Breakup on the Yukon in Galena, Alaska

I was stationed at Campion AFS, eight miles from Galena in 1964. The ice in Yukon River did not break up until after July 4.

I was stationed at Galena Air Station in 1984, we had to evacuate because the river overflowed with blocks of ice bigger than a house. Awesome. Thanks for posting.
