  • Why do you refer to the interviewer (Mike Wallace) as a moron? These are standard questions that any journalist would pose or ask, i.e. "Do you have a democracy?" "Don't you think we have more of a democracy?" This is more diplomatic than asking, why is your regime so brutal toward protestors? etc. The Shah is evasive, answering philosophically, what is a democracy? Some people would consider this answer defensive.

  • @Nikes62 If you really want to deal with honesty & professionalism, you should start criticizing YOUR OWN culture MISDOINGS then ask the guy before you, whether his regime could stand the comparison. I KNOW for regularly listening to morning BBC world service, that british journalists often are keen to consider foreign guests, mainly from Africa, as people of another age when wildness was the norm. A BOLD CONTEMPT they hardly can hide through lessons a westerner has the right to give!

  • I would kill for a pair of Persian eyebrows! haha they really emphasize emotion haha!

  • If he was bright or had such a high level of intelligence he would have reformed the system before the revolution. He would have infiltrated the islamists instead of repressing the intellectuals, journalists, writers, etc. It was due to his failure that the revolution happened.

  • @astroboomboy a FACT no one can deny: The Shah, because of his willing to take control of the whole production & exploitation of Iran Oil, had collected a terrific bunch of powerful people - mostly British & American - fed with A TREMENDOUS HATRED & a willingness of RETALIATION at him.

You're right & there's no controversial about it, the Shah had made PRETTY bad appreciation of fundamental things dealing with Iranians themselves. Who were his advisers? Under which pressure was he?

  • @joetke I can't agree more, the Americans and British wanted more control over Iranian oil, but I think it's going to far blaming the revolution on America.

The problem with the Shah I think was that he chose very bad advisers as anybody that criticized him would be cut off.

If the Shah had initiated reforms during the 60s, when students, unions, intellectuals, journalists where demanding them, Iran would look more like South Korea today. Alas he only cared for his own power.

  • @astroboomboy partly I think. He cared for his own power but he was keen to revive the splendor of the Great Persian civilization too, his way, somewhat neglecting or having a wrong idea of how the majority of Iranians saw his elitism. Great ideas aren't necessarily shared by the majority. If you consider the difference between the religion of those elites and the overwhelming muslim crowds, the achievement was unreachable by design (religiously speaking). Thanks for your views

  • @joetke Yes, but his ideas of splendor where very authoritarian. On the other hand, I guess the revolution in one aspect was god, because it showed the people how dangerous religion and politics combined can be. Iran is probably the most secular country in the middle east today, and people are loosing hope in a religious state. I think in time for the next election the era of Khameini will be finished. Next time people go the the streets it's over!

  • @astroboomboy Unfortunately I don't have data enough to state whether Iran is the "most secular country" in the ME. But if it were the case, ever, sooner or later REALITY SHOULD reflect that feature... IMHO the real threat, the biggest one is the MILITARY SUPPORT of controversial regimes. Among those, the USA at the first place! Controversial doesn't mean hated at all. It means political/religious regimes with too much CONTRADICTIONS that SHOULD BE TACKLED the sooner the better.

  • @joetke I remember reading a study by two Iranian sociologists that had done surveys across the middle east on religion, and their findings pointed towards Iran being the most secular. But it's hard to verify such studies. Let us hope that reality does reflect this thesis, and that Iran will change before the US attacks us.

  • @astroboomboy I am less worry than you are, about a US attack on Iran. The consequences would be terribly unpredictable, and it would end obama's mandate on a FAILURE. Showing your biceps had never impress anyone. You know, if you're actually sure of your strength, no need to threaten anyone. You come and beat him, basta! A much more serious reason could be the negative impact of an improbable attack, on Iranian youth. Aggression always leads to an increased nationalism.

  • Thanks to all for your interest and happy new year 2012! I think I have to give a precision for many who posted comments in, I suppose, arabic. Unfortunately I don't speak, nor read this main language, it's actually a pity. I would like to understand at least the core of them, before approving their display. It's a minimum IMHO for the simple reason, their content might hurt some readers. Sorry for that.

  • +im part jewish, when i say jewish, i mean the big banking families that have big plans for us, those are the ones we have to fight, the zionist families who control the planet, they love nothing and no one except their gold, theres also many non jewish families like the queen england and other royal families who have control over central banks, the world could be a fine place to live dosent need to be like this

  • He was too much for his illiterate stupid people!

  • especially the torture chambers of the savak were amazing. so amazing that the islamist regime continued to employ the tortures after the revolution

  • @zobielamouche1 Why not keeping proved methods...? It's not that laughable, really not. But it's an actual FACT, we want it or not.

  • @zobielamouche1 agree

  • Thanks for all the comments you made. They are all valuable for me and deserve my attention. There just a couple of them I couldn't put online for their "harsh" words, though. I hope it won't hurt anyone.

I'm sorry too for the long time I took to respond to your comments.

What I can say on is:

Iran, whoever might rule this great and proud nation, IS A MAJOR ACTOR of this 21st century, in any aspects, from Sciences point of view to a wonderful civilization this country has remained. Thats a FACT

  • JAVEED SHAH.

  • Actually, in telling the truth about US, Israel and brittain, both Shah and Ahmadinejad have that in common.

  • this america and britain they salute with wine in front of you while making plans to kill you and robb your country, jews have such tight grip on america and world we will have to kill them all one day or die in slavery

  • @ukusapillage I DO AGREE TOTALLY! That's why this world becomes more and more insecure despite usuk and the french dwarf sarkozy might spread as lies and propaganda on air or via smartphones or some dangerous-for-your-mental-health gadgets... Regarding the "jewish" aspect of things, I would say this is the TERRIFIC consequences of having confined jewish people into some trade framework all along the centuries, in Europe. They became SMARTER... That's it! banking, loaning and playing music...

  • carter was a CUNT

  • RIP our sainted Shahanshah. President Sadat wrote: "The 4 leaders of USA UK France & Germany met in Quadelupe France. They took a unified stand against the Shah & in support of Khomeini. The planted a time bomb but did not grasp the reality until it was too late with it shrapnels were all over Iran" (Those I have known by President Sadat of Egypt). On July 27th 1980 Reagan still California governor said: "What we Americans did to the Shah is a black page in US history". "Revolution by freinds"!!

  • In 1979 Jimmy Carter & the filthy evil mean greedy Brits finally managed to do what Nancy SK Lambton the anti-Iran British spy was recomending since 1940's. She used to demand the overthrow of the Pahlavi king & the establishment of an Islamic regime. They can call it a revolution but the overthrow of the sainted modernizer Shah by the west might be a taboo subject in the west but it isnt to us long suffering Iranians. Please visit my UTUBE channel to see why UK USA overthrow the Shah in 1979.

  • How funny that NONE of the western journalists who where so hungry for the Shah's blood in the name of democracy made even half an effort to expose or even discuss the crimes of the Islamic Republic that they helped bring about.

  • rip shah

  • What a wise person the shah was. Iranian people did not appreciate what he did for Iran. Its too late now and it will probably take 100 years to rebuild the country

  • son of a bitch, Jimmy!

  • THE SHAH TELLS THE TRUTH THAT CAN GET YOU IN BIG TROUBLE EVEN KILLED WATCH THESE VIDEO'S HE TELLS THE TRUTH ABOUT U.S.A.AND BRITAN THE WEST AS A WHOLE

  • It is not the interviewer's place to continue a line of hostile questioning with the person they are interviewing. And so Wallace does not do so, but instead tries to get the Shah back on track or elicit some kind of useful commentary from him. Wallace is hardly unintelligent as you are trying to argue from a simple video.

  • we love our King and shit on islam and these arab-bastards of iranian regime

  • A throully a GREAT MAN OF HISTORY. THE Grasshopers THINK that they can change history, but that will never be the case. All the miljon Tons of Persian Artifacts which were throw out into atlantic, because they didnt wanted their lays to come out !!WILL be find in the future. Down to the Double standard, Noon Human Forces which have in Goal to destroy the world and humanity. Even thou they win one battle they will lose the war. Human history is much longer than they think...

  • Why do all muslims think with such a simple mind set as this? "The USA is not a democracy"... Oh ya never-mind the voting process of the people that takes place every 2 years for the past 200 years where we elect our leaders from top to bottom of the government.

"theres corruption in the US government"... Sure but what government doesn't have a bit of corruption? I can assure you Iran has more then and now.

"Does Watergate mean anything to you". Nixon was tried and charged for this.

  • Interesting - Can you peut the rest of the episodes on Youtube?

Only 6/10 is on Youtube. Thanks

  • @dazadi Sorry for the long time. I have so much media to manage here and there. The 10 episodes are on line and I've just checked it up...rather strange a situation. I wonder whether it's a matter of location, I mean all youtube posts are not available in every country, including france for instance. Moreover youtube got a finer grain control over the copyrights of any materials. I've been warned for some possible copyrights infringement but had never had my posts removed yet. Amicalement

  • This must have been in '74 to '76 (after the West especially the US) decided to replace the Shah. Wallace is a piece of trash not fit to be in the same room as the Shah. They never would have dared to question Iran before that. It was this brainwashing that caused many Iranians to think he was a monster. RIP.

  • @OoooiiioooO Totally agree with your point. But the saddest thing is after Wallace ('s got retired), there are much more Wallaces now than ever, guys who are paid to completely destroy the image of some leaders their services have targeted. Honest and Objective Journalism is dead and now when you happen to listen some experts on CNN whatsoever, they are there to relay a precise message. It's much more about lobbies' PR communication than journalism.

  • @OoooiiioooO Perfectly said.

  • indeed too smart for these superficial interviewers.

  • @standingByHim Iran of today wouldn't have its top nuclear knowledge without the GREAT VISION of the Shah for a brilliant return of a particularly smart civilisation. He had made some mistakes but no one could say that he didn't love his people and his civilization. I rank myself the Shah far above all the non-aligned leaders of the 60's, because he was historically the very first to point out, as an effective ruler, the scandal of british take-over on other countries' oil. Unforgettable..
