receive tomatoes. Guitar mag said that he is one of the top 3 guitarists in the world; It must be true because they said so!!! An honest/humble artist would never brag about a statement so far from the truth.

  • But you have to consider the opposite of the equation. I would've never learned any flamenco pieces were it not for his DVD's (which ARE the best and most well put together beginning Flamenco books) I understand that you have a huge obvious passion for Flamenco and therefore I believe you should celebrate the fact that he is bringing this wonderful style of music to people like myself who would have previously never discovered the joys of PLAYING flamenco guitar. Now Paco De Lucia is amazing: )

  • Cheers to that :)

  • hahaha thanks man I am loving learning this stuff. It's a challenge because while technique and accuracy is VERY crucial it's so much about the spirit of Flamenco and I am loving learning what that is and trying to embody it.

  • @iamthemusic69

I completely agree with you man.

  • Juan Martin im gonna see him tomorrow he's comin to canada SWEEEEEEEEEET

  • Help perpetuating Flamenco by playing it and introducing it to friends, the greatest music art in the world!

  • i will play flamenco in china 1day

  • I don't understand how anyone could play comfortably in a leather jacket.

  • bloody amazing from 5:40 onwards i was like :O

  • I get to see him in October on little old PEI of all places. I can't wait!

  • Well

related to critics, when Trolls learn to play guitar, record videos and show what they really knows contrary to just made empty criticism ...well, when this happens, turtles will write poems and whales will fly

  • I saw him in person in a tiny theatre in canada. I was lucky enough to get front row seats, for a meager $20 if i remember correct. He is amazing, I was mesmerized for about 3 hours and left wanting to hear more.

  • semimodo1- pricks like you try showoff thinking they know everything about flamenco - ofcourse there are loads of guitarists better than him is Spain but he loves what he's doing and he is himself which is what flamenco is all about and he's been able to make a living from it so hats off to him you jealous twat!!! cool move from juan in my opinion!! he could have ended up in mens bars in mallorca or on the street!

  • fuck off poohead. he isnt full of shit, he isnt arrogant at all in this interview, but engaging, humble and insightful, so your claim of him being full of shit is bears no weight and is really quite embaressing. the songs he has written are genius, he plays with mastery, he is wonderful to listen to. dont talk shit. enjoy the music

  • Juan martin is a genius. I love his music and I try to play it .

  • wow amazing

  • A very nice lesson from the best... Juan Martin.

  • What guitar is this? It has the same EXACT rosette in the Conde Hermanos A26, but I doubt Juan Martín would play on a $12000 guitar!!!

    What do you guys think?

  • very nice !

  • he's genius

  • Ostiaa, el presentador es el doble de Gerardo Núñez, jajaaa....

  • would it be fair to say that one should learn

    classical guitar before flamenco guitar,

or could you just dive right into flamenco?

  • nahh i think its fine to dive straight into it.. I am.. Most people in spain do dont they? Ive mainly been a metal speed influenced guitar player ( ya know like satriani metallica etc. ) and now very keen to take on this style.. just bought a admira flamenco too..:)

  • mate those eastern licks sound sexual

  • Is guitara the national instrument of Espania?

  • It was invented there, in Spain (España in Spanish). The guitar (guitarra in Spanish) is the product of centuries of evolution of the influence of predominantly 2 string instruments (vihuela and lute). If I remember correctly, in the nineteen century it got it actual final form, 6 strings 19 frets, and the actual body. Dont confuse the Classical guitar (also named Spanish Guitar) with the Acoustic guitar (steel strings, thinner neck, more narrow space between strings).

  • that main riff is gorgeous

  • You da man =P

  • FOR SURE he is one of the gods of the guitar. Moreover, he is an amazing composer, what is not so common among players; I love his compositions, especially "Mi Rumba", it is so beautiful. Furthermore, flamenco had never had a teacher such as Juan Martin. What he has done for flamenco school is priceless. If flamenco players have appeared worldwide, thanks for Juan Martin.

  • I prefer musicians playing together rather that sole maestro. Vive la musique! But spanish bullfighters, spanish dancers, spanish flamenco guitarists, and Rafael Nadal have shown me that the spanish blood certainly knows how to be the sole maestro pulling out all stops.

  • There are very few god talented flamenco guitar players in the world. I think Juan Martin is not one of them but nobody has to be talented to play flamenco. On the other hand, I know something well; JM is the best flamenco teacher.

  • Comment removed

  • Why you said nobody has to be talented to play flamenco? Do you know how many techniques are needed to play flamenco? You did not listened when he said at 0:41 that just for strumming or string strokes (rasgueados) there are about 20 different types!.

  • I'm a flamenco technique teacher in Turkey. I know how hard it is. I gave 2 months to learn rasguedos :) I have a friend there name is Murat. He was not able to play any basic chords 2 years ago. He worked regularly and he can play some difficult alegrias and bulerias songs now. I think it is 95% about working regularly to learn. May be someone learn in 2 years another in 5 or even 10.

  • The general rule is: The more you practice, the faster you learn ;-)

There are different learning capacities on each individual. Some people will take more tiem even with a lot of practice

You take a beginner studnet and teach him ALL the rasgueados in 2 months?

    Including the advanced ones?

If you know how hard is Flamenco, then why you said no one need to be to talented for playing. It is a hard style to master. Is not like pop guitar.

You play Flamenco with Nylon strings?

  • I wrote it down previous quote man at the last sentence.

When I started to learn flamenco, I had already played 7 years pop and classic. I learned rasguedos 2 months, my friend Murat learned in 7 months.

Yes no one need to be talented for playing flamenco. That is not mean that everbody can play like masters i.e. paco de lucia, gerardo nunez or tomatito etc.

These masters have been playing flamenco from 5 years-old and practice it approx. 9-10 hours per day and still they doing that.

  • Ok got it now, thank

People said rasgueo continuo is the most difficult. The one that move finger 432143214321 continuosly, I never seen a good tutorial of that in youtube. They show how to push the fingers, but not how to pull them, in a way to save movement to avoid being tired.

    Can you make one?

  • I think there is no rasguedo like 43214321. All flamenco players do it like 4321143211. Means forefinger is pushed at the end pull it back gently not hard as pushing.

    Can you see?

If you don't understand, I can make a video and put it to youtube.

  • Thanks for your help, I send you and email explainig some rasgueos.

There is a book that have the one I said, very well explained, and is a free PDF on the net, but I dont remember the name!

As soon I find it, I will tell you!!!

  • Bekomach, Flamenco is not easy to play. With out mention the arpeggio techniques, alzapua (moving up and down the thumb finger as a pick), flamenco chord tremolo (abanico), and melodic tremolo (classical tremolo) Tremolo alone are many variations. 4 strokes, 5 strokes, 12 strokes. And that is only right hand technique, we are not mentioning left hand techniques.

  • Bekomach, If you think no body has to be talemted to play flamenco, just check some of it techniques necesary to play ti. Like the different arpeggio techniques, alzapua (moving up and down the thumb finger as a pick), flamenco chord tremolo (abanico), and melodic tremolo (classical tremolo) Tremolo alone are many variations. 4 strokes, 5 strokes, 12 strokes. And that is only right hand technique, we are not mentioning left hand techniques.

  • toca mu mal perdonar yo no mé agusta en sério

  • You Are My Master.

  • He plays a Granadinas just before The Rumba.

  • I think this is the Conde Hermanos A25F. Beautiful!

  • Thanks for the lesson and education!

  • I really feel bad for VINCENT4500 I still don't know why he makes this endless effort to make himself THE MOST HATED ICON IN UTUBE? Which has made JUAN THE MOST LOVING ONE! Keep up. I doubt if he knows anything about Flamenco. Definitely he knows nothing about playing Flamenco or he would have POSTED A VIDEO to answer everybody who think just like I do. Most definitely he has no artistic mind, character discipline or ability. He just doesn't have it therefore can't act like one. JUAN IS THE MAN!

  • I dont understand why so many people attack on Youtube, and hate Juan Martin playing. -They only watch JM videos for criticize him and every time they can, write-down negative comments about him. -JM its a very good flamenco player; Yeesss, there are better flamenco players.....but, Why criticize him with that hate? -JM its a very good flamenco player and a charm person. -For that guys not like Juan Martin playing, there are a simple and effective solution: Dont watch JM videos on Youtube only.

  • I completely agree with you!!!

It's odd those that write negative comments can't play like him but still criticize

  • I think he didnt perform Laferia at its best here...I've seen him play it 'much' better...nevertheless, he is an amazing player and a great teacher!

  • Sure he makes some mistakes but to say he is a mediocre player is a ridiculous comment! Didn't Juan study with the great Nino Ricardo and Paco de Lucia. All the people that only have negative comments to make should post there own fucking videos if they think they can do better!! Respect to Juan and all the other Flamenco Greats.

  • Agree! he still a great educator (and sure play more better than me lol). Respect to Juan Martin and all the other Flamenco Greats.

  • No, I don't think its crappy at all. Certainly not the best I have heard him play (been to one of his concerts front row). Maybe a few glitches here and there but ya never know, he may be playing 'cold'

  • Thanks.I love the spirit of gypsys. They r in india too.very happy go people and love their music.

  • He doesn't have the fire of Paco Pena or Paco de Lucia, but he's no copy'est either, he's a great composer and educator, and promoter of flamenco of many years. Not easy to do that interview and then play cold, under scrutiny of that camera on what was most likely a one take.

  • he is a mediocre player, period. he performs for people who know nothing of flamenco, that way you can't tell the mistakes... this performance is repetitive, full of mistakes with frequent losses of tempo.

  • I am from India and very happy to know that the Gypsy influence like Bulerias came from India (Rajastan).

  • The Gypsises still exist in India you little bitch!! Google "Banjaras"

  • thought the music came from the Arabs??

  • this performance sounds really crappy to me and i can tell he made a shit load of mistakes!!! am i the only one to notice this? he's a good player, but not his best performance

  • i agree with you, i don´t like this performance, it seems to me like he is uncomfortable or nervous...

but still is a good video.

btw, i have a video of La Feria, hehe..

  • Oh piss off you moaning sack of shit. Go and take the dog for a walk.

  • Does any one know the name of the song he plays from 3:12 to 3:35 and where can i get tabs or notes for it

    THANK YOU!!!

  • It's Juan Martin's interpretation of the Zambra style usually called the Zambra Mora - tune the 6th string to D and the tab is availible in JM's old tab book exciting sound of flamenco - more advanced interpretations are those by Paco Pena, Manolo Sanlucar, Sabicas- not really a style u see anymore - best of luck

  • Thank you very much That helped alot!

  • you can find a great interpretation in his album "musica alhambra", the song is called " Evocación de Damasco a Córdoba".

in my opinion it is an amazing version.

  • La Feria , La feriaaaa :) when will i learn how to play u ??!!

  • What a great video, especially as an introductory piece for people not familiar with Flamenco. Wonderful stuff.

  • oleeee ese juan martin que arte!!!

  • cool video!!
