@rarityisnotamule squall is a better loner because he chooses to be alone where as cloud hates being alone but he doesn't know anything else, tifa wasn't his friend when he child so even at a young age he was alone. Also I think the reason 7 is more popular is because of cloud rather then the gameplay, graphics or storyline.

I'd say you're right that Sephiroth and Cloud caught everyone's attention. Plus Vincent. And now that they're bringing out more and more FFVII franchises it's gaining undeserved popularity over all the other Final Fantasy's.... for the WRONG type of game. I just want the old FF style back ='(

i dont see why 7 is more popular. im about half-way through disc one in both. Squall is the better loner guy, the battle/upgrade system is more interesting in 8 and the plot makes sense(i hear 7's plot is convoluted as fck)

I love the Masterpiece that FF VIII is, it's music, story, everything and till today Squall is my absolute favorite main char of all time. But it was made around 1999 and it was PERFECT for it's time. A remake now would be forced and wouldn't fit in todays world.

If you're a true fan of FF VIII you should hope it will stay an untouched masterpiece forever. So we can cherish the memories forever :)

@Justforvisit A remake of this game have alot of potential. If you look at the facts, this game's story is a love story.

So don't come here and tell me better grapichs, better sound, and voice acting would fit not in todays world. If anything, the games today lack the theme of love and I think a FF8 remake would be a fresh breath of air for a new audience and a nostalgic look back for us FF veterans.

The story of FF8 with good voice acting and a better script would be, to say it mildly. Amazing.

@mamba5445 Look at what kingdom hearts did. Simply by giving Vivi from FFIX a voice, they ruined his character hugely for me. I say the game's perfect as it is. Rather than re-making games, giving a chance of ruining them, we should be pushing that they take these games as inspiration. Don't get me wrong, XIII is a huge improvement on X-2 or XII, but it's no VII, VIII or IX.

@Justforvisit Then again, the modern FF games are really going down hill. XIII & XIII-2 have been disappoints to fans abroad story wise. Square Enix is another Japanese developer being hit hard by the conversion from Japanese games to NA games. This change isn't quite understood, but if the FF games were remade from 7 on up, they could potentially be a success. If ppl can get to rexperience or experience the magic then FF could come back up. Otherwise be swallowed by Microsoft.
