Just wondering if there is an online store where I can buy this stuff? I live in Australia and NOBODY knows what I'm talking about when I try to find this stuff! Any thoughts would be great, thanks!
@mytommyland I live in New Zealand and find it's nearly impossible to buy anything that I see online in the States etc. But I managed to find a store in earthquake-stricken Christchurch somehow!
I googled 'silver leaf' and 'gilding' and after trawling through a few pages struck gold. Or do I mean silver? I paid $6.95 for a packet of 25 14cm x 14cm squares. 1 small bottle of size was also $6.95.
Any brand of dark glaze you can get your hands on would be adequate, at Carrocel we use a commerical brand only available to the trade. You can also use different shades of glaze to achieve different results.
Thank you! Once the silver leafing has settled we proceed with finishing the silver leaf with a coat of dark glaze applied by hand. This helps give the silver leaf some definition as well as that beautiful antiqued look.

Your finished result is AMAZING! Can you tell me how you get it to look aged after applying the silver leaf?
P.S. What is this song playing. It takes me to another space and time.
