This is not proof of "god." You're all really stupid. This could be proof of something else you are all unaware of. However, this is just physics at its best. You only believe in "god" because that is what some human said thousands of years ago and you all ran with it. They could have said "I believe in a giant chair in the sky" and it would be real because everyone would believe in it. Oh look, I just turned this into a religious debate! Whoops!
Actually, this has nothing to do with sound waves. What you are observing are the modes of vibration of the plate (search wikipedia for Mode Shape). As an object vibrates, some areas move more than others. The sand is drawn to the places that aren't moving. There are often multiple frequencies at which the object will resonate. In this case, as the frequency is increased, the mode shape changes.
Still... the video is a very cool demonstration of modal vibrations!
I vaguely remember watching a documentary about this and how these shapes can be found around the World in certain religious locations etc. Great stuff. Does anyone remember the name of that documentary??
koool. now i defently believe wen the bible say God spoke the world into existence XD. The sound CREATES THINGS xD "in the beginning, there was the word" now i no wat that ment ;D
search: Chladni Plates, after Ernst Chladni. He used a violin bow to achieve some of these patterns and traveled around amazing people with them in the 1700s.
@sahiti321 The Frequency of the tone is changing, not amplitude. When this occurs on a string, "nodes" occur when the frequency is divisible by the original string length. At exactly twice as fast (2:1), you get two "sausages" not one. at 3:2, you get 3 sausages 4:1, 4. Connecting the sausages is one point of the string which does not move, aka a harmonic or partial.
In this video a plate vibrates, so the nodes occur in two dimensions. the rice is jiggled into the areas which do not move.
I was gonna say that!!!!!!!! Alien supersonic soundwaves made the crop circles. . . . . musta been too high a frequency to detect in the middle of the night
Wow, i'm high but watching this made me figure out how aliens made their interplanetary space craft! THEY MOVE USING SOUND!!! LOOK AT THAT SHIT! it looks like crop circles!!!
It's called geometry. Repeat circular objects of various sizes will yield shapes that looks like crop circles.
Travelling through space with sound would be utterly stupid however, because it's not possible to have sound in vacuum and most of space is vacuum. If it worked it would be really slow. Think about lightning, it takes three seconds for one kilometre. That's not very fast in space terms.
if aliens seen our planet they would see it as beauty and comfront us... and would have minds that are unheard of to our imagination ..... not just make stupid ass crop circles like humans do,allover planet earth.
NobleNihilist 7 months ago if aliens seen our planet they would see it as beauty and comfront us...
Beauty??? They would see this smelly little ball in the sky, and on closer inspection would see that one species is destroying the WHOLE planet while they wallow in their filth. Then they would try to reach some of the WISER souls, via symbology ie CROP CIRCLES.
@rocksmart23 I don't agree... do you know the physic of music? closer are the notes of a chord or of melody, more it is sad.... if your chord arrengement are far from eachother, it will be more happy.... mixing the two physic laws can create a melody plain of emotions :)..... how would it be possible to jump like in a rave when listenning to moonlight sonata mvt.1 anyway ^^
@rocksmart23 ... I just forgot... music is also based on mathematics.... notes are based on mathematics...like the A440(440Hz).... the next "A" is 880Hz.....music is physics/maths
@LESDT you feel it rigth but you say it wrong. Mood in music is about crossing the minor major line gently, that would be hitting sharp g on white piano notes. That is why when you cross it chords are close to each other in a way. It is math, no social matter.
Not idiotic. Its cool. Unlike you. The sound is annoying, especially near the end. You, on the other hand, Ajnarocks, red19bridge, are just annoying. Period. The shapes are sweet, the color is boring. You are not sweet and, like the color, white and/or boring. (Post a better video you fucks and THEN say whatever you want.)
imprints of alien signals,,sound from another planet directed for earth,,and when they hit, they couse differnt types of shapes,,think about it,,it could be true
Far from being idiotic, that's a very insightful comment! Here we have a scientific demonstration of how sound creates symmetrical shapes, and ajnarocks posts ... um ... an idiotic comment. Strange.
@widowmaker95123 Yea crop circles are likely drunk rednecks... But if the frequency is out of the range of our perception we would not even know it. Just like I can't see radio waves.
to heetxs: the math is an expression and in great partnership of the geometric shapes and through sound it is formed all in syncrination. the universe is playing a note and thus you look like you do now. when will the note change?? who knows may 2012 well c. and for the crop circles...the earth is a living being and it cries for us to listen to her in the most basic language it knows the complex sacred geometric cropcircles it creates through electric magnetic energy. :)
Crop circles are created by people with wooden boards at night.
The earth is a mass of carbon and is, I assure you, quite dead.
And when was the last time you saw a magnetic plant? There is no such thing as electric magnetic energy either, you'd be thinking of ELECTROMAGNETIC FORCE. Magnetism induced by current flow. Exactly how would this flatten a localised crop in a specific pattern, seeing as EM fields are symmetrical and act uniformly about a point?
I doubt that it is.. There comes a point where you can't hear the sound any longer, because its frequency exceeds your ears hearing range, but it's not dangerous. It can be highly unpleasant though.
This just shows the resonant frequencies of the board though, if you had a thinner/smaller/thicker/bigger board the patterns would occur at different frequency levels no?
i agree esp on DMT. i noticed that right off the bat. interesting that these visuals can be mimiced, makes you wonder how much more to tripping there really is and we just havent discovered yet.
ya. standing waves along all the possible straight lines on the desk, obviously along some stronger than others. where they happen to cross over and cancel each other out or just plain have anti-nodes salt is gathered due to lack of movement. everywhere else the vibrations force it to move.

1) Crop CIRCLES are rarely symmetrical.
2 )This occurs with SOUNDWAVES.
3) SOUNDWAVES cannot travel through space.
4) If sound created crop circles, people nearby would almost certainly be deaf.
Yet another reason they teach physics in school.

Don't underestimate the power of people.
They can do some really crazy things when they set their minds to it.
And one could argue that you're the fool for believing in such things.
Conspirators believe that they are open to truth like no one else--that everyone beyond them has a closed mind.
But it's just the opposite. Believing such things to block out real reasoning shows a lack of wisdom and ability to see beyond impression.
Gotta do better than that dude.
Don't loose focus on reality.
